  • Pleco? How About Oto Catfish? (Otocinclus) Those are Smaller Algae Eater and Grow about 1 and Half Inch Long, and They STAY Small, Plecos get Humungous (I'm Talking about Big as Rabbits Here)...and Sadly As they Get older they get really Aggressive...I'm a Fish Hobbyist LOL... I Love Community Tanks..I Finished my Sea-Monkey Colony and I Caught Wind of These "Triops" and This is Why I'm Here ^^;

  • get alone lol

  • ive got a few, how long do they live?

  • what tank did you use? I am waiting for some triops and need to know what size tank I will need. I am thinking of adding apple snails and maybe a pleco. Thanks! :)

  • woooow great idea ;)

  • Do you still water change a tank like this? If so how often?

  • is the water in the tank spring water or tap water?

  • Nice video and nice tank. I just got my first batch of eggs and i dont want to hatch them till i am fully knowledgeable. Im gonna check out that mytriops page and see what else i can learn. Good job!

  • Nice idea, with the pelco and stuff.

  • pleco wont live long in that tank . they grow up to 20 inchs

  • what do you do with the snails when the triops die off, I want to get a snail for my triops tank but if the triops die, I have to dry the tank out, so what?

  • @SgtHamster45 keep a second tank for the snails in that case, maybe you could keep something like fairy shrimp in that tank

  • @SgtHamster45 you have to put them in a separate tank until you've regrown the triops and are able to add them in again.

  • god! when the pelco blinked o.O i didnt think the eye was that big

  • What kind of screen are you using so they don't get caught in the filter?

  • Triops are beutiful creatures. Can you use tapwater?

  • @Zambaku No only spring water.

  • @Zambaku You can use tap water, but you have to use a water conditioner in it to remove things that would be harmful to both the larger inhabitants of the tank as well as the bacteria that help keep it inhabitable.

  • since you have all those animals doing what they do... do you still need to change the water in the tank?

  • @punkxr0ck3r Yes, because they can't do anything about nitrates. If you want to avoid water changes, look into heavily planting tanks, but still keep an eye on your nitrates.

  • I have a pleco doing well in an unheated turtle pond.

  • i know that in the winter i have to heat my tank, maybe same for him,

  • apple snails eat triops!!!

  • Triops actually require 74 to 88 farsighted

  • they do have genders just the females eggs are all ready fertile and most triops are girls.

  • Where do you get live plants?

  • You can find them at major Fish pet stors or at walmart they sell the seeds

  • lol the pleco will get big...nice tank!!i like triops!!

  • Great video. Great music...

    Excellent.

  • what supplies did u use for the tank?

  • can u you stick your hands in the tank or will it kill the triops? and how do i add gravel without crushing the triops?

  • Do you think a female betta can share a large tank with a triops?

I doubt it, but I bought a pkg of triops for my sibling, and she insists I take one, and I wasnt to save room.

  • At time, 1.05, what is the blue divider called and where can you get them.

What make is your internal carbon filter?

    Thanks for the video..

  • You do know apple snails will eat triops right?

  • Urmm.. can u keep other fishes wif Triops? Will it kill them?

  • sometimes but when there big they wont but the triops will lay eggs and the fish will eat them

  • I want to add gravel but i don't know if they can dig into it...each gravel rock is about half a cm

  • Comment removed

  • do you use air pump or air stones?

  • You and your triops are AWESOME :D

My triops are 1-2 days old :)

  • did you use tap water or did you use a lot of bottled water?

  • triops have 3 eyes

  • I wonder why so many do not take the sand one finds naturally in the biotope of the Triops ...

  • whats on the other side? o.o

  • when did it die or how long did it live

  • mate you have the BEST TANK i ever saw...and your tank is the healthiest...keep up the awesome job :D

  • This vid is what got me to buy 2 plecos for my triops and then when I was putting water dechorinater in the tank it spilled in the triop tank and they died and then I didn't research plecos to they died to. so did my mollies D:

  • how long do they live

  • When your triops all die, put your pleco and snails in a temporary tank and dry this one out. Rehydrate it with distilled water and you'll have a whole new generation of triops. In fact sometimes my rehydration efforts yielded 20-30 nauplii!

  • Q:

    What are Triops?

    A:

They are small freshwater shrimp that grow from tiny eggs that you can buy from most Pet or Toy shops. They are often called Tadpole or Shield Shrimp.

Scientific name is Triops longicaudatus (TRY-OPS LON-GA-CAW-DA-TUS), by far the most common species you'll find on sale in shops as they come from America. Triops cancriformis (TRY-OPS CAN-RIFF-FORM-IS) comes from Europe and grows larger and lives longest!

  • So overfeeding is bad? I never knew that.. I gotta get a water cleaner thing. Also when I was at a site it said "foreign objects are bad for your triops." well since I saw foreign stuff AND also a different specie... I guess I can use my stuff. YAY

  • Foreign stuff are bad if they're any foreign object. I think foreign objects are bad for triop eggs and/or baby triops since they have a rather strict hatching requirement.

  • Cool, your taking great care of them! Remember that that pleco will grow over a foot long and need a 55gal tank someday! Also feed him alage pellets because the alagae growing in the tank isn't enough food.

  • Some species of plecos don't grow over a few inches, I believe mine is one of those. I feed algae waffers to the pleco, both floating and sinking (mostly sinking) pellets to the triops, and the snails gets leftover food :P

  • No that's definatly the common pleco (Scientific name is Hypostamus Plecostamus) who does grow big. Also, is that tank heated?

  • I'll just sell the pleco back to the store when it gets big lol, and get another small one. The tank is heated using a 25watt heater, day temp 24'C, night 22'C
