sweet thanks ima grab one of those devices all i want is for skype and you can also get free text messages from google voice so you dont gotta buy no skype credit for text messages, you just gotta buy a skype number and link it to your google voice and you can text from google voice for free! and i subscribed man thanks!

@sonybravia117 You must be lucky, I am returning my second device to Archos repair center. The user experience is very poor especially if you are use to capacitive screens.

The touch screen is resistive so very little else to say, you really need to press hard with your fingertips or nails to move around the screen. Watching this guy here the whole thing looks cool but it doen't. I wouldn't buy it if I had known this but now is too late. Other features, networking, HDMI are OK

@bjornzotjes No it has no SIM card or anything, it's strictly wifi. If you want an android phone, try the HTC Thundebolt, HTC Aria, MyTouch 4G, or the Nexus S 4G.

Can someone please tell me, does the Archos 43 have any limit on the micro usb slot? By this i mean if I wanted could i get a micro usb with a massive capability with it still working.

Also is the Archos 43 able to be 'rooted'?

@Zinloos1 By that I mean, lets say I have an Archos 43, it can have a micro usb slot, i could use a 1gb or a 2gb or a 4gb etc etc.... but is there a limit to how much I cold have? So if i wanted could i get a 64gb? With other devices like my Skype phone it can only use 4gb micro sd cards or lower, it dosen't work with 8gb or 16gb.

@filipe3361 Yes, with a USB keyboard too, you need USB host to micro USB adaptor cable from Archos though for that. Or with Bluetooth keyboard. Or slowly typing using the screen as a mouse.

@carazy213 The screen is fairly responsive but typing is pretty annoying because you can't press too hard or too soft otherwise it will enter in random letters. But actually pretty good for a capacitive.

The New Archos 70 and 101 both with Android 2.2 have Capacitive screens. and good ones. so Multi-touch and everything will work wonderfully.

it seems to play the movie smoothly on the built in lcd screen. Why didn't you try it out on hdmi? won't it play smoothly like in the built in lcd?

@BlackChace The firmware is pre-release kind of still, I think they will fix the audio sync on HDMI for these particular high bitrate MKV with DTS audio, I'll refilm some videos showing that. Consider Archos is due to release Android 2.2 firmware very soon, maybe next week. The thing is HDMI outputs in 720p to a HDTV, the videos are upscaled or displayed differently than on the WVGA LCD screen. Stay tuned and check the ArchosFans forum.

there are rumors that the archos 101 resolution (1024x600) will not be compatible with android marketplace apps, is that true charbax? im deciding on the 70 or the 101

@luisM316 Anything that works on Samsung Galaxy Tab will work on 101 too. Most apps will work. I think just as many apps that work on iPad will work on 1024x600 Android tablets.
