  • is it wrong that I dont have a kid and im 19 and im gonna make these for myself.... even though I have no where to take them to eat XD

  • all your bentos are precious, i want to do the same for my younger sisters (since thank God kids are still a little farther down that road) and i wanted to show them i cared when they got to school too :) thanks for sharing, i just wish you coulda said what was in them maybe.

  • What are the pink flowers made out of?

  • wow, it's amazing how many people are so critical of you for too much this or that. I was looking at your bentos and just thinking how intricate they were and how lucky your kids were to have someone caring of them like you are. jeez, get a life.

  • i wish my mom made me stuff like this :)

  • The song made me cry and the pictures made me hungry.

     Anyways, cute bentos =^.^=

  • I get hungry

  • @thesodathief this was written by John Lennon and please respect everyone's own belief. The reason he's saying no religion too is because religion does cause differences among people. It's a very peaceful song.

  • OMG! My name is Caitlyn and I love making bento boxes! I just find it funny because my sister Crystol is the one who got me started making bentos!

  • this song was written by the atheist bitch steven hawkings

  • woah my names krystal my baby cuz name is kaitlyn weird

  • lots of hot dogs :-S

  • Lovely! I love the butterfies and especially the hello kitty shaped eggs! I've been tempted to buy that mold online now I'm going to have to get it especially since it makes such cute shaped eggs!

  • :o ....I want you as my mum.

  • mmm, octopi a la' hotted dog

  • how do you own so many bento boxes?!

  • @animefreak1467 I think this was over period of time not all at once haha

  • too many hotdogs which are very bad for you. yuck.

  • that's a lot of food :P she wouldn't mind if she shared some lol

  • Are hot dogs a big deal in japan because I notice alot of bentos contain hot dog?

  • I want a hello kitty egg!

  • i can only imagine how many hot dogs you go through to make those little octopuses

  • too many weenie

  • love

  • wow this is super cute!!!

  • what's the title of the song ?

  • I'd love to make a bento box lunch, but I don't know how to keep the food from going bad. Are the containers thermally insulated?

  • @broccolivirgin ...you're not supposed to make it at 4am in the morning and eat it at 11pm in the evening. eat within 6h. don't use things that go bad easily (anything uncooked fish/meat, mayonnaise/yogurt, etc) and make sure your stuff is cooked thoroughly. there's a way to make sure your food stays cool in hot surroundings though - ice packs. for the full effect, put your bento after preparing in the fridge for half an hour, put in thermally insulated bag and put an ice pack on and below it.

  • wow your home made bento are awesome! I have store bought japanese ones on my page if you or anyone is interested in checking them out on my channel :)

  • cute.. but your kid must eat a lot of wieners... lol

  • @Nevizations that was baby octpus

  • what are the cute pink and yellow stars made from?

  • @Happygoluckyichigo Ham and cheese :)

  • ... beautiful bentos, btw :-)

  • i want to make one for a friends becuz i never ever gaven her a present out of all my friends and she is a very nice friend i just dont know which one theres so many

  • I love bento lunches ^_^ ! They are easy to make too. Its like, boil an egg & then put a face on it! But bento is about filling snack & vegetables!

  • @EmoAliKat I agree with you, bentos are the best

  • oh my! you put in so much effort into making these lunches, which they are soo gorgeous ! Your daughter must love eating them. My mum stopped packing my lunches in yr 5. ahaha i guess im old enough now

  • @specialdiot We could all use a pleasant surprise every now and then :) Just makes the day better

  • I love this!!!!!!

  • I'm seeing a lot of what looks like hotdog's cut into octopuses. (No, the plural is not "octopi".) Is that what they are?

These are so cute! But I'm not much into hotdogs anymore...Still, they look nutritious, fun, and cute. :)

  • on the third picture.. i have that bento!

  • these bento are awesome! if you guys wanna see some bento boxes in a video, come see mine! :)

  • @bentogeek I love your stuff bentogeek

  • where did u get the pink hello kitty bento box?

  • delicious looking lunches there, im sure everyone around her wished their mommy made such cool lunches for them!

  • i miss old bento boxes

  • Nice looking food and it's good you spend the time to actually make your kids lunch (many parents now days don't even pack a basic lunch anymore). However it looks like the lunches have too much meat. Too much meat (especially sausages and hot dogs) aren't good. I also know kids are picky eaters but they can learn to love healthy foods usually lol. Good video.

  • @yesiamanalien Thanks :)

  • i think thats the best kunch box put in the world

  • You are a fantastic mother. If I had a child, I would give her everything I never got and let her expirience in life.

  • great mother ^^

  • If I have a child I would make it for her

  • Oh i wish someone would prepare me a bento someday ^^'' but in france it's not really actual /sniff/

  • That's really cute!

  • Great bentos but it's an awfully potent song to use for bentos!

  • @lexigore Your right, it is. When I hear this song I think of famine (lots of people starving because they have no food). In these pictures, it is just the opposite... I in turn felt that with this song and these images.... it will remind us of how lucky we are to have food to eat in our every day lives. I guess that is how I connected the song and video together

  • @lukygirl314 Why do you people diss the Beatles so much!

  • @lexigore Don't diss the beatles

  • @Brierose1997 Uhh. How is saying that it's a potent song "dissing" The Beatles? First of all it's not The Beatles it's John Lennon.

Perhaps you should look up the word "potent."

  • cute cute cute ^-^ i wish i could make some of those no one ever taught me anythin about cooking!!!

  • @alexandraXnyuu I don't know how to cook either, it's all about presentation and colors

  • Comment removed

  • Alot of these are cute!

    Though some are really not on the healthy side. ^^;;

  • what is the name of that song? and who sings it?

  • I think it's called IMAGINE by John Lennon. Really nice song

  • thanks!!!! : ]

  • @ itza15, lukygirl314

    you girls gotta be kidding.

  • everyday sausages????

  • you are such an amazing mom! I get jealous when all my friends (all of them asian or not) bring their bentos (theyre 14 years old too!!!) but they like to make them themselves and show them off at school.. butmy momthinks its innapropriate for meto make bentos D:

soone of my friends is going to show me how to make my own bentos ^_^ and one day i can hopefully go out and buy my own box (YN)

  • You can do it :) It's really easy, it's all about the presentation. I acutally can't really cook so well but it's all about mixing colors through fruits and veggies. Why don't you start by using a cookie cutter in any shape (ie: heart or star) and cutting out 2 of the same shapes from the bread then smear peanut butter and jam on it. Put it together and your half way to a bento box :) Add fruit and veggies on the side and your done :) Feel free to use my video's as referance.

  • Thank you! that just made it sound so very easy!!

    And I will :D

    thank you once again!

  • why does your mom think its inappropriate to make a bento?

  • She says it wastes too much time and food. And how it's only for Japanese people - which is totally untrue.

  • she probably thinks its too much of a hassle and doesnt wanna do all that work let alone the clean up to make it. So she makes up all these excuses not to do it LOL.

  • well, if you're doing really simple things, like putting together some american stuff (trangle sammishes, strawberries cut into bite sized pieces, etc) and do a bit extra, then you can really make it look cool, without having to worry on whether or not you like what you're making^^ and most american things don't make a whole lot of mess x3 but pay no attention to me, i preferr the japanese food anyway x3

  • I am also very curious...

  • Ah, I always feel really envious of my Japanese friends when I look at their bento. xD Somehow, Japanese people seem to be able to make the simplest things look so cute! Also, they always make it look healthy at the same time. (and full of love~)

You're an awesome mom! Your children should be proud.

  • Ah! I'm sorry! You're actually Chinese. xD I assumed you were Japanese by the word 'bento'. My mom's Hokkien too, but I don't know a lick of any dialect. (wait, I hope you're Hokkien, or that would be another mistake)

    Much apologies xD

  • lol... I'm half Cantonese and half Shanghainese and full ABC :) Thanks for watching and takinf the time to comment

  • sooo cute!!

    i wanna be a cute mommy like u 1day :P

  • I have that hello kitty fork and spoon lol

  • is there anyway u could do more tutorials on how u do the lunch boxes =( i would love 2learn =) ur so creative! Thanks

  • Wow, that is so amazing. Did you make one everyday? If so, that is really amazing!

  • It looks wayyy yummy

  • want a mum like you too...*sadness*

  • where do you buy the cutters for the flowers hearts shapes?

  • jeez. you can be on the food channel one day, i sware.

  • doesn't all your effort go to waste when the food jumbles around during transport?

  • not really, it's a bento box, so the food stays that way no matter how you shake it :)

  • im american and i tok a bento 2 lunch and every 1 thought it was weirod bbut the lunch was asome

  • amazing!

  • This is soo very sweet. What a great mommy. As soon as the music came on and I saw the first bento box I had to smile. Beautiful boxes by the way.

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to write this sweet comment. I really appreciate it :)

  • i love japanese bento boxes xD

especially the food inside it! its so neat and organizeed!! ^________^

  • Such and awesome bento! ^__^

  • oh my goodness those are the cutest bento boxes I've ever seen.

  • One of these days I will... hopefully sooner then later :)

  • :0

Will you make a tutorial of how to make that hello kitty shape? xD

i got 2 nice bento boxes for x-mas, and i'd like to take one to school :3

  • Hehehe, looks cool

  • I wish I would have known about bento in middle school and high school. damn it....oh well. I will treat my future kids to this great and adorable idea someday.

  • hi i was wondering where do you get you cutter shapes and your molds?

  • they are just normal cookie cutters. I've gotten a lot of requests to do a tutorial on how I cut shapes of the food. Once our family is over our cold, I will make another video on how to shape sandwiches, etc :) Please do check back or subscribe for more of Krystal's Bento Box

  • I wish my mom knew how to make bento lunches when I was little, it would've made my day all the better :') i love the way you make them ^^ (and john lennon XD especially this song <3)

  • yeah... it's help a lot for a child to appetite if it's looks cute

  • maybe when you get more comfortable with your computer you can edit and make a how to video on how you arrange some of these... they're so cute...

  • Sure thing... I'm certainly better at understanding the editing portion at this point. Do you have any special requests? I will make sure to include it in my next tutorial. Right now I am sick with the flu, once I get better the next tutorial is just for you :)

  • i hope you get better =(

maybe you could show how you make some of the things like the heart with the star inside for the onigiri at 0:25 or tell what you use for the flowers / spiral things at 1:30 ^_^ i've just started bento arranging and the basic and im looking to enhance my skills... nothing fancy and i want to get into more presentable arrangements.. .if that makes sense xD

you're love really shows though this art and it would be wonderful if you could share some tips you learned ^_^

  • I wish I was Krystal, you guys must be really close in relationship, I can't believe you put that together for her lunch mostly I just get sandwiches or fried rice for my lunch. Lol.

  • Thanks, it only takes about 5 mins in the morning to do it. Anyone can... even I and I do not know how to cook :)

  • These are amazing! I am definitely going to try to make some of my own bento boxes!

I think you should put up a tutorial on how you got everything into shapes and what you use in them. But anyways, amazing bento boxes!

  • Thanks, I will make sure to do that when I get a chance :) It's super easy. I do not know how to cook and even I can do that. It's all about presentation :)

  • I wish I was that girl.

    I'm only eleven.

    Heck, I'm a boy too.

    These are so awesome.

  • Thank You for your comment :) Your so sweet. You actually, really did make me laugh out loud :)

  • Kawaii!!

Such a nice loving mother! What a lucky little girl :)

  • Aww, shucks... thank you ... xoxo

  • aww, hello kitty! I love hello kitty! ^__^

these are awesome lunches. your child is one lucky girl with a nutritious lunch!

the closest thing my mom to "creative" was cutting my PB&J's into stars or hearts.

and thats basically all she did! aha.

  • I bet that made you feel really good to see your mom put a touch of love in your meal. It was just a reminder from her to let you know how much she loves you and more. Those are the memories that lasts a life time.

  • You are so right! Keep making videos about Krystal! And while Krystal is a big kid and she's off to school you could make a lot of vids about Kaitlyn!!

  • the other kids must be so jealous! You def have to do a tutorial on what you put in there and how you shape the stuff. She must feel so special!

  • Thanks :) Personally, I do not know how to cook and I do not like cooking. But this was really fun and super easy to do. Seriously... if I can do it, ANYONE can do this. How's your sweetie pie? I miss watching video's of your family. Please do post something. I always look forward to your vidoes

  • argh! my computer bought the farm, and you KNOW I have a ton of pics and videos that I'm just itchin' to make and post! It's killing me! Whatever you say, you've still inspired me. When Xiaoyan goes to daycare/school I'm going to be copying from you and taking all the credit! :)

  • Hello! You're an amazing mommy and I've watched all of your video, showing infinite love for your girl. My son and little girl is the same age as yours and I'm trying to be a good mom and see you as my role model. Cheers.

  • Wow.. Thanks for the ultimate compliment :) Your son Louis is so ADORABLE. He will be a very handsome and smart man when he grows up (I can tell).

  • I think this is so adorable what you do for your daughter. She is lucky she has a mom that shows her how much you care! The food you make looks very yummy too! I'm allergic to dairy just like her! She is so adorable!

  • you're amazing. :)

  • how did you get the egg to look like hello kitty?

i've not seen an egg shaper before.

    where can I get one?

  • I brought the Hello Kitty egg shaper from ebay. You can also buy car, star, fish, etc. shapes for eggs to mold too. They are super cheap at places like Daiso (which is basically a japanese dollar store). If I get a chance I will make a tutorial on how to make the egg into a Hello Kitty shape :) Thanks for watching and thanks for taking the time to comment :)

  • Thanks. I'll look out for it.

  • your kid is so lucky, I wish my mom made those cute bentos when I was little :[

  • My mom used to make these for me in preschool

(im japanese)and now i make them myself i find it fun to make them but i have a hard time eating it! its to cute!

    ^_^

  • A touch of love in each childs meal makes a lasting impression :)

  • Well Im just saying my mother used to do the same thing to me when I was in elementary...She packed my lunchbox with fruits, vegetables, granola, etc...

Maybe its different for boys, because come to think of it, I dont remember my sister ever complaining about her lunches(LOL)... Anyways, even though I have never met you, I think your a wonderful mother, every child should be so lucky.

  • Honey, these foods are not exotic. Because of the many food allergies Krystal has (ie: dairy, tree nuts, shell fish, etc) she eats these foods on a regular basis. Since when did rice become exotic..lol :) Anyhow, her school does not allow children to trade food for obvious reasons. Presentation is a great way to have children eat healthy meals in a fun way and makes cooking fun :) These are differant times my friend, once you have children you will relate.

  • btw: There is a pbj sandwich in the video it's in 0:16 and 2:16 secs :) I used a wheat organic tortilla bread and spread soy nut butter and organic strawberry jam jelly on top, then rolled it up and cut it... so you see a pbj swirl :) These are all regular foods mixed in with a little imagination.

  • Are you kidding me? I'm Canadian, and I would have loved something like this, I still would. Instead of the same old lunch which you get sick of fast, you get a nice bunch of random food each day in a cute little setup. Makes lunch seem fun. I mean how good does bread in a bag look.

  • Thank you very much Sammeh89 .... xoxo

  • U JUST MADE ME HUNGRY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT :( oops srry bout the caps

  • Oh my gosh, that's so cute.

  • Mmmmm! It all looks so delicious!

  • i love bento boxes!! they're so cute!!!! <3

  • you're to sweet.

    krystal is sooo lucky. :]

  • Cute bento box lunches! I recently got into making bento lunches too. ^^ I love making them look so pretty and cute! I loved how you did the octopus hot dogs! Mine always come out weird looking XD

  • Wow, those are incredibly creative! You should publish a recipe book with these pictures!!

  • aww, shucks... thanks :)

  • Oh And 2:40 i love the hello kitty that is way cute you must prepare these the night before or something.

  • Yes, Thank you, I prepare a whole weeks worth of bento boxes on Sunday (for Monday through Friday) so I do not waste food. I store the first 2 days (Mon and Tues) in the refrigerator and the rest of the days (Wens, Thurs, Friday) goes into the freezer and I take out the night before school day.

  • i LOVE THE HOT DOG OCTOPUS THEY ARE SO CUTE. Ops sorry cap on lol Her friends must be so jealous.

  • WOW. I'm so jealous right now. I wanna make some for my little one too. Please make a how to video.

  • Thank you... okay, I will try. I'm a bit camera shy but once I figure out a little more of the video feature on my iMac, I will make sure to do some tutorials and dedicate them to you :)

  • that is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what are you a supermom with the super powers of a gourmet chef?

  • I wish :) I actually do not know how to cook. But these are super easy to make that you do not even need to know how to cook. It's all about presentation and putting them together. Thank you... xoxo

  • Wow, those bento are incredible! We make bento for Nina sometimes to take to daycare, but they are not nearly so fancy. Your bento are like works of art.

  • Thank you... we really enjoy watching your video's as well. Much appreciate you subscribing to our videos and taking the time to comment as well.

  • you are so awesome and creative! you are exactly the mom i want to be =p can you make me lunch too? i loved the little caterpillar. so cute! i love hello kitty!

  • Thank you :) Caterpillars are easy to do. What you see looks like a caterpillar is actually a butterfly made of 2 minature taco's with flower shaped ham. The body of the caterpillar is made of chinese sausage called "lap churng" and the head is a meat ball with antena's , eye's and mouth made of carrots. The pictures are pretty bad as the coloring is off. I'm sorry it's a bit hard to see. Still trying to figure out the editing on this new iMac :) Promise you I will do better next time.

  • OHHHH! I see the butterfly now! cool! I love lap churng but i like lap yok better but probably can't make anything cute with that haha. How did you make the hello kitty seaweed? so cute. sorry all these questions..i'm sure you're bombarded with a bunch! congrats on your new iMac =)

  • You are a true artist. To make a beautiful lunch that even I would be too amazed to eat. You have a gift! Btw Hello Kitty Rocks! *lol* I use to love Hello Kitty when I was a little girl. ^_^

Good news I am going to be have a 3rd cousin soon. I am so happy! She is due in either late September or early October. I am making so many baby hats, socks, mitts... Sorry I just had to tell somebody. Yay! ^_^\\//

  • Wow... Congradulations!! I'm very happy for you too. Children are Gods gift to the world, you must treasure them and in return they will treasure you.

  • You are so right!

    Thank you! ^_^

  • krystal's a lucky little girl to have such beautiful bento lunches prepared for her every day. your love for her is very apparent in the presentation of her food. =)

  • Thank you :)
