I Seriously am addicted to THIN LIZZY !!! I am 37 and have yet to see any band even come close to the unbelievable LIVE performaces this band gave. And believe me I have seen a lot of concerts and shows!! Long Live PHIL LYNOTT and THIN LIZZY ForeEver !!!
Fuck me in the beard! Badass band, awesome song; loved to have been there! Gary could play like a beast but he sucks without the context of Phil's songwriting. Long live the Rocker! Name a better frontman without going back or forward a decade.
What the FUCK are you on about jcane28?! You obviously know jack all about Van Halen, Ted did not write the songs for them. He did encourage Eddie to tap more than he would've but thats it. How about you listen to the albums before "1984" and listen to their earlier stuff and you might actually respect EVH.
@FREELOADER55 So true! This man buries all those other players, Malmsteen, Van Halen, Petrucci etc., they all seem to find speed through hammering & pulling off consecutive notes to sound really fast. To flat pick every note at that speed and play that clean is unparrelled. A lot of guitar players, play fast to impress but it all ends up sounding like a fuzzale of notes. This mans' ability to be so melodic with his speed is very unique. His slow soulful playing is just as impressive!
@FREELOADER55 Those "rock" magazine polls piss me off so bad. Clueless! Before I even read them I know they're gonna piss me off and yet I still do, maybe to see just how utterly stupid they are. Clearly they know nothing of reality. So many underrated and overlooked musical geniuses such as Gary and Phil never get the recognition they deserve in print. But the fans know, and that's what really matters.
Ed couldn't write anything half as brilliant as Black Rose, even if his life depended on it. Van Halen had their songs written for them by Ted Templeman and scores of others. No real artist buys songs (Jump weee). Ed's just a guitar player playing in a cover band....I love Van Halen, but it's the truth. They had the look, the energy, and chops at a time when that meant something (and bands could actually play, what a concept). The rest, meaning having songs to sing/play. That was arranged.
phil lynott is so underrated and underestimated, those vocals at the beginnin were just crazy, to get it that precise in a live performance as well while playing a bass line is just serious!!
NRBQ did it better, but Phil singing 'Pay to Cum' in the verses is brilliant.
Um.
Right. I just realized that nobody is going to get both those jokes.
[Exiting that way.]

When Gary Moore was a cool dude?
SebZoso 2 years ago
There was some top ten Guitarist poll done by of all Time Magazine, Hendrix was 1 Slash 2 Malmsteen and Van Halcoholic was on it too.
Gary Moore could eat slash for breakfast, eat malmsteen for lunch, and have Vanalcoholic for dinner then crap them all out before bed time.
Slash couldn't play that fast if Adler gave him some coke, Time didn't look very far did they?
The man is unparrelled at the guitar.
FREELOADER55 2 years ago 19
your so right! hes the perfect guitarist; he can play fast, slow, emotional and can make anything sound good. and he doesnt tap either!!!

Pity about that tiny little detail...

Gary Moore is my favorite. But I have to say that there was one other guy playing like this and better in 78 - Eddie Van Halen.

Gary Moore & Eddie Van Halen. Two of the guitar gods. Damn, why does time have to go forwards? I could have stayed in the 70's all my life :)
