  • lol that guy looks like mike tyson

  • LOL, I love the irony in the title, "Íts Over".

  • Thanks to the $1.25 restocking thing, one could rent a game and keep it for almost a month. Best deal going at the time. But they charged too much for everything else.

  • oh yeah now am going to keep my favorite more all year!

  • Blobckbuster is back, haven't you seen the commercial?! THANK YOU DISH NETWORK!

  • where the hell am i going to be able to get video game rentals now??.... I hope Gamestop get's into it or something cause I have to buy the game now instead of trying it out to see if ill like it....

  • NO MORE BLOCKBUSTER!

  • This commercial did not apply to me because both of the closest when this commercial came out did not take part of this promotion what so ever.

  • FALSE,Blockbuster isn't dead,Xandror&Frednora.Dish won the auction to buy BB.

  • There is still BB were I live but I bet if netflix had added games a long time ago sheeit I bet BB would hav closed a while back

  • No more no more late fees. This lasted like what, a year?

  • @wojovox technically if you kept ur movie more than 7 days it sold to you, if you returned it then you got ur money back and only paid $1.25 restocking fee. there has always been some kind of fee when a movie is late!!!!

  • Yup blockbuster is closing with Huge sales on games and movies near my area

  • Blockbuster sucked. I'm glad they are gone. And, here's why. Unlike most places, that give me two days, with a game, Blockbuster only gave a day and a half. I don't even like to get out of BED before NOON. I tried to rent a game system from them once. They wouldn't take my cash! This was, of course, before they started "trusting" people. Ha! And, now, they're gone.

  • "No more late fees!" "No more late fees!"

Yeah. I'm with them. This modern society's so cruel, isn't it? Asking grown men and women to act like...responsible adults? Oh, my God! How awful! Like, with me. I have to...work....40 hours a week! Or else I don't get no money, to rent movies, and stuff! It's so hard! I hate it!

  • A lot of Blockbusters closed in New Jersey. :(

  • Blockbuster is closing down here in Cali blockbuster sucks now I have not been to one in like 6 years cuz they suck ass.

    NETFLIX FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • blockbuster is gone, because of the fuckin red box shit, i mean what blockbuster should do is, only lend video games, because hte reason people are going to redbox is because a dollar a night is all it takes, but with video games, 2 dollars a night, which isn't fair to be paying that much for a couple days of gameplay, blockbuster might have a chance, but it seems pretty slim of them ever getting back to what they used to be.

  • They will need to try harder to fight netflix.....

  • Hey alohabudy, a lot of Blockbuster stores closed up here in Canada.

  • R.I.P. Blockbuster

  • @11cost1 you will be missed *sniffle* :'(

  • EXACTLY, THERE ARE LATE FEES.

  • I remember when they did this cause some woman sued them cause she didnt return one video and charged her with over 150 bucks in fines.

  • Blockbuster is pretty much "over".

  • No more blockbuster.

  • all it means with blockbuster stores closing is the people working there are now competing for everyone else's jobs, everyone should want them to stay open, so jobs will be in more supply...... I wonder if there has been anyone who hated blockbuster lost their job to a previous blockbuster employee, that would be a story :)

  • @ih8ContentID I'm sorry that Blockbuster will probably try to stop you from receiving unemployment when they close.

  • Someday, you'll remember where you were when you first heard that Blockbuster was going out of business. I'll be saying "It's so beautiful."

  • It's over all right

  • RIP Blockbuster.. 20 years from now when I have my own kids and see them renting movies from Netflix having no idea what Blockbuster is, I'll sure remember my teen years going to a Blockbuster store and picking up a physical copy of a movie. RIP, look what technology has done to us. SMH

  • @datpimpinboy renting from netflix in 20yrs? i doubt any of us will be renting in 10yrs lol. something new is bound to come out.

  • @acedaface954 Yes, I think many big companies are very hard-headed and refuse to change along with technology. Blockbuster was run by idiots, they had no idea how to keep up with Netflix, THEY HAD OVER 10 YEARS to come up with something similar to Netflix, even worst, they had an offer to buy Netflix in 2000 for 50M dollars!! I just wish this hadnt happend because I truly enjoyed going to BB all this years. Or look at Circuit City, another big business that couldnt keep up with the competition..

  • @datpimpinboy its al about the new these days. And companies like circuit city and blockbuster refuse to believe in changing their old ass prehistoric ways of running business. I will miss blockbeter though.

  • @acedaface954 Yup. To think if Blockbuster had done a few things differently such as making a streaming video system such as Netflix and lowering their rental price AND THE FREAKING OVERPRICED CANDY they would still be alive today. They changed the way we rented videos but thought that was the end of it. I guess they realized too late when everyone hated them already. I will miss BB too, but as sad as it is, it was their fault...

  • @datpimpinboy lol right man their snack bar's prices were outrageous. but that comes with convenience so i can understand why they would charge $2 for a snicker bar worth .50 at waknart. don't use their online video streamer. they charge by the movie. monthly fee + you pay for each movie viewing. netflix is the way to go. 7.99/mth and i watch what i want depending on if it can be streamed of course. still better then blockbuster.

  • @acedaface954 yup. Oh well Ima keep renting from BB until my local store is gone (which will be pretty soon) after that, hello Netflix lol

  • @datpimpinboy lol shit I didn't even know my neighborhood store closed. So good luck until yours does dawg.

  • @acedaface954 lol aight... they are already selling all their shit so they're gonna last just a few more weeks

  • @acedaface954 smh the mighty have fallen

  • They're closing my local blockbuster

  • Fun to see the advert for the decision that ruined Blockbusters.

  • This also made getting a game hard to find I remember having to wait a Month to be able to Rent Mario Galaxy......!

  • this was such a bad idea because so many fucking pieces of shit never returned anything until almost two or three weeks later and by then no one wanted the movies that had been out that long

  • actually i still had to pay late fees after this

  • its over alright lol

  • it is over your company is bankrupt fags lol

  • @mramazingracist100 Died by there own stupidity maybe if they brought back 99¢ rentals on there older videos they would still be open today.....?

  • @METALMAN4Wii they are still open..and there are 99 ¢ rentals and express boxes like redbox.

  • @mramazingracist100 one day nearly every company that's around today will have gone out of buseness. nothing lasts forrever. and the onely one who's a fag is you cause your probably some fat ass consumed by laziness and technology that you have to have fucking netflix. so instead of actually going out of the house, going somewhere for a change, and picking out any movie you please, you have to sit around on your fat ass and wait for the movie you want to arive in the mail for 24 hours or longer.

  • @ninja909 not really actually im a fitness model not kidding i am 100 % serious mens fitness muscle and fitness and i am going to school to become a physical therapist but nice try ...and yeah blockbuster are you joking your going to defend them... they robbed ppl with late fees for yearsz im glad to see them die out now i dont have to see the dumb fagz that work there or the corporate bastards on tv or in my neighborhood yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • @ninja909 and FYI i was just trolling lol

  • @mramazingracist100 you have no life

  • Comment removed

  • So yeah, I'd like to rent 100 videos games at about 5 dollars each and keep them all.

  • "It's over" is right...how ironic

  • @djkham yup. pretty sad.

  • is that kid cudi at 0:07 ?

  • I can't wait to get promoted to customer! I'm tired of BB's shit. NOW GO BUY A PICKLE IN A POUCH.

Sorry, they've gotten to my brain.

  • LOL @ 57 secs, "The New Blockbuster"?

  • I wish Blockbuster the best, but they did this to themselves. They'll spend a while as a distant second fiddle to Netflix (Redbox I put in a totally different catagory because their selection is so crap), and maybe they can ressurect themselves in the future. I don't think they're dead at all but they have work to do. There is a Blockbuster about 2 miles from my house but I haven't been inside it since 2006.

  • How about no more ban on NC-17 rated movies! That's why I'm going to be happy when there's no more Blockbuster!

  • sad to see brands i gre up with disappearing :-(

  • @acedaface954 I know, to think in 20 years no one's gonna know what Blockbuster is... :(

  • @datpimpinboy i know right. we're witnessing a lot of changes every year. goes to show you that big business truly is bad business.

  • @acedaface954 ..... and that's true lol god knows what kind of technolgy there's gonna be in 20 years, maybe we just have to think about a movie and we can pop it out of some sort of portable movie machine lol idk..

  • @datpimpinboy ha! Exactly what I was thinking. Same thing with smartphones. They'll be typing with just a thought making both qwerty keyboards and even touchscreens obsolete.

  • @acedaface954 lol yea. Technology is changing the world "crazily" fast, some for good, some for bad. It's like those automatic paying machines at some walmarts, at some point in time, they are gonna replace human beings as cashiers lol this is crazy.

  • LMAO!!!!!! now threres no more blockbuster thier "OVER" Now you will remenber where you were when you first heard there are "NO MORE BLOCKBUSTER!!!" The start of Netflix!!!! LMAO!!!

  • @0:11

    the nurse from scrubs!!!!!!!!

    lmao!

  • Fuck Blockbuster for accusing me of not returning a rental that I clearly remember returning. Fuck you Blockbuster for hiring hipster douche bags who would judge me for the movies/documentaries/video games that I would rent. Fuck you.

  • Blockbuster is over!

  • So what happened with this gimmick? Did people just never return DVDs?

  • And now, it's over for Blockbuster.

  • shut this satanic distribution center...it's an abomination...

  • Well lol, that's what happens. Blockbuster crushed the local video store businesses. Years later, the internet chokes Blockbuster.

  • HAHAHAHA yeah it's over allright HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • theyre filing bankruptcy this month

  • @gamingg0d6493 I'm happy they are going out of business

  • NO MORE BLOCKBUSTER

    NO MORE BLOCKBUSTER

    THEY'RE GOING BANKRUPT

  • @sygnus5 HOORAY!

  • let blockbuster suck my prick i oll the rent there just as good

  • Dumbest thing any business has ever done ever...this is what killed Blockbuster...saying good-bye to millions of dollars a year is not intelligent...

  • <-former blockblister employee. I remember when this stupid promo got going. The disclaimer was NOWHERE to be found, so that meant every asshole (I grew up on the Jersey Shore...no it's not like the show...but it's pretty damn close!) could bitch about a $2.50 cent late fee and our DM (the wonderful testieless wonder he was) would bow to them. I mean no customers = no paycheck. But this was fucking insane. I could make commission over all the times I heard "no wonder you're getting sued."

  • <-Blockbuster employee. Lol so much rage on comments for this vid. I love how idiots think that redbox is some kinda savior from the big bad blockbuster late fees. But dont relize that redbox has an even worse latefee policy and even autochrage peoples credit cards if they return a movie in "non-functioning condition"

  • I had 5 movie rental places in my town....Red box came and and destroyed all the small businesses.........hmmm sounds like walmart. i wonder.......

  • And this "brilliant" move by John Antioco pretty much sealed the fate of Blockbuster. Of course, it was inevitable that the brick and mortar concept would be phased out anyway, however the company could still have invested in streaming, digital downloads, their mail service, On Demand, and so forth. But now, they lost so much revenue from this strategy, they will have to file bankruptcy.

    Blockbuster is dead.

  • @MystikWizard sorry to sound dumb, but why is this what caused Blockbusters bankruptcy? I mean, didnt this bring more customers in?

  • @datpimpinboy

It's not dumb, at all. The deal didn't wind up bringing more customers back to Blockbuster, like they hoped. When they made this move, it was already too late and the writing was on the wall that Blockbuster was going down. The current crop of customers abused End of Late Fees to no end, and kept product as long as they wanted. As a result, there was never any inventory in the stores of the titles customers were looking for, and we collected to fees for loss revenue.

  • @MystikWizard So basically BB is dead first of all for the idiots who ran the company and later on for those who decided to keep the movies as long as they pleased. It's pretty sad that a business that at some point in time had so much money is now near its "death". Hopefully this teaches a lesson to other businesses, something that Blockbuster should have learned when Circuit City went out of business for similar reasons. Incredible that Netflix offered themselves to BB for 50M dollars in 2000

  • @MystikWizard

I meant, we collect no fees for loss revenue. Sorry for the typo.

  • @MystikWizard yup i got it

  • hahaha...they out of business now...thank u Redbox for get rid of these bastard

  • @thekingofsudan You're kidding right? Redbox is a joke.

  • additional daily rates, same thing redbox does. late fees would go for an unlimited time. and have intrest.

  • Hahahahaha, what a fucking scam. The sad thing is that it made things about 100 times more hellish for the employees than the customers.

  • is nutbuster video still even open? I think its about time someone takes this corporate dinosaur outback and bashes it over the head with a shovel.

  • Boo Blockbuster.

  • I find it funny that netflix stocks are over $100 a share and blockbuster stocks are 0.44$ a share.

  • @One3teen Actually they sank down to under 30 cents a share and the company has now been delisted from the New York Stock Exchange...

  • @Webhead731 Thank You!!

Everyone else, shut up and quit griping about a 3-year-old commercial and pay attention to your dang receipt!!! Get over yourself! It's not the employee's fault!

  • @bagirl07 <--- Blockbuster employee who's soon to be unemployed and living out of her car.

  • They're called Aditional Daily rates for legal reasons now

  • Oh, it's over alright. Bankrupt.

  • @remakesformoney LMBO YEP!! and there definetly paying fees

  • it's back

  • lol that didn't last

  • An epic commercial, but its message no longer rings true. Not only are there late fees again, they just shortened the amount of time you can rent a film. :P

I'm guessing they won't run commercials publicizing those little changes!

  • NOW THERE ARE LATE FEES!!

  • @camel595 too bad. We never saw the movies again when there weren't any fees. lol

    No late fees, NO REVENUE!

    Yes im a Blockbuster employee.

  • @tj526 What do you mean no revenue? Used movies are cheap, people pay just to rent them and they bring them back for more people to rent.

  • If people would just pay attention you wouldn't have to pay the restocking fees. And you still get to keep the movie for over a week after the due date. What's the damn problem? I'm so tired of people coming up to the register 3 YEARS LATER asking, "What happened to no late fees?" When's the last time you saw this commercial on the tv?!

  • @bagirl07

YES! Thank you! I work there too, and I am also sick of that!

  • ther are no more late fees. they're "restocking fees"

  • too bad they are all closing down, i guess no more lare fees literally

  • Someday you'll remember where were you when you found out Blockbuster is bankrupt.

  • What a fiasco this turned out to be. I worked at Blockbuster when this commercial came out and we did not have this policy (we were a franchise store and didn't have to). I had a guy imitate this commercial when I told him that our store did indeed have late fees. I guess he thought that would convince me to take his fee off. I didn't.

  • You too, huh? Yeah, when this ad campaign started, I worked at a franchised location who still had late fees. It was pretty crazy for a little while, but cooler heads prevailed. Still, though, it'd have been nice if corporate had made it clear that that was only at corporate-run locations.

  • Comment removed

  • turns out this was a trick :P

  • is there any way to download this video? i really need to use it for my business project

  • @all3aboutheshoes3

    try mediaconverter (dot) org

  • The deal with the No More Late Fees was that you could have it for a few extra days, but if you turned it in very late you had to buy the movie/game at full price.

  • omg. that woman from :12 is laverne from scrubs!

    haha nice.

  • jesse.m song its over would be better on this

  • and.....the late fees are back

  • is that black chick lavern from scrubs?

  • i thought of this when i saw the dark knight when they are at the press conference and they are talking about batman turning himself in.

    "NO MORE BATMAN"

    "NO MORE CORRUPTION"

    "NO MORE LATE FEES!"

  • That's right. No more late fees, just stocking fees.

  • bs the blockbuster store in my town still has late fees or as they call them "extended viewing fees"

  • There is no more no more late fees.

  • Love how they used Roy Orbison's song. Amazing song..

  • OMG I love this commercial - thanks for posting!

  • Yeah, No more late fees but there's still the asshole customers.

    -Former employee
