Thank you romeikos, in all your video's Turks and Greeks come closer .. thank you brother .. this is much better than all that racist crap ! We are neighbors, and once we even called each others brothers, lived togetter made music togetter, ate togetter, danced togetter ..
we lived in peace for years and but according to politicians we hate from each other. Buut the funny thing is old greeks speak in turkish, while old turkish speaks in greek-- i am talking about the refugees. I dont hate greeks- i have lots of greek friends, they dont hate us. so whats the problem?
my granny was Greek Katina I am Armenian/Turkish... I love all nationals with all my heart... music is the only thing politicians can NOT interfeere with.. bless you all... love the world of music :-)) ty
3) To all Turks, Arabs, Persians, Israelites, Westeners and others, please do not seek any "racist" attitude in my analysis: although EQUAL, we are NOT identical. Sometimes, what makes us dirrerent is "embarassing".. and, at times, we are thankful. Concerning Marika: her interpretation makes me PROUD to be part of that TRADITION with some of its SIGNIFICANT CHARACTERISTICS...
I've made some comments concerning parameters that are different (of course, there are are SIMILARITIES, but I'm mainly interested in what makes our HELLENIC music HELLENIC, EVEN if the ORIGINAL melody may come from other traditions: these parameters ares METROPHONIA (intervals and melodic skeleton), RHYTHM and a GREAT variator called CHRONOS...The question is why Greeks "had it" until the 1940s and now they no longer don't... whereas Turks as more or less "stable" in their traditions' transmsn
This song was made from a turkish diplomat who went back home to Istanbul/Constantinople.But unfortunatly his wife died in an accident. This song is describing his loss.
Beautiful clip - it just goes to show that our lives on this planet are too short to think ourselves different from others just by virtue of a different language or religion etc
Would anyone be able to post the Greek/Turkish words with English translations - would be amazingly helpful (sorry for any trouble!)
We are the only two people who will drink our raki/uzo in the corner of a tavern with teary eyes to this music...
