  • Hi Parkhoon. How is the performance of the Samsung Series 7 Slate ? And about the battery life ? Where did you buy it ?

  • @crgcop It clocks at 2GHz on full load, and I like the performance of it. Because it's such a thin device, it does get hot if I do more cpu intensive stuff, but it's great for normal use such as onenote and pdf annotating. I get about 3 hours 30 minutes doing presentation with hdmi to vga adapter plugged in and inking at the same time. Surfing internet and note taking gets me about 4:30-5:00. The battery is only 40Wh, and the system uses about 7-8W on idle, so you can estimate 5-6 hours.

  • @crgcop I bought mine from MS Store.

  • is it fixed or still having problem ?

  • @crgcop Last time I checked, dec 12. 2011, it didn't do a damn thing. I don't know if they released another firmware update or not. You might want to check with people on the forums such as forum.tabletpcreview or the official lenovo forum. It shows mixed results. I'm satisfied with my Samsung Series 7 Slate.

  • thanks parkhoon. I've just installed the last firmware. And it is working much better. Not 100%. The Samsung series 7 is very good. But we can swap the battery when necessary. It is too bad for me. I was thinking in buy a ThinkPad Tablet Android. For me pen is necessary. I think this tablet does not have the same bug. I think. The idea of the thinkpad tablet is so good. Camera, light, pen, fast. But I would like to avoid to carry two hardware (one with windows 7 and the other with Android).

  • seems this problem is fixable (not perfectly though) by installing the latest driver from wacom (for tablet pc).it gives you pressure sensitive support as well

  • You got the x220t with the multi touch display.

You should've gotten the outdoor display that registers only the pen input, and not the finger input. Not only that, the viewing angle as well as the brightness on that outdoor screen is much better than the multi touch display.

Perhaps you should've done more research before making the jump.

  • @ConceptVBS Of course I did the research, I would say way more than anyone else around. The reason for going multitouch instead of the outdoor screen was because the price difference, Win8 expectation, and also I don't need an outdoor screen. I can always disable touch layer in the control panel if it bothers me. The accuracy problem of the digitizer is also present on the outdoor screens. Even after Lenovo's recent digitizer firmware update, I still see the same problem.

  • How can you disable the touch input to use the pen mode only? I think it is better to use onenote with pen input only. Is that right? Because accidental touch on the screen of our palm will not be recognized?

  • @u4808794 Yes, that's how I used it when I had the X220T. To disable the touch input, go to control panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Pen and Touch -> in Touch tab, uncheck the first box saying 'Use your finer as an input device'. But I'm sure you probably have found out by now on your own.

  • Thanks for the reply. I bought a macbook pro 13" with sandy bridge i5, for $999 at a local store. I hooked it up to the tv and i love it. I'll hold out for round 2, till something better comes out.

  • @matteo4m Nice! I also had a MBP13, it was late February. With student discount, the price was really good too. I liked the overall experience of OSX, and loved the build quality of it. It is an excellent laptop for sure, but I was really busy with school back then, and felt the leap from Windows 7 is too big for me. There were also rumors that the next MBP will be a complete redesign, but who knows. I ended up returning mine early March. MBP13 is a great laptop!

  • wow, thats really messed up. Im considering this tablet but now I dont know if I want it. What do you think?

  • @matteo4m I wouldn't recommend buying X220T. I heard a lot of the tablets have this problem with writing on the edge, so I don't know what other brand to recommend. My 4 year old X61T is also not digitizer perfect, but close enough to not notice any digitizer problems during real use. I'm planning on continuing use of the X61T and buy an additional ultra portable laptop for Sandy Bridge performance (looking at Sony Z2).

  • @parkhoon It's a software issue, The issue has been resolved in linux.

  • @Tehtog If you made yours work well, can you please make a video of it working properly on the edges? Better, make an instruction how you did it. I won't believe your claim unless I see it. Another thing is that Linux has no software that can replace MS Onenote. Those monkeys at lenovo seems like they still can't figure out what's wrong with the tablet.

    forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/Does-anyone-have-x220t-pen-working-properly-on-edges/td-p/454883

  • @parkhoon Way to jump to conclusions. I didn't say i owned one. What i'm saying is that there is a formula to the offset of the screen. Soon enough software will correct for that, just wait.

  • @Tehtog Can you share the how-to formula then? Anyways, I initially said it's a hardware problem because that is the root of the cause. But I agree, this can be compensated by a software fix to make it near perfect. Maybe it works now on Linux, but what about Windows users? Lenovo should be fixing this issue, but there's no news or anything on what's going on. Last time I checked, they finally acknowledged it as an issue on 8/5/2011. No more Lenovo for me.

  • @parkhoon Believe it or not, only a small number of devices have this issue. Lenovo Engineers know what the problem is by now. The linux fix is very processor intensive. They need to make that alot more efficient first.
