  • @lzulls23 Rutgers beat Louisville on December 4th 2008, i made that comment 10 months ago in 2010. and even now, its only 2 and a half years since that game you dumb shit

  • that hit was clean..Zy led wit his shoulder as simple as dat..no head to head contact..Clean Hit..good luck to Zy's future..

  • This is not an illegal hit. The receiver had a chance at the ball. Over the middle a player cannot stop his momentum to avoid such a hit, even if he knew the ball got knocked out of the receiver's reach.

  • going to take more than that to keep dougie off the field

    brian leonard iz awesome

  • Ok look he hit him in the head it is not a clean hit. it doesnt matter if he lead with his shoulder, the man still got hit in the head. kitchen couldve broke his fuckin neck. he might not have meant to, i dont think anyone who plays the game thinks ooo hey ima go injure someone. but none of that matters they implemented a rule a good one i might add. it was a good call.

  • I've been a ref for 25 years. The NCAA Rules Ctte want hits like this removed from the game to safeguard young athletes. BY RULE this is an illegal hit.

Rule 9-1-3-b No player shall initiate contact and target a defenceless opponent above the shoulders.

That hit was to the head, it is a foul. End of story.

It is in the Rules, it is in the "Points of Emphasis" at the front of the Rule book. All the kid has to do is read it. All his coaches have to do is read it and teach him to tackle properly.

  • It's debatable. Yes, the receiver was "defenseless," but if he had held onto the ball, he wouldn't have been. The safety led with the shoulder, not the helmet, and it looks more like he misjudged the timing of the hit rather than actually going for the head. It's a judgment call - many refs throw the flag regardless of intent.

  • Appreciate your measured sensible response, I don't see that much on Youtube.

NCAA defines "defenceless" players and a pass receiver whose concentration is on the ball is defenceless. Catching it makes no difference to that definition.

Leading with shoulder makes no difference, he hit the receiver in the head. You cannot hit defenceless players above the shoulders.

Intent makes no difference - we don't judge whether the offender "meant it", merely where he hits the receiver.

  • well im pretty sure zaire doesnt know the rules from cover to back, and im sure not many of the players do. and he does know how to tackel "properly". after several years of watching him, he can tackle very well. and he definitely didnt mean or even try to do that cause zaire is not dirty, hes just aggressive. hes also just doing his job. so as unintentional as it was, i agree, it doesnt matter, the flag has to be thrown (even though the same kind of play by uofl was ignored before this)

  • i watched this game when i saw that hit i thought kitchen needs his little but kicked out of the game

  • why would he get kicked out of the game. It was a hard hit and unfortunate but clean. The penalty was a bad call.

  • dayum...aint wanna see my nicca beaumont get hit like et...he good tho

  • LoL... Dumb Quarterback... That was a perfectly legal hit... I feel bad for the Receiver but shit happens.. Its football.. LMAo.. Layed the lumber hahahah I cant stop laughing... ZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • blame the quarterback for that pitiful throw. the ball hung up in the air for 5 minutes. no wonder he was crushed.

  • clean hit

  • thats my little cuzin on the receiving end of that hit.. and that was a cheap shot, when u see the ball is fallin out anyway!!!

  • Hope hes all right but there's no way he could have pulled up from that hit by the time the ball came loose. Things look easier in slow mo

  • @dudeisFAMOUS45 Ref said unnecessary roughness as the penalty for leading with the helmet...he didnt call helmet to helmet

  • He didn't say helmet to helmet actually, he said leading with the helmet.

  • clean hard hit with shoulder pads.. Louisville did the same hing in the first half.

  • BTW- the ref announced the call as being for "leading with the helmet".. which was untrue.. not that he could see for certain with that kind of closing speed between the two players.

  • CLEAN hit.. shoulder to shoulder. But what is the rule on "launching"? I think the NFL has a rule against it, not the NCAA.. yet. BTW.. A Louisville guy did the exact same thing earlier in the game, no flag. I do think the NCAA needs a rule that specifies you must play the ball until the player actually catches the ball. If you cannot see him holding the ball, you cannot tackle him with a shoulder tackle.

  • It was a legal hit, but it wasnt a clean hit, so I see both sides. You can launch ur yourself shoulder-first from a different angle (hitting him in the chest) to dislodge the receiver from the ball. I dont think there's a Horsecollar rule in college, but that is an example of somethin that is legal, but not clean.

  • what was you guys watching if u watch he measured and readjusted to hit high I think the league should look at possible suspension! hope I get to meet him in a dark ally!! mAYBE HE AND THE NEW MEXICO SOCCER PLAYER SHOULD GET MARRIED

  • readjusted? hahaha have you ever played football before? He is running full speed looking to make a hit on a WR. He makes a clean hit. I hope the WR is ok. I also guarantee you wouldnt talk that garbage about a dark ally to his face.

  • Comment removed

  • you sure its a clean hit to hit the head with a shoulder? The hit looked a little high, as I always thought body to body was the way to do it. But if I had the chance, I'd take the penalty to knock a WR out of the game.

  • legit, nothing wrong here...if you throw a flag on this play....find a new job.

  • Wow that hit looked pretty clean to me, it's frustrating to see an official make a call based on the aftermath rather than the act itself.

  • enjoy it while u can, boys. cuz soon football will be 2-hand-touch. Garbage call.

  • they shouldn't have given him a penalty for unnecessary roughness, that was a clean and legal hit. he just knows how to lay the lumber on someone. thank God that wasn't USC Saftey Taylor Mays, he may have killed someone.

  • clean fucking hit
