for me all kalmah alvums sound the same. nd thats not a ba thing, so if i like one kalmah album ill like them all which is fantastic. COBs blooddrunk really wasnt that good it was missing the keyboard even tough it wasstill there it wasnt like in hate cree or followthe reaper.
in conclusion all kalmah albums are just a little above average and bodoms first four are fantastic and are you dad yet is average so really its a tie
Well if you want my opinion I think that Kalmah's music is the best music i've heard in any melodeath band. Only Band i would compare it to would be EToS. The fact that they combine Melodeath with a few thrash is great. Apart from that some people just don't like Pekka's voice... well it's up to the person but for me its Kalmah>COB (not having heard that much of COB but still... a few songs are enough i think..)

as I said mate it is all up to the person. I Have heard to DT generally in flames insomnium and amon amarth and as i said for me they are the best... I dont doubt that DT has a much more melodic music but still Kalmah for me is the perfect combo between Melodeath+Thrash as shown in this album

well, bodom and kalmah style are basicly the same, considering they have the same line-up, only that kalmah has a more violent aproach, and bodom's new albums sound more like experimenting a new sound that actually sounds pretty good, i'm a huge fan of both bands

I think my head just exploded because you said Something Wild is better than Hatebreeder. Alexi admited to hating Something Wild because he was trying to copy Yngwie. Hatebreeder is the pure self-hatred Bodom had before Roope.

from what i have herd after the couple months, it is two different words. it may be "it may be we die but it different each time around. you can clearly hear a "s" at the end of it one time around, then its slightly different. but i could be all wrong together...
well neoclassical is one way of putting it, but they probably consider themselves more death/thrash than anything, given their myspace. But when it comes to metal, bands can be categorized in so many ways. Hey by the way they updated their site on time with the release of the album; you guys should go check it out.
well man its not really neo-classical death metal, although they do incorporate some neo-classical elements. and its cool because Pekka (vocalist/guitarist) listens to classical music. And the Antti (lead guitarist) studied some classical guitar. But a great slow neo-classical part on this whole album is on "Dead Man's Shadow". Its so amazing and its unlike anything kalmah has every composed!!

Quit the fucking comparing between Kalmah and COB. There may be some similarities between Kalmah and COB but they are whole different bands. Kalmah's music has soul and lyrics aren't so immature like Cob's are. I don't like that middle finger attitude which Cob uses at all. I think COB makes fucking mainstream shit nowadays just because they need to make an album for a tour. That's my opinion. Period.

Yes, nowadays COB tries to mix US thrash and metalcore riffs and sounds with something of their own style, but I think it doesn't work. Keyboards just rape that music genre, doesn't fit in at all.

I read an interview a while ago and I read they use Line 6 amps for playing and recording. Don't know which model exactly, but it must be a high-end model. Btw, I like how Line 6 is constantly trying new sounds and stuff.
That review was kinda old I guess, since I just read at their office website that the lead guitar uses a Peavy 6505, the same that use In Flames, I think, and lots of other Death Metal bands. The other guitar I think it uses a Laney, or maybe another Peavy.
For The Revolution is FUCKING AMAZING, I was worried myself since I liked TBW, but some songs didn't really ticked me at all, the whole album is incredible, fuck I don't know what would have been of finnish melodic death metal if it wasn't for Kalmah since the new Norther = Britney Spears with a distorded guitar and new Bodom = better than taking a tylenol pm, For The Revolution 10/10, the only thing you'll regret about it is not getting this album the day it came out. PS: Yes, is that good.
ive never really liked bodom, theyr music is too american if that makes sence, and not anywhere near as awesome as kalmah, why does everyone compare kalmah with bodom? kalmah is much more melodic and they dont cover brittney spears songs on their freaking records.

Man, I was so worried this album was going to be like Blooddrunk or Zero Nexus; a disappointing, anticipated album from what used to be an amazing band. But! Kalmah has broken the recent trend of shitty albums with For The Revolution; it's truly epic.

well, i believe Henrik leaving skyfire is not a HUGE deal and it doesnt take away from their musical abilities. Sure, he was an awesome vocalist, but ive heard the new vocalist and hes impressive. I am greatly looking foward to their new release. Im sure it will be amazing!! they say it will sound similar to Timeless Departure but have the aggressiveness of Spectral. But yea, this song by Kalmah is so amazingly great! Its symphonic like the black waltz and the mixing of vocals is pure genius.

from what i have herd after the couple months, it is two different words. it may be "it may be we die but it different each time around. you can clearly hear a "s" at the end of it one time around, then its slightly different. but i could be all wrong together...

well neoclassical is one way of putting it, but they probably consider themselves more death/thrash than anything, given their myspace. But when it comes to metal, bands can be categorized in so many ways. Hey by the way they updated their site on time with the release of the album; you guys should go check it out.

well man its not really neo-classical death metal, although they do incorporate some neo-classical elements. and its cool because Pekka (vocalist/guitarist) listens to classical music. And the Antti (lead guitarist) studied some classical guitar. But a great slow neo-classical part on this whole album is on "Dead Man's Shadow". Its so amazing and its unlike anything kalmah has every composed!!

man,kalmah is the best melodeath band ever. So quit comparing bodom and kalmah, they dont have anything but hairstyles in common. Bodom is just a teen pop band, kalmah is the awesome über-metal god band, they have an idea in their lyrics (not like bodom: fuck fuck shit shit fuck shit...) they have way better songs and they just are better than cob. And, alexi laiho cant even play that shit he writes live! so: kalmah ftw, cob... not ftw.

well I just dont get it y does people always compare kalmah with bodom I often heard the rumours that they rip off from bodom which is actually not true kalmahs music and bodoms music is totally different plus bodom tours with lamb of god slayer so their music is kindda different nowadays and hopes better for the new album though they completely lost their track from classical feel but have to agree that kalmahs new album is godly it has folkish thrash and their old elements feel

Quit the fucking comparing between Kalmah and COB. There may be some similarities between Kalmah and COB but they are whole different bands. Kalmah's music has soul and lyrics aren't so immature like Cob's are. I don't like that middle finger attitude which Cob uses at all. I think COB makes fucking mainstream shit nowadays just because they need to make an album for a tour. That's my opinion. Period.

Yes, nowadays COB tries to mix US thrash and metalcore riffs and sounds with something of their own style, but I think it doesn't work. Keyboards just rape that music genre, doesn't fit in at all.

I read an interview a while ago and I read they use Line 6 amps for playing and recording. Don't know which model exactly, but it must be a high-end model. Btw, I like how Line 6 is constantly trying new sounds and stuff.

That review was kinda old I guess, since I just read at their office website that the lead guitar uses a Peavy 6505, the same that use In Flames, I think, and lots of other Death Metal bands. The other guitar I think it uses a Laney, or maybe another Peavy.

For The Revolution is FUCKING AMAZING, I was worried myself since I liked TBW, but some songs didn't really ticked me at all, the whole album is incredible, fuck I don't know what would have been of finnish melodic death metal if it wasn't for Kalmah since the new Norther = Britney Spears with a distorded guitar and new Bodom = better than taking a tylenol pm, For The Revolution 10/10, the only thing you'll regret about it is not getting this album the day it came out. PS: Yes, is that good.

ive never really liked bodom, theyr music is too american if that makes sence, and not anywhere near as awesome as kalmah, why does everyone compare kalmah with bodom? kalmah is much more melodic and they dont cover brittney spears songs on their freaking records.

Man, I was so worried this album was going to be like Blooddrunk or Zero Nexus; a disappointing, anticipated album from what used to be an amazing band. But! Kalmah has broken the recent trend of shitty albums with For The Revolution; it's truly epic.
Summary of For The Revolution: Swamphell meets The Black Waltz, 100/100%.

To stay on-topic: Kalmah kicks ass! I hope Pekka stays to the dark vocals he used in The Black Waltz. Those vocals were amazing! Also, I hope Kalmah stays as melodic as they shall be, and doesn't go all-sucky mode as COB did :)

okay here we go...this song is awesome!!!!..let me start with the vocal..the vocals tone is the mixture of the black waltz..and their previous albums ..which makes it a more powerful song . well, i believe Henrik leaving skyfire is not a HUGE deal and it doesnt take away from their musical abilities. Sure, he was an awesome vocalist, but ive heard the new vocalist and hes impressive. I am greatly looking foward to their new release. Im sure it will be amazing!! they say it will sound similar to Timeless Departure but have the aggressiveness of Spectral. But yea, this song by Kalmah is so amazingly great! Its symphonic like the black waltz and the mixing of vocals is pure genius.

I don't get why Blooddrunk is getting spit on so much... Oooh now i remember every new bodom album is the worst one so far. And allways even more sell out than the last one. Well people with that bullshit aren't going away, and shit talkers have been hanging around bodom with great numbers. Have allready used to it. Are You Dead Yet was great (maeby the best from band) and so is Blooddrunk. And i have been fan since Deadnight Warrior.

no the reason why their newer albums are shitty is because its losing its neoclassical. it doesnt feel like the COB i used to know. the COB i use to know was a technical melodic band with very sophisticated music. all i hear nowadays is poor flimsy mainstream pop structured songs. the guitars are so incredibly shit in blooddrunk its not funny.
kalmah is like my favourite band nowadays. opeth and kalmah. wooo.

I agree with you 100% man. CoB used to have amazing Neo-Classical elements especially in Hatebreeder. That's what made them the BEST in that style. Kalmah though, is AMAZING and its IMPOSSIBLE for them to make a crappy album!
