Your video is helpful, but you say that Javascript is a programming langauge, it was my understanding Java is the prgramming language while Javascript is a web scripting langauge? Is this correct?
Also what program are you using in this tutorial? What language are you using, what is the $ for?
JavaScript is a web scripting language but it is not limited to the web. Java is also a scripting language, it's interpreted rather then compiled well it is compiled but not into machine readable code.
The program is notepadd++ a great free text editor. I'm using PHP( also a web scripting language ) in this tutorial I might remake it using C++, the $ is used to declare variables PHP and Perl maybe other languages too.
Personally I like C more but C++ has classes and namespaces which are used in more modern languages so I figure that will be better for a more advanced programming introduction. Notepad++ is only a text editor how ever you can use it to run commands turning it into something of an IDE.
Integrated Development Environment. It has everything build right ( well not built in but has access to it ), text editor, syntax checking, debugger, compiler/interpreter, etc.. Its great once you know the language other wise it just gets in the way of learning with auto-complete and other useful but lazy features.

Awesome, some C++ videos would be awesome. Can notepad++ be used to compile C++ programs?
