  • I had HG during both my pregnancies. The second time around was much worse, enough to make us decide we couldn't have any more kids. I had to get fluids on a few occasions, and had an infusion pump of Reglan in my leg. I was very fortunate to not need anything past that. My mother and sister never had this. My grandmother had once told me that she had the same sickness. My heart goes out to the women who are able to go through this disease multiple times.

  • I'm hearing my story through your voice. I didn't lose my son because of Hyperemesis, but I'm SURE that is why my son has a severe speech delay. I got pregnant again when my first son was 15 months. And it happened again. I had Hyperemesis 5 or 6 weeks into my pregnancy. I was put on a Zofran pump and I felt almost normal again. My second son is "normal." I would like to try one more time for girl... but I'm scared to throw up again. I'm scared of going through that emotional turmoil again.

  • I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant and have been suffering from HG since 5 weeks. If you're still researching and need more samples I would be happy to participate as a cure is so badly needed. I was in the hospital 3 times between 5-10 weeks, but I'm currently on a Zofran Pump and IV fluid in the home, and I don't feel like i'm dying as long as I stay in bed. I feel so badly for other victims that have it even worse than I.

  • This is my first pregnancy & I am going through HG as I'm writing this. I am completely traumatized. Funny thing is I don't want our baby to be an only child like me. BUT a lot of women say you get it with each pregnancy. :( please find a cure.

  • GOOD LUCK with your study! I had HG and I VOWED to NEVER get pregnant again! I had a nurse come to my home and set me up with an IV in my thigh and ZOFRAN! It slowly but surely worked! I stopped having symptoms by my fifth month. I gvae birth to a HEALTHY 9lb. BABY GIRL!!! lol

  • I have HG and am 15 weeks .... I have been out of work for 10 weeks, in hospital 4 weeks of that, put on tpn a month ago and continue that with 6 different prescription drugs. It is extremely horrible, something you just can not even begin to imagine, it changes your life!! This is my FIRST AND LAST pregnancy! I am glad to see someone is studying this to find a cure!

  • I had HG with my first pregnancy when I was 18. By the 5th month I was able to keep food down but had a very difficult pregnancy even after the vomiting stopped. I was told by my ob/gyn that it was highly unlikely that I would have HG in any future pregnancies. But since then I've been pregnant 3 more times and have had HG EVERY time!!!!!

  • I am recovering from HG it definately something that changes you forever. living on a ensure sucked.

  • I have HG & I am 18 weeks, a week hospital stay, fluids & anit nausiation med nothing was workn, i begged my doctor to give me the steriods that work last time. Im 3 days into takeing them & I can keep down alil food & water. I havent read anywhere that steriod has been an option when clearly it helps. Just wanted to tell anyone going through this what worked for us.

  • @MamiNytessa

What is the name of the steroid?

Im 3 days into takeing them & I can keep down alil food & water. I havent read anywhere that steriod has been an option when clearly it helps. • I am a part of the case study. I went through a central line in my chest and 2 PICC lines with fluid, zofran and phenergan along with a multi vitamin. I started at 140 pounds and ended at 90 pounds. I was told i was crazy and sent to a pshychiatrist by my doctors. I delivered at 38 weeks my son. He has health problems and has had surgery. This is a life changing disease and I have forever been changed.

  • mine started a week ago,i am soooo miserable and have to work at my store everyday, with my 21 month old.it is so hard to be happy about the pregnancy while suffering throught this.my last pregnancy i almost lost three times

  • In the hospital on a PICC line now; 13 weeks along and it started at week 6. As soon as this baby is delivered I'm going to do what I can to help fund research to finding a cure for this terrible condition.

  • Had HG in 1998, had a T/L after ...never again! Live in Australia but happy to contribute to study if still need recruits.

  • I suffered from this...i didn't even realized it had a name until today....this is a very serious condition in pregnancy and it needs to brought attention so pregnant women can get help and not suffer like I did.. no pregnant woman should be vomiting so hard that she damages her intestines and spits up blood...

  • I had severe HG; pretty much the same as everyone else. I didn't respond to Zofran, Reglan or IV treatments. I was sick for all 9 months and recovered immediately after a successful and healthy pregnancy.

  • i had this same exact thing except with my first pregnancy i weighed 170 by the time i had my first daughter i was down to 125lbs the second pregnancy i was very heavy and lost 103lbs i had to get my tubes clipped and burned because my doctor didnt know how to fix this...

  • HG with several pregnancies. Bedridden, vomiting, unable to care for other children. Hospital/IVs. Babies to term with HG-all girls (3). Figured miscarriages were girls. Researched, read you may not get sick with baby of opposite sex. Read book on trying for opposite sex. It worked- was a boy, felt great. Got pregnant again-surprise. Mostly felt great-surprised it was a girl. Wondered if babies I had HG with had a different blood type-I am O rh negative. Research long overdue

  • Thank you so much! This is my 3rd pregnancy with HG...I cried when I found out about this current pregnancy because I didn't know if I could handle HG again.

  • You are an angel. Im currently going through HG for the 2nd time. Some days I wish that I would die so I didnt have to go through this everyday. My dr. just prescribed me another med since the 1st one didnt work.

  • It is wonderful to know that there are people who want to find a cure. It is horrible. This is my 2nd time around experiencing this!

  • Good to ivestigate the genetics of this-do you suspect this to be connected with dysautonomia and motility disorders?

  • i would not wish this disease on my worst enemy -and i have a few!!. i want to get pregnant again but i am scared of having extreme hg -what are the new treatments ?good luck with this study

  • You are my hero, too! Thank you SO much for taking this on this project, you will be helping thousands and thousands of women. You are amazing and am so looking forward to your results!

  • Thank god someone is bothering to look into this, i have registered to take part in this study, I wish there was an organisation like this in the U.K Lauren x

  • This lady is my hero. I'm glad someone is doing research on HG.

  • I understand everything your going through..l had hypermensis both pregnancy but miscarried i was so severley sick that the thought of dieing would of been the easy way out. thank you for posting this video its a very hard thing to go through

  • my daughter has had hg with both her pregnancies. it,s been awful.she was hospitalized both times and had anti nausia medsalthough they did,nt work. it,s great to know that someone wants to find some answers for this.

  • I also had HG. It was a frightening and lonely experience. I am taking part in the above study and trying to find a cure so that no one has to go throught what I did.

  • It has been 2 1/2 years since I gave birth to my second child and I still cry whenever I think about my pregnancy.I was hospitalized within 5 days of finding out I was pregnant. In less then 2 weeks I lost 20 pounds.I threw up 12-15 hours a day until my throat was bleeding. I didn't eat for over 30 days when they finally decided to give me the TPN.I litterally didn't walk for 3 months and even to roll over caused me to throwup.I was told that with each preg it would get worse. Please find a cure

  • I have an acupuncture/herbal patient who has suffered with this in all of her 6 pregnancies and is pregnant again. I will see if she wishes to participate. She has a history of liver damage. A past hyperemesis patient had a psychological etiology- she had been raped leading to her first pregnancy and the second one seemed to trigger the feelings and the hyperemesis again. Thanks for working on the study.

  • I have had 2 pregancys and I have had severe symptoms.

I have not been taken seriously.. either time.. I was only provided with minor anti nausea meds. I never got an iv although i needed one. I will email anyway. I was like 125 and went down to 96 lbs by 4 months with my second pregnancy. I have to be cared for and I am constantly sick and unable to care for myself or others. Thanks for helping us Marlena. I am a psychology student and I feel a strong need to help as well.

  • Fabulous to see this, Marlena. I'm trying to find my med records to fwd to you for the study. I cry when I discuss or hear about HG.

  • I have a friend who went full term whilst suffering with HG, we live in Monterey and incedentaly my husband went to USC. I shall speak to her and see if she wishes to help in your study.

  • Every person counts! We are at 550 participants but need 1,000. Thank you for referring your friend!

    Marlena
