@Temanilove i think this was invented in the 1950s or 60s, following the western harp, you are right. but there are some essential changes in the design to make sure that the harp can satisify the special performing skills of ancient ones. So a western harpist can definitely play this instrument but cannot express this kind of music.
@Xhokky this modern form is very young indeed, it was revived in the 20th century, but it is a revival of the ancient konghou that went extinct in the Ming Dynasty. However, this instrument does not resemble the ancient konghou but more the western harp. The konghou looked more like the japanese kugo (which is also only recently revived, but at least they tried to stick to the original form more so than the chinese revivalists).
there are a website that you could buy the Konghou so cheap. it s only 1999$. get it for your new year gift. it has 36 string . cross strung strings. i thought about buy one of them for my self.
Similar to guzheng.

@Xhokky Actually I believe this instrument was around before but died out in the Ming Dynasty and has only recently been revived again.

Beautiful! What are the differences with his and a normal western Harp? sounds the same to me.

@killergirls the strings are folded over so there are actually two sides to the instrument, which allows for more complex playing :)
