@GerRoland "Newbie"??!!! How many and which nominations they have gotten and how popular they are with the multitudes don't count for anything, nor do they necessarily mean quality. For the first time ever young Americans find an interest beyond Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber... that interest may not be Grand Opera, but Classic Crossover is MUCH better than nothing... unless one is a purist snob. Andrea Bocelli is a big fan of these young men... but you probably thumb your nose up at him as well.
@GerRoland I - My kudos to German music: I'm a great admirer of it. I don't care if these three yapping puppies are my ""countrymen": they present themselves as singers, and speculate on the gullibility of the gross public to be popular and make money out of it at their age. If they have this innate ability, why don't they cultivate it by going to some good conservatory to develop it seriously? They often fall off key, and their breathing technique is visibly lousy.
@GerRoland II - I have too much reverence for good music to be a snob - a purist, YES I am. "Classic crossover"? First time I hear the expression. There's very little classical in their repertoire, check the column on the right side of the screen and you'll see almost all of it is pop - of old vintage maybe, but still pop. And I'll tell you something, I'm not making much of Bocelli either - he plays heavily on his blindness to evoke sympathy, he's another hypocritical vocal bluff.

Mein Freund, I am 82 yr-old and I NEVER had ambitions to be a singer, neither at their age nor in the following stages of my life - much less now, at this age.... That fancy never struck me, and life took me to a completely different professional activity (it's over now, I'm in pension, but I reached the possible top of it). @Gheorgyi Originally I thought you were a young "know-it-all" musician. Later I did see your age, and didn't want to make it an issue. Your feelings on Andre Rieu and Andrea Bocelli, gives me some idea of your musical philosophy. In America opera is slowly dying. The classic-crossover genre helps young people develop an appreciation for real classics. Purely from that perspective IL VOLO-Bocelli-Rieu do a small service to real classical music for the young. 2) I ragazzi non hanno mai pensato di paragonarsi ai grandi che lei cita: in ogni intervista non fanno altro che ricordare ai giornalisti di non essere cantanti d'opera, che l'opera necessita di anni e anni di studio e che loro stanno seguendo lezioni di canto da appena un anno. Il loro genere poi è il pop lirico (operatic pop) non certo l'opera classica. Il conservatorio, se mai volessero veramente intraprendere questa strada, può aspettare, finché non saranno maggiorenni.

Professore, è altamente NON professionale per un medico "psicologo professionale" prodursi in una diagnosi senza aver mai visto il paziente. Mi permetta di dubitare delle sue affermazioni. Se lei è veramente uno psicologo, credo che una visita da un collega non le farebbe altro che bene. Intanto, l'ho colta in fallo, non credo che possa conoscere di persona un 280 milioni di americani....

Per quanto riguarda lei, povera creatura, prima di tutto non ho formulato alcuna diagnosi: comunque, basterebbe leggere quello e come scrive per formularne una; per quanto riguarda gli americani, sicuramente non li ho conosciuti tutti, ma il campione (termine nel suo significato in statistica) che ne ho conosciuto è sufficiente.
2) Poi, spunta le armi dei suoi interlocutori parandosi dietro alla sua veneranda età (ho letto le altre dispute qui) e pretende di avere l'ultima parola. Questo si chiama trolleggiare. Le va bene che i ragazzi con cui ha discusso sono tutti beneducati e nessuno, per rispetto ai suoi capelli bianchi, l'ha mandata a quel paese. Io credo però che il rispetto non sia dovuto se non è reciproco. Caro professore (di conservatorio, presumo) forse ha qualcosa su cui riflettere.

2) I ragazzi stanno studiando canto privatamente, dati i loro impegni, e al contempo continuano con la scuola superiore. Gianluca fa il liceo classico, Piero il commerciale e Ignazio le magistrali. Passano gli esami da privatisti con la media del sette. E sì, le dico che il Conservatorio può aspettare, è un ambiente malsano, io non ci manderei mai mio figlio minorenne! Potranno fare come ha fatto la cantante Gianna Nannini, che si è diplomata al conservatorio da adulta.

I don't care if these three yapping puppies are my ""countrymen": they present themselves as singers, and speculate on the gullibility of the gross public to be popular and make money out of it at their age. If they have this innate ability, why don't they cultivate it by going to some good conservatory to develop it seriously? They often fall off key, and their breathing technique is visibly lousy.

@GerRoland II - I have too much reverence for good music to be a snob - a purist, YES I am. "Classic crossover"? First time I hear the expression. There's very little classical in their repertoire, check the column on the right side of the screen and you'll see almost all of it is pop - of old vintage maybe, but still pop. And I'll tell you something, I'm not making much of Bocelli either - he plays heavily on his blindness to evoke sympathy, he's another hypocritical vocal bluff.

Mein Freund, I am 82 yr-old and I NEVER had ambitions to be a singer, neither at their age nor in the following stages of my life - much less now, at this age.... That fancy never struck me, and life took me to a completely different professional activity (it's over now, I'm in pension, but I reached the possible top of it). I just can't stand musical/singing bluffs, and that includes for instance, besides of Bocelli, also André Rieux.

Your feelings on Andre Rieu and Andrea Bocelli, gives me some idea of your musical philosophy. In America opera is slowly dying. The classic-crossover genre helps young people develop an appreciation for real classics. Purely from that perspective IL VOLO-Bocelli-Rieu do a small service to real classical music for the young. 2) I ragazzi non hanno mai pensato di paragonarsi ai grandi che lei cita: in ogni intervista non fanno altro che ricordare ai giornalisti di non essere cantanti d'opera, che l'opera necessita di anni e anni di studio e che loro stanno seguendo lezioni di canto da appena un anno. Il loro genere poi è il pop lirico (operatic pop) non certo l'opera classica. Il conservatorio, se mai volessero veramente intraprendere questa strada, può aspettare, finché non saranno maggiorenni.

2) I ragazzi stanno studiando canto privatamente, dati i loro impegni, e al contempo continuano con la scuola superiore. Gianluca fa il liceo classico, Piero il commerciale e Ignazio le magistrali. Passano gli esami da privatisti con la media del sette. E sì, le dico che il Conservatorio può aspettare, è un ambiente malsano, io non ci manderei mai mio figlio minorenne! I wish I could hear Gianluca speak english. He has a nice speaking voice, no wonder he has a nice singing voice. I am sure down the road he will be able to speak english and maybe will do it more. They sure speak Italian well...Wish I could...plan to learn. I so love these guys...
