This was STREETSCAPE - a pioneering Canadian street dance group,1982-'85. Formed in Calgary, Alberta by Colin "Steamboat" Bloudoff (the white guy:) Founding members were: Colin, Wayne "The Saint" Headley, Bradley "Breakin' Brad" Rapier, and Paul "Ripple" Lewis. Boogaloo Sam danced with them in 1984. This taping was on The Don Harron Show, a national talk show, November 21st, '84.
Nice -this is the footage we saw ! some solid Canadian History . Although as a bboy back then we would of smoked ya on the bboy tip !!! Much love and props though.
Dancing skill has nothing to do with the color of your skin. It takes years of practice and dedication. Saying otherwise is insulting to the other members of the group, implying they're not working as hard as the white guy does in order to overcome his debilitating handicap of being white.
This is Canada's first street dance group STREET SCAPE. Boogaloo Sam came in as a guest. He was there their mentor. This is from the early 80s. The members of Street Scape are Bradley Rapier (founder of the Groovaloos), Wayne Headley, Colin Bloudoff (white guy), and Paul Lewis.

@groovaloos - Not sure I would say the first -but important non the less. Montreal had New Energy, Ottawa -CFM, Toronto -Wild style, 5 aces, zodiac etc
Where, I can't see any? There might not be any actual Charleston, but they are doing some toprock, which has some Charleston inspired moves such as the Charley-Rock.
No, it has nothing to do with politics. What it has to do with is the fact that every other comment on this video is about who the white guy is, like it's a miracle that a white guy can dance. Anybody can do anything they set their mind to, just like a black person being President. He could do just as good a job as anyone else. The reason I made that comment (which I don't believe, by the way) is to see if any hypocrites would bash me for it.
so classic ,so funky,so smooth,,,just in thre good days bogollo sam & the team,,,,so good to watch bogoolo sam its just a art on dance gettin better even thou the clips r kinda old
Teemack, never underestimate the blackness of a white man when he's surrounded by other black men. His uncanny dancing ability is an evolutionary mimicry, designed to aid in his acquisition of white females who would normally go for the good-dancing black guys instead of him.
dang now thats what i like to see personally i consider myself middle skool i love the performance style poppin lyk what we saw here and i always enjoy battling i think of it as a tribesman against tribesman type thing yano..battling for respect..and trust me when you combine both together you feel part of the culture i urge everyone to try it!peace
when it comes down to popping or locking, there's always facial expressions that need to be made and that's what some new skoolers dont have. there more interested in battles to see who's THEE BEST........rememeber your in character......

By today's standards this all seems slow and basic (though it still entertaine me to no end). But, back in the day, this was off the hook.
I'd love to see some kids take us 20 years into the future by jumping from today's styles into hyper dance. Any links for that?
