It is incredible how disagreement about communism and capitalism could be made fun of in a farce like this. After the cold war started Hollywood lost all sense of humour about the very real disagreements about it. Communists had to become clichéd, less than human stereotypes. Maybe because this came from a french play of the time. It is still surprising this got made, I wonder if those who made it got black listed during McCarthy.
