  • This is embarrassing to martial arts. How can taping someone on the head like that be called a point.

  • That's exactly the level of karate one would expect from a tournament with hip-hop as background music and a pimp for referee... (PS.: nothing against hip hop) :)

  • @rtempestini yea why was the ref dressed that way??? and what typa cheap tournament was that?

  • .... ok.. so my MMA/Kickboxing told me point sparring was gay... ahh... wtf? one tap = separation??? WTF???!?!??!

  • there is nothing wrong with point sparring as a sporting and fitness exercise..... however, I do think that lazy hands that hang around the waist rather that protecting key parts of the body is just not good practice.

  • wat is this shit fighting?

  • ZION Bank

  • like a game

  • point sparring is total bulshit.

    bunch of pussies

  • to the side of the leg could penetrate some of the arteries and veins of the leg, causing the attacker to bleed may be to death. We can all learn from each other if we put our egos a side.........

    YAH BLESS

  • it may not help him in the street, on the other hand, the traditional practitioner because he does katas and works his bunkai(application) if he gets attacked by multiple attackers, he is right at home, but against multiple attackers we all agree that the floor is not a place to be in a realistic event, and even if you go to the ground in the street with just one attacker, if you for example get an attacker in the ground with a triangle hold, a bite to the groin (genitals or ) .....continue...

  • Point fighting is a whole different ball game compare with m.m.a. It does not mean that one or the other is better or worst is just different, if you ask a lot of the m.m.a. fighters come from point fighting. I believe that they are both beneficial, and that any style of fighting can get you ready for a true combat situation. We can all agree that in the street any thing can happen " really" there are no rules there, for example the point fighter power since he is train to hold back....continue

  • should i respect serial rapists, child molesters, and malicious dictators? there are some things i can't agree with, others i must ignore out of disgust (mexico), and others still must be laughed at (point sparring)

im not sure im buying your soccer analogy. they are good athletes, but if they told me, i think im gonna test some of my soccer kicks in the cage, then i'd think they were just as silly as you, who wants to try point sparring against a real combat sport athlete.

    and i am lucky

  • too different sports buddy!...i dont understand your comment about mexico but i dont wanna go there...but as far as point sparring you would be surprized how many top mma fighters did point fighting at some point...(Machida, chuck, GSP) some aspect of point fighting could help you on a real fight (timing) which machida and chuck have but you knw what..mma still isnt real combat....unless is vale tudo...it's just a sport...whats your experience in martial arts anyway?

  • i hope you realize they don't yell 'BREAK' every time someone in the cage taps one of his opponents target areas

fighing in the cage is something you will have to transition to as a fighter, not something you can test your point sparring with

  • Maaaaan!!!! why everybody at youtube believes they are undisputable fighters?. Martial arts teach me, I have to respect every person. If somebody believes cage fights are the best, I respect that. If somebody likes pointsparring, I respect that. Personally I have made Point Sparring, Fullcontact, and maybe I will test me in the cage in June 2010. All these kind of fights, are just a sport. Please respect the decision of every person.

Excuse my english, I am learning. Greetings from Mexico

  • Maaaaan mexico sucks and you guys have terrible educations. probably why you can't see how terrible point sparring is. i hope you get into the cage with a primarily point sparring background.

  • you believe you are a martial artist, and you don´t respect anything different to your syste or style. And why do you say that about my country??? Yo must to work your attitude before work in martial arts.

  • i respect plenty of styles, just not this pitter patter fist tag game you guys seem to think has a significant relevance to actual fighting.

i like muay thai, bjj, wrestling, boxing, sambo, judo, freestyle kickboxing, savat, san shou, kyokusin etc.

this point sparring turns into a game of tag, with no attention paid to what might happen AFTER a point is scored

i took tkd for many years and we did primarily point sparring

same with kung fu and chito ryu karate

    my opinion comes from experience

  • Point sparring is not a martial art, is an sport.

I like all the martial arts you mentioned. But if somebody likes to play soccer, you must to respect.

And your experience says that Mexico Sucks.

You are lucky to born in first world country but you must to respect all other.

A martial artist must to respect every kind of way of life.

Good Luck, have a nice day.

  • cage fighters would destroy some random brawler

a street fighter has NO CHANCE at a good pro venue. mma is the ultimate proving ground, like it or not

  • i do get a boner from time to time but its just the incidental physical stimulation

  • well that was weird?

im not homophobic so yeah, i can enjoy rolling around with other guys. typically closet cases associate wrestling with gay sex...

  • point sparring, the only combat sport that actually makes you worse at real fighting

  • i agree with that, our grandmaster (R.I.P) always hated it. said it was nothing but tit for tat. my teacher trains us for the streets n to fight for our lives.. not for points.

  • my coach trains me to win cage fights

scraps on the street against randoms are pretty much a guaranteed win, if i find myself stooping to that level

  • I bet you like sweaty men you gayplayer, you like crawling around on the ground with another man. Ha ha ha GAY

  • BUUURRRN!!!

  • Point based fights make me vomit.... seriously it is just like a game of tag between two girls lol. I am glad I got into Muay Thai and not this TKD shit...

  • its cause point sparring is about speed and the fastest hand technique is a backfist, a fast backfist to the side of the head hurts, dumb ass. if you can't learn to like every sort of martial arts then you are not a martial artist

  • point sparring is the shit

  • Point sparring is awesome .....Peace

  • Point fighting is so gay

  • why? because you suck at it?

  • point sparring (almost as sexy as sport jujitsu) lol

  • sport jujitsu almost as sexy as Judo! ;)

  • helllz ya

  • Man...This used to be my soprt...I was good. Now I'm no good. I'm sad. If you like point sparring DON'T transition into mma and think you can go back.

  • lol...i havent done a point sparring tournement in a while and when we do it in class it feels like the timing isnt there anymore..i know what you mean

  • I'm MMA trying to transfer into point sparring, I don't find it all that difficult truth be told. For me the timing in MMA really helps because its easy to come in on kicks and punches and get a point without getting hit. Matter of fact just got done sparring a dang good point sparrer. Beat him, pretty substantially. He goes to tounrys quite a bit and wins too.

  • you went into mma using TKD? thats cool i guess, a little more rare since most ppl use MT

  • this is not TKD... but look up Charles Wilson he a successful mma fighter and started as a champion point fighter

  • Looks like the refs goin the Disco

  • nicee pretty impress

  • haha pallen is good Im surprized he didnt pull any tricks...
