My horse was green when we got him...(my trainer screwed us) and wouldnt move from the corner...i understand the frustration and agree that it was proper not to get off and beat the horse..i believe that is a person who never had a lesson and is going off of what he learned growing up and he may think he is very professional.. Not that i agree with his methods
Thats no trainer. Thats a boy showing an example of NOT how to handle a horse. I hope the horse is okay! Goodness, that guy MUST have to be from 15,000 stables where he got fired!
I just didn't like that he didn't slow down to a controlled gait before cantering around the arena. It was unbalanced and I don't think the horse learned anything. Also, there was a man on the ground chasing the horse? It just wasn;t a controlled environment or lesson for the horse. He set the horse up to fail, and it was his fault the horse acted like a goon.
the only thing bad about this video was that i saw him hit im in the face while he was riding . now i might be wrong, but when that horse threw a tanty at the start the man didnt get off and abuse him for it, and i credit it for that. but my comp played up a bit during this video. and in these type of countries this is how they train their horses. everyone is different
Might want to try lots of ground work first. This horse is not ready to be worked on his back. He also needs to be worked in much smaller circles. Youtube offers many good tips from John Lyons. I would never let this rider touch my horse. Good way to ruin a good horse! This post should be what not to do when training a horse. Horses end up only as smart as the people training them!!!
Usually the negative comments are from the people who only ride after their horse is trained not when one is green and has attitude. He may have sloppy hands but that horse was acting up right off the bat not because of his riding. Try riding a green resistant horse and see if you go in a straight line or keep ur ass on the saddle! I wouldnt be riding that horse period he needs groundwork first.
I think he was trying to do everything with the reins, but you have to use your legs, too. When you want the horse to turn, it's not just the reins, you have to guide him with you legs (if the horse doesn't want to obey, you can press harder with your legs, so you would force him but won't hurt. It would be like pushing softly and controlled but strongly if he refuses).
The second time he did better, but he souldn't make those noses to scare the horse, he should use the legs for that...
Looks like this kid is doing the dirty work so-called trainers are afraid to do. When a horse figures out that bad behavior will intimidate the rider into not working him, the horse has won. Getting that horse to respond to his cues, while riding in an english saddle and tennis, tells me he is just an excercise rider and not a trainer. The kid is not abusing the horse, he is just trying to stay on while trying to work him out.
I'd love to see you with a bit in your mouth and this guy holding the reins - the horse needs to learn communication with the rider - a Good rider that is, not be forced into submitting to abuse. There are lots of beautiful animals out there that are turned into dangerous ones because of idiots like this rider, and you think he's doing nothing wrong?!!!!!
The guy on the horse did nothing wrong... he was maybe a little quick with his hands but the horse looks young and obnoxious...lots of ground work would help this colt... he keeps pulling away from the bit and wont follow the riders guidance, which is a good sign of just a young hard headed horse, in time the horse will be ready for a lope but by the looks of it right now he needs to walked and trotted only, untill he learns to respect that bit.... Beautiful animal though!
That is not a trainer from hell, that is a resistant horse. Granted, extensive ground work would have done wonders for that piece, but sometimes you just gotta "cowboy" on one. By the way, to everyone who keeps saying he needs to turn that head loose, you are incorrect. Yes, he does need to quit being so quick with his hands, but that horse needs to be collected up and driven forward. They can't buck if they're "in the bridle", as we so called awful horse trainers say it.
@dudesprfrblondes Omg are you for real? Like honestly!! Let's see where to start.. Lets start with the "Cowboy" part, shall we? Youmust not be around horses, or you really dont know anything about good training or working with them. You see horse training is slow and it takes time what this guy here is doing is trying to rush and push things down into the dirt. "Cowboying" isnt the way to go, the horses need trust. They need to see that you wont hurt them or beat them..
@dudesprfrblondes Next! Is the "in the bridle" like what the hell? Honestly? xD You people make me laugh so hard I cry. To be collected you must first have relaxation, straightness, free forward movement, connection, and suppleness and allowing the hind legs moveing under neath him self and his back to come up. That trainer isnt going to be getting that at all the way he is trying to do things. So many you should learn a few things before hand? :)
@hockeypokieblue Ha. The only think different about English to Western is the saddle, stirrup length, events and a rein contact. Nothing about pulling back on the reins like a madman and riding Western on an English horse. He should be squeezing with the legs and keeping seated, leaning BACK NOT FORWARD, put lots of weight into the saddle as it's harder for horses to run off if they have weight on their backs, and dear god he needs to sort out his stirrups! And get another occupation!
What the hell is that trainers poroblem!! Why doesnt he just show us how flipping good he is and get on the horse himself! What a total jerk! Good riding dude.
@sunnyutahsky Obviously - you either dont work with horses yourself, or got fired for knowing nothing about them. Perhaps though, you could have done better than this rider, seeing as how he is doing such a HORRIFIC job of it himself - hmmmmm?
im training a young horse n she bucked a lot too, but i lunged her a lot when i first got her n it did wonders!!!!! i suggest a lot of lunging n less kicking... some horses are too sensitive to be kicked like tht!!!!
Okay their`s no way in hell he`s a trainer, but he`s not from hell either, he dosn`t seem mean spirited, i think thi is a kind of clumsy ridder and not partucularly well trained horse, but i looked a littel like this when i first started traineing one of my horses ( minus the bucking, and hte running home), and she ot alot better
This guy can`t ride!!! He pulls very aggresivly on the reins to get the horse to stop bucking and then he kicks it to get it to go forward I`d be pretty mad too if someone was hanging on my mouth and telling me to go forward at the same time. The horse is very confused and probably frightened, so it resorts to bucking, rearing, and running away.
Stop sawing the rains if you want the horse to go you only use that if you cant get the horse to stop so make up you mind Go or Stop? I would have thrown your ass off.
he used a very dangerous thing alot of show jumpers do called "sawing" they pull the reins back and fourth causing extreme pain to the horses mouth. it can cause mahor damage to the horses teeth and gums. and some prople are saying that theres nothing wrong with what he is doing but the horse wouldent act this way if he took more time for ground work and basics. or the horse was spooked or in pian... still not ok
Honestly I don't see a lot wrong with what he's doing, I mean maybe a little outside rein to keep him straight but a lot of untrained horses, which this one looks like but since I don't know the whole story I could be wrong, don't know a lot of bit, heel, or rein cues so they have to "learn" and he's staying on fairly well and trying to get the horse's head up, so he must know something.
@EmmyMoo87 Exactly! I cant believe how many people on here are dissing this guy.... believe you me, if your dealing with an unbroke/unruly horse, which this one clearly is, your posture isnt always the best! Also, how about the next time you get on a horse that is trying to buck you off, you simply leave it alone? Wanna find out how quickly it gets WORSE? Goodness gracious. Everyone thinks they are a trainer! lol
@horseriderhannah when a horse bucks you have to get their head up or to stop the bucking. thats common knowledge and that is why he was pulling on his mouth.
well actually, this horse is clearly acting up. and the trainer is trying to do a one-rein-stop. he is trying to make the horse behave.notice after he pulls a little the horse starts to behave better.it always scares me when my horse acts up with my trainer, and she has to make him be nice. but if the trainer didnt do that, the horse would be very bad and try to take advantage of him
That guy needs to either 1) Get a horse at his riding level 2) Get taught some manners! 3) Work with his horse more! He/She is soo lovely! And man got some hops lol XD Would make a cute little jumper lol
I dont believe its from pulling the reigns although he should stop that because he's going to make it hard mouthed. For the most part he was fine in his training, although i do think he should lay off the bit. My guess with the bucking is that the saddle was fitting poorly.Thats the #1 cause for unwanted horse behavior. He seemed to be doing everything right in the beginning to keep the bucking down and to stay in the saddle. If it bucks now and gets away with it it will do it later with you.
@Chaco10523 This guy is not only beginner level, he isn't dressed safely, in running shoes, no less, and didn't know what to do with his reins, didn't even try a one rein stop, he was so unbalanced that even if the saddle had been a perfect fit for the horse. I think the horse was very calm and forgiving considering the painful crap that beginner rider was putting him through! Too bad the horse let him back on after tossing him the first time.
@Chaco10523 That horse would have been perfectly fine if he'd let it the hell alone. Did you see the yanking, the kicking, the horrible posture, his loud and obnoxious behavior? Even if the saddle did fit poorly, he should have known better than to use it, being a trainer -- don't you think? Whatever the problem was, he obviously hasn't prepared this horse properly nor has he understood the sensitivity of a horse's body and mind. If I were that horse, I would buck him to the moon.
@kodiakclairebear You obviously are an observant and intelligent person to have noticed what so many seem to be missing - this horse is bing abused and the rider needs to find work away from horses - he'd never be allowed near mine. Poor horse seems to be spirited, and intelligent, and its too bad he will be turned into a broken spirit and/or a dangerous animal because of this idiot.
@Chaco10523 That's awful training. Just awful, how could you say that it was okay. I mean I would train that horse better. In fact I have. Ever horse i've trained has MAYBE bucked once. And never tried to unsaddle me. Because I do it right! You dont just get on a horse and "Break thier spirit". Their spirit is trust, faith, and how you know something is wrong. This "Trainer" Should never get on another horse. And you can bet he wont EVER get on mine.
Well no shit the horse is flipping out. He needs to get off his face and sit the fuck up. some horses tolerate poor riding better than others... this one is somewhere in between tolerant and... not.
i would like to see you handle that horse *gently*...and let him take total advantage of you, the guy being filmed is just trying to gain controll and respect
Well its two things, barnsour horse and a young horse, he is doing nothing wrong just the horse isn't paying attention. The horse isn't giving its head to him, and this makes the guy frustrated just like anyone would get. I ride alot of horse's like this, ones that have been taken fresh off of the range and go and gather cows on them for their 3rd or 4th rides. When you have a horse running off and they won't give their head, its a little western and wild.
well my horse is broke and has been for like 14 years but when he is bad the thing that works best for him is to just make him stand still for a while then ask him to go if he dont want to then we stand there for a bit then i ask 2 more times then i take the end of the reins and LIGHTLY tap his butt and click he usally goes with his ears pined back or corse. i never hit him hard but i gess his old owners did or mabe he is just weirder than i thought
@1233Maya Actually you really shouldn't let him stand still like that if he's acting bad. You should make him move his feet because he'll start to think if he misbehaves he won't have to do work. You have to teach it can be the easy way(doing what he should've been doing) or hard way(or misbehaving and having to work harder).
@VivaLaEquus well yeah i gess but i use him for berrals and all so if he is being bad its usally him trying to run or speed up when i dont want him to. but if he bucks then i canter him around the ring like 3 times then back him up and he stands there for a min then hes fine.... usally
I wouldnt go so far as to call it abuse but i will call it poor horsemanship. The horse seemed like he was not enjoying the ride and the rider made him even more upset. His hands were all over the place, he had poor balance and was getting more and more frustrated so the horse was feeding off of it. Just my views. And i'm pretty sure i heard thunder in the background. That probably didnt help.
If the guy could learn to be quieter with his hands he could be quite a useful rider. He needs some good lessons on the lunge, he needs to quieten down and he needs to think about horses as sentient beings.
@playfulbortercollie I was riding in a different arena. My mom was filming this and moved to the side of the arena away from the gate after the horse kept escaping the arena and heading to the barn.
@drinkmoretui From an expert - the rider should never get on this horse until he goes thru training himself - including anti-cruelty training. This horse is not learning anything in his frame of mind, and the guy is only teaching him to fight back at confusing and unclear signals. Then, IS EVERYONE BLIND, the guy starts hitting the horse and using the reins like a whip on his whithers - what is he doing to this horse! I would never let him near my horses EVER!!!!!
pull back on them ! if a horse is bucking, the calm and well mannered horsemanship way to gain control of your body before the horse is to grab a handful or two of mane and hold on no horse that is trained right will buck .
@kelziikatastrophii You can't say that "no horse that is trained right will buck". Horses buck for many different reasons. Not just cuz of bad training. No you are not s'posed to jerk the reins, but you don't want to let go of them either.
people like this shouldnt be allowed to even touch a horse ! i agree the stirrups are too short and i may be young but i do train horses myself (western) and im learning english currently and thats just not how it works ! this IS horse abuse. the stirrups are too short which make him off balance and wobbly so he jerks on the reins when its his fault not the horses. the horse is only responding to the riders bad body language towards him! and for one you are NOT supposed to jerk the reins or
@kelziikatastrophii i don't agree, this is a green horse, possibly the first time ridden, he is learning power steering and forward, the rider is fairly passive, only encouraging the forward motion and trying to correct his steering. he can ride mine any time. this could be a race stable, a good reason for the shorter stirrup length and they have to learn some control before they head out to the track.
There are only two things wrong with this trainer. His stirrups are too short, therefore, his legs are too far forward. And then there is the shoes. But other than that, his riding/training is fine. All ya'll saying that he is pulling on the reins too much, have you sat on a bucking horse. Doubt it. if ya did, you would know that when they buck, you dont want to loosen contact, cuz then they learn that they can get out of having contact when they buck.
Yanking= no no. However, I think the rider was pretty successful despite that. Despite the fact he has no idea of leg placement or how to really ride.. heh... If the horse bucks, push them forward. Do not pull back. As bad as that sounds. When you get the connection in the reins- soft connection, you can get their head up to a place where they cant buck. Then teach them to use themselves. I would be bucking too if that guy was yanking on my face....
I HAVE broken quite a few horses in, actually..... and this could be as simple as a tack change...but something tells me it have something to do with the agressive yanking on the horses bit he is doing. He pretty much ruined a horse by doing that. And in my opinion, he's rideing like complete shit, yanking the mouth, kicking and kicking, have you never learne ASK?? If i did that and my trainer saw she would have ripped me off that horse, put a peice of metal between my teeth and yanked on it!
I thought he did a damn good job. Horse was bucking and unridable and then in a few minutes he had him under control......oh wait, he should have sppent a thousand hours swet talking the pretty little poney into doing what he wanted without ever getting on it's back??? damn tree huggers!
@BrawlerBitch I support discaplining horses when they are being comple3te brats and acting up. But in this case the rider was the problem. NEVER yank a horses mouth like that, I know many many many pleasure riders suport yanking and spruing to put a horses head down and to keep them slow, and it's wrong in my eyes. But this is ripping on the horses mouth, He very well could have ruined this horse. And yes, i HAVE broke quite a few horses and ridden MANY problem ones.
I'm not the most experienced horse person out there, and I've only owned horses for a couple of years, but I would say that the horse he is riding riding looks actually very western, and it looks like the rider is trying to get that horse to collect for English type riding. So if it is by any chance a more western type horse, than it's no wonder horse and rider aren't communicating very well!
@TheDenverOmelette You're joking. Tell ya what. Let's put a piece of metal in your mouth and have someone jerking on the reins like this schmo is doing. A trainer should ideally know how to ride a horse properly before calling himself a trainer, and there's a big difference between being able to stay in the saddle and actual equitation. The clown in the clip shouldn't ride a dime store horse.
@dunblobbon Did he ever tell you he called himself a trainer? And you can't judge his equitation when the horse is, you know, bucking. I'm pretty sure you don't look very pretty when your horse is acting up either. It's just ridiculous how horse people act toward other horse people. You see one 2:36 video and assume you've seen his whole riding career.
@TheDenverOmelette I would agree, IF the dumb ass hole was not yanking the horses mouth like he was. I have ridden many horses and a ton with attitudes, iv'e never fixed ANYTHING by yanking on their mouths.
This guy needs to learn how to ride! Hands flopping all over the place same with his body! No wonder this horse is like get off of me! My horse would've bucked him off and ran over him!!!
so there are different thoughts on the horse.. it could be the horse is a brat, or the horse is green, or the horse is hurting in someway... but one thought on the rider... he cant be a true trainer... not with riding style like that. hes riding worse than some beginners ive seen..
That's not a trainer. That's a beginner. ASShole. amazing what oil will buy. Poor horses, owned by people with too much money, and no talent whatsoever..
thats a great way to turn a horse's mouth into hamburger, and i don't care how mild that snaffle bit is. its only mild in the hands of a person who knows what they are doing. he's probably just trying (and failing) to show off.
@mquigly1547 I would completely agree that the horse is being a real brat, but I would say that this rider is lacking skill and knowledge to properly deal with such a brat of a horse. His basic form and posture are giving him no stability, which is causing him to use the reins to hold himself on, further pissing off the horse. His frustration is leading him to further jerk on the reins and slap the horse. In the end the horse will either give up fighting, or get worse.
@mquigly1547 first of all we dont know if that horse was being a brat, he could have been green, or in pain, second of all I for one dont ride perfect horses, i actually do train horses but when i do i dont handle a horse like this .
The commenters on here obviously know nothing about training, this is how a horse becomes perfected and he is doing it right he has the reins slightly pulled to the left to keep the horses head down and prevent him from having to much rein and taking off in a dead run or buck on him, the rider isn't abusing the horse he is being very gentle. People only think a rider is good when their riding a perfect horse but how do you think the horse gets that way??? Training and it aint pretty!
He needs to quit hunching forward if he's trying to slow the horse down for a start and yanking the poor things head all over the place whilst kicking it is not going to get him anywhere.
No wonder the horse is bloody cantering and bucking! All the rider is doing is yanking on the horses mouth and then kicking him on. His legs are so forward that they are almost wrapped around the horses neck! I'm very glad that he was thrown off 3 times before cuz he damn well deserves it!!!! XO
How many people that have commented have broken in horses successfully i wonder?? Not every horse can be ridden perfectly and sometimes it aint pretty until the lines of communication become clear between the rider and horse....i would like to challenge any one else to give that horse a go!! i bet he sorts it out within a dozen rides!! I didnt see any abuse there.
You are right on, this gu is doing a good job on a really green colt that is full of himself. After starting colts for over 30 years you learn to deal with all kinds of situations. He is getting the horse to go forward and will eventually get him straight and supple. Don't knock it until you try it and don't take a video clip out of context like this one is and pass judgement.
@drinkmoretui Although this horse is green and frustrating jerking a horse's head to the side and then slapping it in the face is not considered good training under any circumstance.
@drinkmoretui Doesn't really matter. I'm not being paid to train someone's horse. The man in the video is training someone ele's horse so it will be ready to play polo. There are plenty of other trainers out there who don't jerk on the horse's mouth or slap it in the face when they get frustrated.
@drinkmoretui The horse looks broke to me, maybe he hadn't been rode in a while, or was still young, but he lopes nice and rounded, well balanced. I think it was a combination of reasons for the behavior. If I knew where he was, and had funds to get there, I'd ride him. I have rode horses like him, better, and worse. It's just what you get dealt in life.
@drinkmoretui I agree! The horse looks barn sour and is being very rank! I don't see spurs or whips or excessive pulling on the reins. The rider is simply asking the horse to go forward and keep going forward. Actually I think its a good example of riding a buck, sticking like glue with a defensive yet secure seat.
@drinkmoretui I don't thinks its abuse, but I do think there are other ways to get him to quit jigging than jerking in his mouth. If you hurt them in the mouth too much most of the time he will rare up and a lot of times fall on you. I line drive mine before I get on them to let them get used to the bit. Then to get on them, I put weight on their back and when they are used to that I lay on them longways. I used to be like this guy and the horses and I got hurt to many times.
@saubkram DAMN! You mean to tell me the first bad sign for horses is that Iranian's can't handle horses properly??!? Well hell that explains this video:
watch?v=ORM59eOoDfo&feature=related
I think I'll make note of it next time I see one of these......Iranians.
He's a sucky rider and trainer. But he was doing the right thing by pulling the horse in a circle while he was bucking. That was about the only right thing in here. I saw a comment about Arabians. Arabians might be high strung, but they aren't tough to handle if you know what you're doing. Sometimes, a horse needs a few yanks to straighten up, but excessive yanking and hitting is stupid.
@dragonshade123 Because in the desserts in their countries they deal with Arabian horses that are pretty tough to handle but they also end up becoming abusively cruel.
@saubkram ok I get that he's a horrible trainer I really do and I feel sorry for the horse but it doesn't mean that you have to be racist about it and no Iranians don't ride camels I mean hello one of Dubai's attractions is going on camel rides. But Iranians aren't very good with animals. Still don't judge.
hey jackass, ive been riding 20 yrs, fallen off plenty of times & my skull remains in tact. i use proper equitation so tennis shoes or not, my feet havent been caught in stirrups. the world was conquered on horseback w/out helmets. If u feel better wearing a helmet by all means do so but dont think u have the right to tell everyone else they have to. and why the fuck are u bitching at me over a comment that is 9 mos old ur either a rejected kid or lonely old bitch. fuck off, get a life

To be collected you must first have relaxation, straightness, free forward movement, connection, and suppleness and allowing the hind legs moveing under neath him self and his back to come up. That trainer isnt going to be getting that at all the way he is trying to do things. So many you should learn a few things before hand? :)

He should have gotten down and calmed the horse down instead of making his mouth bleed.

i dont ride english but i do know that this guy needs to be more gentle with his hands and get on that horse cause that horse looks pretty pissed of!
hockeypokieblue 2 months ago
@hockeypokieblue Ha. The only think different about English to Western is the saddle, stirrup length, events and a rein contact. Nothing about pulling back on the reins like a madman and riding Western on an English horse. He should be squeezing with the legs and keeping seated, leaning BACK NOT FORWARD, put lots of weight into the saddle as it's harder for horses to run off if they have weight on their backs, and dear god he needs to sort out his stirrups! And get another occupation!

2014466 2 months ago
he used a very dangerous thing alot of show jumpers do called "sawing" they pull the reins back and fourth causing extreme pain to the horses mouth. it can cause mahor damage to the horses teeth and gums. and some prople are saying that theres nothing wrong with what he is doing but the horse wouldent act this way if he took more time for ground work and basics. or the horse was spooked or in pian... still not ok
saddlebred4ever 3 months ago
Honestly I don't see a lot wrong with what he's doing, I mean maybe a little outside rein to keep him straight but a lot of untrained horses, which this one looks like but since I don't know the whole story I could be wrong, don't know a lot of bit, heel, or rein cues so they have to "learn" and he's staying on fairly well and trying to get the horse's head up, so he must know something.
screamingnightmares 3 months ago

well actually, this horse is clearly acting up. and the trainer is trying to do a one-rein-stop. he is trying to make the horse behave.notice after he pulls a little the horse starts to behave better.it always scares me when my horse acts up with my trainer, and she has to make him be nice. but if the trainer didnt do that, the horse would be very bad and try to take advantage of him

michellecoutois 3 months ago
I dont believe its from pulling the reigns although he should stop that because he's going to make it hard mouthed. For the most part he was fine in his training, although i do think he should lay off the bit. My guess with the bucking is that the saddle was fitting poorly.Thats the #1 cause for unwanted horse behavior. He seemed to be doing everything right in the beginning to keep the bucking down and to stay in the saddle. If it bucks now and gets away with it it will do it later with you.
Chaco10523 4 months ago 18
@Chaco10523 This guy is not only beginner level, he isn't dressed safely, in running shoes, no less, and didn't know what to do with his reins, didn't even try a one rein stop, he was so unbalanced that even if the saddle had been a perfect fit for the horse. I think the horse was very calm and forgiving considering the painful crap that beginner rider was putting him through! Too bad the horse let him back on after tossing him the first time.
Funandhorses 3 months ago
@Chaco10523 That horse would have been perfectly fine if he'd let it the hell alone. Did you see the yanking, the kicking, the horrible posture, his loud and obnoxious behavior? Even if the saddle did fit poorly, he should have known better than to use it, being a trainer -- don't you think? Whatever the problem was, he obviously hasn't prepared this horse properly nor has he understood the sensitivity of a horse's body and mind. If I were that horse, I would buck him to the moon.
kodiakclairebear 2 months ago
@kodiakclairebear You obviously are an observant and intelligent person to have noticed what so many seem to be missing - this horse is bing abused and the rider needs to find work away from horses - he'd never be allowed near mine. Poor horse seems to be spirited, and intelligent, and its too bad he will be turned into a broken spirit and/or a dangerous animal because of this idiot.
bhamblin1 1 month ago
@Chaco10523 That's awful training. Just awful, how could you say that it was okay. I mean I would train that horse better. In fact I have. Ever horse i've trained has MAYBE bucked once. And never tried to unsaddle me. Because I do it right! You dont just get on a horse and "Break thier spirit". Their spirit is trust, faith, and how you know something is wrong. This "Trainer" Should never get on another horse. And you can bet he wont EVER get on mine.

DrunkenCowboy88 4 months ago 2
well my horse is broke and has been for like 14 years but when he is bad the thing that works best for him is to just make him stand still for a while then ask him to go if he dont want to then we stand there for a bit then i ask 2 more times then i take the end of the reins and LIGHTLY tap his butt and click he usally goes with his ears pined back or corse. i never hit him hard but i gess his old owners did or mabe he is just weirder than i thought
1233Maya 4 months ago
@1233Maya Actually you really shouldn't let him stand still like that if he's acting bad. You should make him move his feet because he'll start to think if he misbehaves he won't have to do work. You have to teach it can be the easy way(doing what he should've been doing) or hard way(or misbehaving and having to work harder).
VivaLaEquus 4 months ago
@VivaLaEquus well yeah i gess but i use him for berrals and all so if he is being bad its usally him trying to run or speed up when i dont want him to. but if he bucks then i canter him around the ring like 3 times then back him up and he stands there for a min then hes fine.... usally
1233Maya 4 months ago
I wouldnt go so far as to call it abuse but i will call it poor horsemanship. The horse seemed like he was not enjoying the ride and the rider made him even more upset. His hands were all over the place, he had poor balance and was getting more and more frustrated so the horse was feeding off of it. Just my views. And i'm pretty sure i heard thunder in the background. That probably didnt help.
whatariot37 4 months ago
If the guy could learn to be quieter with his hands he could be quite a useful rider. He needs some good lessons on the lunge, he needs to quieten down and he needs to think about horses as sentient beings.

ShaunieM25 4 months ago
@drinkmoretui From an expert - the rider should never get on this horse until he goes thru training himself - including anti-cruelty training. This horse is not learning anything in his frame of mind, and the guy is only teaching him to fight back at confusing and unclear signals. Then, IS EVERYONE BLIND, the guy starts hitting the horse and using the reins like a whip on his whithers - what is he doing to this horse! I would never let him near my horses EVER!!!!!

pull back on them ! if a horse is bucking, the calm and well mannered horsemanship way to gain control of your body before the horse is to grab a handful or two of mane and hold on no horse that is trained right will buck .
kelziikatastrophii 4 months ago
@kelziikatastrophii You can't say that "no horse that is trained right will buck". Horses buck for many different reasons. Not just cuz of bad training. No you are not s'posed to jerk the reins, but you don't want to let go of them either.
rideralmighty 4 months ago
people like this shouldnt be allowed to even touch a horse ! i agree the stirrups are too short and i may be young but i do train horses myself (western) and im learning english currently and thats just not how it works ! this IS horse abuse. the stirrups are too short which make him off balance and wobbly so he jerks on the reins when its his fault not the horses. the horse is only responding to the riders bad body language towards him! and for one you are NOT supposed to jerk the reins or
kelziikatastrophii 4 months ago
@kelziikatastrophii i don't agree, this is a green horse, possibly the first time ridden, he is learning power steering and forward, the rider is fairly passive, only encouraging the forward motion and trying to correct his steering. he can ride mine any time. this could be a race stable, a good reason for the shorter stirrup length and they have to learn some control before they head out to the track.
derbys1mom 4 months ago
There are only two things wrong with this trainer. His stirrups are too short, therefore, his legs are too far forward. And then there is the shoes. But other than that, his riding/training is fine. All ya'll saying that he is pulling on the reins too much, have you sat on a bucking horse. Doubt it. if ya did, you would know that when they buck, you dont want to loosen contact, cuz then they learn that they can get out of having contact when they buck.

appystarz001 5 months ago
Yanking= no no. However, I think the rider was pretty successful despite that. Despite the fact he has no idea of leg placement or how to really ride.. heh... If the horse bucks, push them forward. Do not pull back. As bad as that sounds. When you get the connection in the reins- soft connection, you can get their head up to a place where they cant buck. Then teach them to use themselves. I would be bucking too if that guy was yanking on my face....
ShadowFoxX1355 5 months ago
I HAVE broken quite a few horses in, actually..... and this could be as simple as a tack change...but something tells me it have something to do with the agressive yanking on the horses bit he is doing. He pretty much ruined a horse by doing that. And in my opinion, he's rideing like complete shit, yanking the mouth, kicking and kicking, have you never learne ASK?? If i did that and my trainer saw she would have ripped me off that horse, put a peice of metal between my teeth and yanked on it!

BrawlerBitch 5 months ago
@BrawlerBitch I support discaplining horses when they are being comple3te brats and acting up. But in this case the rider was the problem. NEVER yank a horses mouth like that, I know many many many pleasure riders suport yanking and spruing to put a horses head down and to keep them slow, and it's wrong in my eyes. But this is ripping on the horses mouth, He very well could have ruined this horse. And yes, i HAVE broke quite a few horses and ridden MANY problem ones.

TheDenverOmelette 5 months ago
@TheDenverOmelette You're joking. Tell ya what. Let's put a piece of metal in your mouth and have someone jerking on the reins like this schmo is doing. A trainer should ideally know how to ride a horse properly before calling himself a trainer, and there's a big difference between being able to stay in the saddle and actual equitation. The clown in the clip shouldn't ride a dime store horse.
dunblobbon 5 months ago
@dunblobbon Did he ever tell you he called himself a trainer? And you can't judge his equitation when the horse is, you know, bucking. I'm pretty sure you don't look very pretty when your horse is acting up either. It's just ridiculous how horse people act toward other horse people. You see one 2:36 video and assume you've seen his whole riding career.

mquigly1547 6 months ago
@mquigly1547 I would completely agree that the horse is being a real brat, but I would say that this rider is lacking skill and knowledge to properly deal with such a brat of a horse. His basic form and posture are giving him no stability, which is causing him to use the reins to hold himself on, further pissing off the horse. His frustration is leading him to further jerk on the reins and slap the horse. In the end the horse will either give up fighting, or get worse.
jmdnarri 5 months ago

The commenters on here obviously know nothing about training, this is how a horse becomes perfected and he is doing it right he has the reins slightly pulled to the left to keep the horses head down and prevent him from having to much rein and taking off in a dead run or buck on him, the rider isn't abusing the horse he is being very gentle. People only think a rider is good when their riding a perfect horse but how do you think the horse gets that way??? Training and it aint pretty!

You are right on, this gu is doing a good job on a really green colt that is full of himself. After starting colts for over 30 years you learn to deal with all kinds of situations. He is getting the horse to go forward and will eventually get him straight and supple. Don't knock it until you try it and don't take a video clip out of context like this one is and pass judgement.
loumoorejacobsen 5 months ago
@drinkmoretui Although this horse is green and frustrating jerking a horse's head to the side and then slapping it in the face is not considered good training under any circumstance.
Juneaziz 4 months ago
@Juneaziz i notice that there are no videos of you breaking horses in LOL!
drinkmoretui 4 months ago in playlist More videos from Juneaziz
@drinkmoretui Doesn't really matter. I'm not being paid to train someone's horse. The man in the video is training someone ele's horse so it will be ready to play polo. There are plenty of other trainers out there who don't jerk on the horse's mouth or slap it in the face when they get frustrated.
Juneaziz 4 months ago
@drinkmoretui The horse looks broke to me, maybe he hadn't been rode in a while, or was still young, but he lopes nice and rounded, well balanced. I think it was a combination of reasons for the behavior. If I knew where he was, and had funds to get there, I'd ride him. I have rode horses like him, better, and worse. It's just what you get dealt in life.
Turnershot 4 months ago
@drinkmoretui I agree! The horse looks barn sour and is being very rank! I don't see spurs or whips or excessive pulling on the reins. The rider is simply asking the horse to go forward and keep going forward. Actually I think its a good example of riding a buck, sticking like glue with a defensive yet secure seat.
MHF411 4 months ago
@drinkmoretui I don't thinks its abuse, but I do think there are other ways to get him to quit jigging than jerking in his mouth. If you hurt them in the mouth too much most of the time he will rare up and a lot of times fall on you. I line drive mine before I get on them to let them get used to the bit. Then to get on them, I put weight on their back and when they are used to that I lay on them longways. I used to be like this guy and the horses and I got hurt to many times.

He's a sucky rider and trainer. But he was doing the right thing by pulling the horse in a circle while he was bucking. That was about the only right thing in here. I saw a comment about Arabians. If u feel better wearing a helmet by all means do so but dont think u have the right to tell everyone else they have to. and why the fuck are u bitching at me over a comment that is 9 mos old ur either a rejected kid or lonely old bitch. fuck off, get a life

He can't ride so he can't train a horse. The horse was not ready to do what the terrible trainer was asking it to do.
