  • to the 27 people who dont get the true meaning of this clip...its not your fault...its not your fault....no really, its not your fault....

  • acting 2010 exam... Aced it.. my partner had real tears <3 i love good will hunting

  • Brought me to tears...

  • People that make fun of this scene are PATHETIC. They have no clue and should realize just because people can have children does NOT make them good parents.

  • @Ronbo710 anybody can be a father, it takes a real man to be a dad.

  • don't fuck with me.

    not you.

  • MATT DAMON!!!

  • @fckuen

In your description you say that Sean says "You see this, holy sh*t"

    it's actually

  • If I can't get it out I watch this

  • best fake cry ever

  • Thumbs up of ur here because of college humor

  • Why would this be translated into Japanese? It's a movie about a guy who's good at math. Shouldn't they already know everything about math?

  • this shit makes me chill.

  • jason bourne

  • fuck them ok?

  • what's not his fault?

  • @in2universe He was abused as a child. Victims of child abuse often blame themselves for what their guardians did to them.

  • I am a premature ejaculator, it's not my fault!

  • its " you see this, ALL this shit" not holy

  • Incredible scene!

  • It was 26 people's faults.

  • fucking love this film, this scene is awesome

  • yes matt, cry like a bitch

  • @nickseider2 you don't realize this, but what you really wrote, to the discerning eye, is this: I'm scared of my feelings, and if I act tough, people won't know how scared I am.

    Nice try dude.

    You scared like everyone else.

Keep acting tough though, you'll fool some people.

  • @tristramshandy3 lmfao

  • What does this scene mean?

  • Comment removed

  • You know what the best part is? This movie is banned in China.

  • i have a best friend,

actually he's a badass and he had almost same past like will.

last week we have chillet a little and we spoke about the happening things in his past.. i called him that it was not his fault like 7 times or some and then he was for moment quiet and looked up in the dark sky.. he looked at me and said "i need to call my mum right now!" he explain her whit beady eyes the story and after this he give me a little hug..

I can't help him but i am always there!

    peace

  • he looks so freaking young!

  • its not ur fault

  • screw parents who lash out at their kids for their own fuckups

  • @mszsu werddd

  • Everytime I see this scene I can't help but tear up a bit. Even though it might seem a little funny to some people nowadays for being a bit dramatic and somewhat cliched, To see this character- who has had a rough life and many people throughout his life wounding him, being reached out to by his psychologist and being told that he's a good person underneath and the abuse he's suffered isn't his fault, I just find it so touching.

  • The worst thing was, it WAS his fault.

  • My counsellor did something like this today, we were doing EFT And I was laughing at first...then eventually started crying...

  • Didn't he [Robin Williams] say that his dad "busted his ass" to send him to college? I find this somewhat contradictory. But I guess it's not impossible. Great scene, however.

  • Ya no shit I know this was before family guy, I was messing around morons.

  • im glad it had the chinese subtitles or else i couldnt understand what was going on

  • @Kentpederson for real...I was all sad then I was all chinese...

  • @Kentpederson

    chinese isn't a language

  • @InquisitorPrime what the hell are you talking about, are you high?

  • @cccdouble Chinese isn't a language.

    Its Mandarin or Cantonese.

Saying Chinese is a language is like saying Mexican is a language

  • @InquisitorPrime Okay, now i get what you were saying. Nice.

  • @InquisitorPrime Try to explain it to an American who believes he speaks American. :)

  • @orszaghaza lol never thought about that

  • Thumb up if at this moment you finally felt Will's pain

  • I fuckin hate family guy, it makes fun of fuckin everything good in the world

  • @EanTheNintendoKid - Yes I see your point. How dare Family Guy make fun of self-indulgent melodrama. Dangnamit!

  • @EanTheNintendoKid so do those Jews of College Humor

  • Best scene

  • its 23 people's fault

  • i wished i had a psychologist like him back then...dropped out of college, went back to jail, did a long yr bid but fuck it-that was my fault :D

  • Funny how Robin Williams grows a beard for all of his serious roles!

  • Maybe I'll feel better if I cry like that...

  • lawl, family guy

  • "why the wrench?"

    "cause fuck him, thats why."

  • Comment removed

  • Abusing Children is not a Masculine thing, THIS is how a Father is the Solid Rock Shoulders for his children!

  • damit! family guy ruins everything!

  • It's kind of true what family guy says. Robin Williams only has a beard in his good movies.

  • I'm don't think he cried b/c he thought he had become a bad person. He might have thought that, but personally I always thought that him picking the wrench meant that he thought he deserved the beatings, he deserved to be abandoned, but he didn't. No one does

  • my favorite part is when damon says "i can't act"

  • superb acting.

  • its not your fault x10000

  • hahahah stewie and brian

  • I cry when matt damon cried

  • 'Cos "Fuck him!", that's why.

  • cuz fuck him, thats why

  • One of the most powerful scenes in cinema, I love this film.

  • (=0

    Holy... shit.

I don't know what the definition of acting is...

    But that was it.

    That was it.

  • In case anyone cares, the "mathematical dick" (professor) that was in the scene before this is Eric Northman's (True Blood) real-life dad...

  • haha I saw this on family guy today and laughed my ass off.

  • What isn't his fault?

  • @Johnnyblazedanketch the abuse..if you look closely theres a picture of bad bruises on his torso in the file

  • Depar-two, his fault.

  • robin and matt are absolutely phenomenal here

  • Holy Shit I Just Shed A Tear

  • 23 people... It's your fault.

    Also Family Guy.

  • To all those weighed down by guilt, Christ says "It's not your fault".

  • : I CANT ACT IM SO SORRY

  • 03:29 I can't act... I'm so sorry

  • @tehmadcap

Oh yeah, it does sound like he's saying that. I can't believe it. I have this movie at home and I never noticed that.

  • If you have to be explained why he cried after seeing the whole film then your either retarded or not mature enough to understand this subject matter.

  • See, Keanu Reeves? THIS is acting. But hey, it's not your fault you can't act :)

  • @tontsa911 I think he does pretty well for himself considered he is a high school drop-out.

  • I speak Chinese and the translation is all wrong. It says, it's Bush's fault, it's Bush's fault... over and over again.

  • Snitsky loves this line

  • @DennisBayazitov apples anyone???

  • @scrodymcboogerballs7 Kevin's cousin has an orchard somewhere...

  • Stupid spammers make forum kiddies cry :(

  • Fuck Connect Four, okay?

  • This movie made me realize that I have/had the same problems Will had... and that my cynical and pessimistic characteristics aren't personal traits of mine, but learned behaviour.

  • Comment removed

  • Kids are vulnerable; they trust adults and as they are the ones told off and disciplined; they are way more likely to see themselves as at fault and its harder for them to identify when an adult has wronged. On paper, Will knew that it wasn't his fault but deep down still FELT like he'd done something wrong and any authority figure was against him; but once he could trust sean, he listens to him, and once he listens he can truly believe that it wasn't his fault and he as a breakthrough.

  • my favriot part is wen he cries like a LIL BITCH hahaha

  • Note how Will is hesitant, defensive and guarded but less than he used to be as he has developed some trust in Robin Williams' character. This disappears when he breaks down.

  • Ha, they stole this scene from family guy

  • @antjz0 family guy stole from this..

  • @BurningBongo they didnt steal its called a reference theyre making fun of it

  • @MrAbkio regardless, the scene was taken from this movie. i do watch family guy. i know what a fucking reference is and what they aim to do.

  • @antjz0 ***Idiot alert***

  • @antjz0 you're retarded....this movie was made 2 years before family guy ever existed

  • "mmmyyaattttt dayyyyyyymmmonnn."

    -team america.

  • How is it that this is the only scene I ever watch when it comes on tv?

  • why did they stop making good movies like this one ?

  • @halfhourof8MuSt Damon and Affleck nursed this movie through YEARS and YEARS of Hollywood. Most people just ram through a remake or some "reboot" or some trite regurgitation of a decent novel, because it sells movie tickets.

  • My favourite part is when Robin Williams says, its not your fault.

  • @alanmullery lol

  • @alanmullery which part was that.

  • Ok I get that he's breaking down the attachment disorder by offering comfort (as was offered to will before, and so he feels uncomfortable accepting it - 'pushing people away before they can push him away' etc) and simply dismissing the idea that it was his own fault that he has turned out the way he has.

But I feel like I'm missing what the scene really means... someone help me!

  • @LiamDaLemon His whole life he has failed with regard to building lasting relationships and taking personal risks, this due to an intense lack of trust, and a fear of how those things will culminate in an inevitable letdown. So he sabotages every relationship and every personal risk he's ever considered taking, because that way he can control his own destiny and not have someone else control it for him. His shrink is modeling trust and care for Will, allowing him to finally see it in others.

  • @LiamDaLemon Ben Affleck's character also reinforces this for Will during the construction scene. He cares enough about Will to tell him very honestly that he cares more about Will finding his true calling than sticking around and picking up manual labor jobs just to be with his buddies. In the end, Will is able to finally see how much Skyler really cared about him, and takes a personal risk to try and win her back. This, ultimately, is the beginning of his recovery from his past abuse.

  • @LiamDaLemon Matt damon has had what we call in the world of Psychotherapy,a 'Breakthrough'.This is when one's negative beliefs are dismissed as fiction rather than fact.In Matt Damons case he 'broke through' from believing that his troubled childhood was his fault, when in fact it was not.Hope this helps

  • @LiamDaLemon - Its about mainly about Wills attachment disorder disappearing, but also about two guys developing a friendship and finally opening up to one another. Notice that Robin Williams character is also crying. Now if it wasn't for his friendship with Will, he would've never have conquered his own demons and negatives.

  • I think it was his fault.

  • I like the part when Robin Williams says, it's not your fault.

  • Call me a pussy, but this scene always makes me cry.

  • Thank god for chinese subtitles without them I'd be lost! Whew!

  • I sure fell in love with Matt Damon during this film, not only did he give a damn good performance, also .. I have a thing for geeks :3

  • I DIDNT CATCH THAT WHAT WAS HE SAYING

  • according to the "transcribe audio" subtitles, from 3:17 to 3:50 will's saying, "the student date one impartial more profit cast-offs about that but it before so i thought that laptop sidneigrf can param" ... so glad will was able to get in touch with his emotions and let it all out ;)

  • he does this so well, i can really relate to this scene because i went through nearly the exact same thing 10 years ago, not with counselling but with the domestic violence that he experienced as a child, not many people know how badly it fucks you up, even for me 5 years ago when it stopped i still think about it everyday of my life, so for those of you who know someone going through this, do what u can to help them like my friends did their best to help me

  • what does make of the screenplay of Good will hunting great??

    THIS SCENE.

  • Great movie, great scene.

  • It's "It's not your fault", not "Is not your fault". Thanks for the Chinese subs though.

  • @KissMyClawsTV its not your fault you're retarded.

  • @amputate, chedderz is right, he chose the wrench because it would hurt more than the belt or stick, he wanted to show his foster dad that no matter how much he could physically hurt him, he would always be stronger than his foster father

  • So many people in life need to hear those same words

  • @Frozone470 23 people to be precise, if one were to follow that formula for creating "insightful" comments. But yes, those people have hearts of granite.

  • @TFI2010gmail more like hundreds of thousands of at least americans, such as the ones who had abusive dads, never were told "I love you", etc etc

  • 23 people are not at fault...................sorry I hate to be that guy but i am what i am and you know what? that ain't my fault

  • ok I'm probably missing something simple here, but when he says "because fuck him, that's why" after he says he picks the wrench, is he implying that he took the wrench and hit his dad with it? I don't fully understand..

  • @Amputate i havent seen the show either but i think hes saying he picked the object that hurt the most just to show his dad whats up

  • I can't take this scene seriously after watching family guy haha

  • turn on the subtitles. hahaha

  • I can never watch this scene without crying. There's beauty in the breakdown.

  • uhh i'm kinda lost on why he robin williams character kept saying "it's not your fault" ...sorry i'm bad at reading between the lines/looking at it in a deeper way

  • @flipxalex because Matt Damon's character has gone through life fearing abandonment and all the negative feelings his father had caused him, and Robin Williams attempts rid him of these fears by reinforcing the idea that it was not Matt Damon's actions which hurt him but rather other peoples. I hope that helps.
