  • eyes got a little messed but its good

  • Studio Artist 4.0 can do this automatically. Check it out.

  • ouch, the guy who made that video feel the handpain!!!!!

  • fucking shit!

  • quick question, how did you extract all the frames out of the video to rotoscope them?

  • @powderdtoast69

use photoshop to extract all the video frames ...

file -import- video frames to layer.

  • @tenjohn231 thanks allot man!

  • Tutorial please?

  • Man this is brilliant... What frame rate have you done this with?

I'm currently doing some rotoscoping using photoshop, after affects and final cut pro lol its taking me a looooong time at 15 fps. How did you do this one? check it out (hopefully itll be sorted...) on my website.

  • This is amazing! You can tell its a frame by frame animation, cas if it wasn't then it would have almost the exact same detail in every shot. (if you know what i mean)

  • That is impressive. Well done.

  • could of been alot easier if your camera was on a tri pod lol

  • hey man this is amazing, im starting to try out rotoscoping aswell, which effect did you use on each frame? like the background?? is that the poster style effect from photoshop?

  • There is no program. This is frame by frame animation. There is no magic button currently that can give you the look of old fashioned rotoscoping. Roll up your sleeves dude, and get to work.

  • @robbieconaway truth.

  • @robbieconaway Actually on some video editor programs they have an effect called rotoscope, but it isn't quite like this.

  • please give me the name of the program

  • what's the song :) I recognise it

  • you did, 25 times 49 = 1.225, you painted that much frames, wow nice job XD

  • nice work man one of the best ones on here

  • How did you do this? I've been using adobe flash for awhile now but the video quality comes out bad.

  • Dude. Well done. I'm usually the guy that leaves a really harsh comment, but this was pretty much amazing. In terms of emulating a walking life feel, you've got the art down pretty awesomely, but what's more mind blowing is the acting. It was written and acted in a way that was powerfully reminiscent of Linklater's work. Again, well done.

  • Hey can anybody tell me what song is this?

  • @TheStickStickly its in soundtrack pro as part of a default sound collection

  • Thank You!

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG u r awesome

  • lol You should really give some credit to Jon Foreman since you are using his switchfoot song.

  • great job, i love it

  • yeah, thanks for the reply... I think my thesis film would be 15-20 minutes long, and maybe I'm being ambitious about doing it rotoscoped... haha.. Will probably think of another way... but still where could i learn more about rotoscope animation?

  • hi, i'm planning to do my thesis film rotoscoped, can you lead me where I could learn the stuff and be successful with my project (sites, tutorials, tips, animators) thanks!

  • Unless your thesis film is only a few minutes long, your talking about a ridiculous amount of work. This animation took over 60 hours to do. There is no "filter" or treatment that will give you the rotoscope look. You HAVE to draw 12-20 pictures per second to make it look like this. It is extremely time consuming and tedious.

  • in A Scanner Darkly and Waking Life Richard hired TONS of people and it STILL took an insane amount of time.

  • it's a good job... but you just traced the lines right? because i've worked on "rotoscoping" for a while... and my colors are alot more crisp. looks like your just put a filter over the original... then threw lines over that. not knocking. just commenting. still looks cool.

  • to make it easier... i woulda just taken a picture of the background... traced that once... then just traced the dude... and overlayed... but im a lazy ass.

  • thats the kickass way to do it man, plus it keeps the background still

  • that sounds like a great way to do it, but I kind of like the "shifting" background effect. It seems to add a sense of style to the piece. Very well done, looks great man!

  • great job. Rotoscoping is so tedious isnt it? i hated doing it for my project at school haha.

  • This took approximately 50 - 60 hrs total from beginning to end. Many, Many hours drawing the lines by hand at 12 frames per second.

  • jesus christ, did you use a tablet ? or some other technique?

  • would mostly be filters

  • how long did this take you to do? I want to do this kind of stuff!

  • This was made for a company called Alpine Access. They are the #1 home operator company in the United States. This was a lot of work, but worth it in the end. We are planning on doing another one possibly in a week or two.

  • Good stuff, man. Was this made for a client, or is it more of an experiment?
