wow, just saw No Age open for Cold War Kids in NYC... never been this motivated to whine about how shitty an opening band was. I've never seen an opener get quarters, pennies, tickets, plastic cups thrown at them and actually get booed off stage when their set was done. AND I agreed with every aspect of it. Whatever the hell they were trying to do was NOT music, their "performance" is noise, not music. And apparently the only reason why they got this gig is for their Obama T-Shirt stunt. Ish...

That's a noble statement I guess, but you don't want to be taken advantage of either. Right now, at least where I live social institutions such a health care and welfare are being heavily taken advantage of. I have friends who willingly go on welfare because they will make more money as to working a full time job at minimum wage. I'm paying for that shit and they are making more money then me. Like I said before, I still believe in social institutions, but to a degree. There has to be balance.
i live in canada and we have free healthcare and trust me there is a positive and negative to everything. One negative off the top of my head is that I am taxed way the fuck more then you are (Americans). In fact, I have payed WAY more money in taxes then i would have payed in healthcare up to this point in my life. And that's the majority. I'm still for free healthcare, but it isn't perfect.
i think it's about how you look on society, society as a sort of community. it's the thing with living together as a people, and not individuals. i live in Denmark and in our welfare system we pay taxes with 42% of the money that we get payed. not to sound corny, but i am happy and proud to take part in the society in that way. i'd much rather pay a lot of taxes and ensure health care, free public institutions and so on, than earning a few more coins to my own little pocket.

That's a noble statement I guess, but you don't want to be taken advantage of either. Right now, at least where I live social institutions such a health care and welfare are being heavily taken advantage of. I have friends who willingly go on welfare because they will make more money as to working a full time job at minimum wage. I'm paying for that shit and they are making more money then me. Like I said before, I still believe in social institutions, but to a degree. There has to be balance.

i live in canada and we have free healthcare and trust me there is a positive and negative to everything. One negative off the top of my head is that I am taxed way the fuck more then you are (Americans). In fact, I have payed WAY more money in taxes then i would have payed in healthcare up to this point in my life. And that's the majority. I'm still for free healthcare, but it isn't perfect.

i think it's about how you look on society, society as a sort of community. it's the thing with living together as a people, and not individuals. i live in Denmark and in our welfare system we pay taxes with 42% of the money that we get payed. not to sound corny, but i am happy and proud to take part in the society in that way. i'd much rather pay a lot of taxes and ensure health care, free public institutions and so on, than earning a few more coins to my own little pocket.
