  • M-O-R-R-I-C-O-N-E

  • Da wackeln die Pappkulissen!! Großartiger Score. Grazie Maestro.

  • i did't undertstand but i know maestro morricone is a genius que no!

  • can it get any better?

  • Red Sonja might have met her match folks. Rumor has it that in 2012, a fantasy is coming out with a new girl warrior with a sword the size as Gut's. A black girl at that.

If anyone here knows the title, please let me know.

  • @PokerWhale Hey poker, I read something about that on yahoo questions not long ago. Check there.

  • @PokerWhale The author's name is white though, even though the girl is black. It's called Pride or something like that. I know Pride is in the title. If you go to a forum about Berserk, I'm sure you'll find out more.

  • @PokerWhale Just rumors probably.

  • @amstrad79b Probably, we'll see.

  • @PokerWhale I heard about it too. On comic vine.

  • @Gamersquid1 Where on comic vine?

  • WOW! 2 of some favorite things in my life, RED SONJA and ENNIO MORRICONE'S music! this movie was a fav as a kid and i like listening to this when i read RED SONJA and CONAN lol..yes kinda nerdy i know!

  • I don't fear death, I just fear how far the eighties are getting

  • GREAT memories, unique !!

  • Great music just grabs you and gives so much more to a film - Ennio, there are none better then.

  • arnold is god!

  • arnie wasn't that good in acting.. but still no one can replace his roles.. no matter how good they are in acting.. no matter how clear their accent is.. how big their muscles are.. no actor can replace him

  • MASTERPIECE!

  • Red Sonja // Music by PHIL MOON aka V° (1996) on you tube

  • este filme quando passou no cinema assisti seis vezes foi muito legal não esqueço ate hoje parabens.

  • I don't care what all the haters say. This movie is awesome and the score is incredible. It has a great cast with Arnold and Brigitte alongside Sandahl Bergman, Paul Smith, Ronald Lacey and Pat Roach. Sonja is one sexy as hell warrior chick i'd like to bang.

  • @TheAltair4

Me too, she is hot and could kick Xena's ass anytime

  • red sonja is a film ive watched since i was 5 and im nearly 24 lol i love it but as an adult the music makes me cry i love it lol xx

  • I will say it too.Brigitte Nielson was not so bad as Red Sonja. And dont make a remake. You can`t cach the flair of the barbarian-movies from the 80`s.

The remake of Clash of the Titans sucks, too.

But Brigitte is very best as the Black Witch in Fantaghiro!

  • @LadyKajlia

Well Robert Rodriguez is gonna helm the remake as producer! it could be good with his touch since he made Grindhouse, Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn, El Mariachi, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, The Faculty and other quality action movies since he's one of the best action directors ever.

  • This needs to be in a better movie than Red Sonja (although, it is a guilty pleasure...)

  • Love it. You can almost picture Sonja riding purposefully onward to more ass-kicking when you hear this music.

  • Great music, horrid movie !

  • Thanks for the upload. Man, that love theme is so moving and so stirring.

  • I think Bridget Nielson made a good Red Sonja...I dont think anyone else could have pulled it off

  • His music just tighens my colon.......

  • While I love Ennio Morricone (one of the best movie composers of all time), his Red Sonja soundtrack isn't as enthralling as Basil Poledouris' full-blown orchestral score for Conan the Barbarian. It might have been because the production was a very low-budget one, or just because Basil Poledouris overdid himself on Conan the Barbarian (It is the best movie soundtrack of the latter half of the 20th century). I like the lead trumpets in Morricone, but it always reminds me of his westerns.

  • @Simpson654 you know its funny. He can compose a really lovely scores to crappy horrible movies. Take for instance.. his score for ORCA. Its actually very beautiful to here. You can actually feel like your in the setting of the movie (ie, the cold, the ocean, the snow etc) Maybe its just me.

  • @Simpson654 Very well said, I am a big fan of both soundtracks but the score to Conan is significantly mote operatic and complex Imo.

  • im gonna sample this track

  • The only good thing about the movie was the soundtrack.

  • @HoboJoe83 I don't agree... For the lovers of 80's heroïc fantasy, I find it has the adventurous touch, kitsch, humor, nice landscapes and costumes... And the special ambiance of the films from that time...

  • @Zuxilbaja i agree

  • @tag1989 Well yes, let's be fair! Red Sonya is broadcasted at least once a year. It is a classic like Conan, Flash Gordon or Big trouble in little China...

  • I could be wrong but at 7.48 to 7.54 is that a tune used in Conan the Barbarian? I can't really place what track I'm thinking of.

  • @ClassicVGM

It's not but i have to admit it's very reminiscent of the "Recovery" track from Conan.

  • inferior a las peliculas de conan, pero buena pelicula no obstante.

  • PIECE OF SHIIIIT MOVIE !!!! LOOOOOL

  • Thank you for uploading and keep the sword and sorcery alive!

  • When I heard they were remaking this, one name came to mind: Alicia Witt.

  • i honestly pity the poor sod who gave this a thumbsdown. How sad.

  • I keep hoping that sometime they will bring back Conan and Sonja, but i know they never will... worth hoping though

  • @argonsilvereye They're bringing back Conan. Don't know about Sonja though...

  • @argonsilvereye Oh, according to IMDB they are planning a Red Sonja movie for 2011 and the current cast is Megan Fox and Rose McGowan.

Should I laugh or cry now?

  • yeah stuff is to clean these days

  • I think the closest fantasy film of recent years that came close to capturing the spirit of action combined with a great score was The 13th Warrior.

It's so true, Whenever someone says what's your fave sword and sorcery films, most times the reply will be "Conan!" :o)

  • @Dirtcreature

Troy also had the same action (and a Bit of Romance) that many of the later Fantasy Movies had in the 1980s

  • @Dirtcreature Conan is a god amongst movies.

  • wasn't red sonja such a terrible script tho? I've always enjoyed the older genre fantasy movies as well, but it's remarkable how badly certain aspects were like. I think and always thought there are enjoyable parts and discredited aspects of everything ...i think the song is named Kalidorian or something, after Arnold's character.

  • Dam i love that ending score from 6:26 till end, it just stuck in my head and keep repeating over and over :)

  • thats the most annoying part of it to xD now its stuck in my head to

  • Epic Music, great babarian film!

As sevalricka says, old movies will always be the best!!

  • I love these old fantasy movies, they really had something that makes you remember them, while the new one, no matter how great they look, you just sit and enjoy them for 2 hours and then forget all about them...

  • The end of this song is a bit romantic. Makes me want to plant a kpassionate kiss on some fine woman.LOL! Yeah! I said it !

  • Now thats what I call a thrilling movie poster! *__*

Imagine that with real photographs.. Wouldnt be half as amazing!

  • Why aren't more current movies exploiting the soundtracks like Conan et al did? A lack of comparable composers? or the storylines like any kind of thematic richness?

  • Just caught the ending on HBO and immediately came to youtube for the last music track. Good Point moviee5, it's very beautiful. Ennio Morricone is my hero.

  • alguien sabe dnd puedo conseguir el tema? como se llama?????

  • You have to wait until 2:24 to get a feel for just how good this soundtrack is. Then again at 6:02 the final track is beautiful and haunting. The trumpet there is gorgeous.

  • KALINTOR O MONOMAXOS!!!

  • good

  • The last track brings tears to my eyes for some reason, very beautiful, a masterpiece!

  • @moviee5 the last track is certainly very pleasurable to listen to, Majestic is the word it brings to mind

  • @QueekHeadtaker

It's the opening march that really blows me away.

What irritates me though in Red Sonja, is the seemingly endless Sonja, Sonja! shouts and the abrupt orchestral stops there. But all in all RS is fuller and more fleshed out than that other sword&sandal score; Hundra. Although that one has its very fine moments as well: Chase and Wartheme and Slaughter in the village.

I never understood why Americans hang on so much to the likes of Poledouris. Mucho decibels, low in melody

  • Red Sonja was one of the best Sword and Sorcery Movies in the 80s, next to Dragonslayer.

  • Why no one of modern actors is so known as those played Conan, Rambo, Robocop etc...? Lack of good scenario? or lack of mastery (skills)

  • Hey, the lyrics are memorable! :D

    Sonja! Sonja! Sooonjaaa!!

  • Red Sonja is a great movie becase of this music !!

  • This is a great score for a horrible, horrible, horrible movie that was awful in spite of having both Arnold AND Sandahl.

  • It wasn't that bad for those times. You shouldn't compare it to todays movies.

  • i play this score over and over again so beautiful.

  • So awesome.

  • Absolutely love this, thanks for posting!!

  • Gran bella musica di Morricone per un film niente di speciale

  • Comment removed

  • Buli0n I know when i was a kid i thought Kalidor was Conan I thought it was a cross over you know like Aliens vs Predator or Street Fighter and Final Fight

  • does anyone know where to get the whole soundtrack? i am looking for that track (score) where Red & Kalidor fight with there swords and end up breathless!? please let me know?

  • I don't think there was a soundtrack of this movie. I have a soundtrack called arnold movies i got it almost 15 years ago and that score is ni this CD.

  • Kalidor was Conan for me as a child ;P

  • In Brazil the movie called "guerreiros do fogo" means fire´s warrior-- Its a good production for the age... The soundtrack is marvelous!!!

  • E o filme também, na minha opinião (And the movie, too - in my opinion)!

  • Thanks for this!Great!

  • I've never seen this movie; all I've seen of this movie is the review by the Nostalgia Critic, and even though he gave it a bad review, it looks kind of good, and the musical score is just great! And besides, it's got the future governor of California and the future wife of Flava Flav, who actually used to be a dignified rapper when he was in Public Enemy. (He still wore a clock-necklace, though.)

  • worth seeing for brigitte nielsen alone. Physically she was one of the most impressive female specimens ever, (but ended shortly with all the drug abuse and plastic surgery)

  • Ennio Morricone was downright AWESOME in making the musical scores for such a wonderful but unappreciated movie Red Sonja. My favorite is the musical score in the ending credits named "Love Theme". Additionally, the movie was great. It was meant to be a great family movie.

Can't wait for the new verson who I believe Red Sonja will be played by Rose McGowyn from the old Charmed television show.

  • Ennio Morricone can never fail. he creates magic.

  • agreed

  • The movie was not so good in my opinion. I knew it as "Kalidor", not "Sonja la Rouge". The French distributors were so unsure about the movie's success that they named it after Arnold's character.

  • In Italy it's called "Yado" because that's what the name of Kalidor's character was changed into for distribution reasons i suppose!!!

  • Bottomline : No remake of a Conan movie or Red Sonja will ever be the same without Arnold or Bridgette. They made the movies. Arnold is one of the actors that plays a roll that can never be filled.

  • @NuckleFunkD damn right, except one thing: it's Brigitte, Brigitte Nielsen. yeeeaahh (Flava flav). Keep that sense for nostalgia up...

  • @NuckleFunkD i agree, which is why the commando remake is gonna BLOW!!!

  • @bdude93 Commando remake??? please, tell me that you're joking...

  • @NuckleFunkD yes thank good for ur wisdom im tired of listening to these other fuckers talk shit on the originals like they have a clue. the originals owned

  • @evilspitfire69

Well Red Sonja should stick to being like the comics or original books and that is what the remake should be like.

  • The official name on the Varese Sarabande release for the final track is not love theme/end credits. It's "Symphonic suite for chorus pt2"

  • The Love Theme/End Credits is the best!! Thanks for posting!

  • what's the name of the track?

  • It is 3 tracks joined together. I don't know if these are the official titles, but the German CD lists them as:

    1) Main Title / Kalidor's Theme

    2) Fighting the Soldiers

    3) Love Theme / End Credits

  • thanks!!!!!!!!!!

  • I suppose you think Carmina Burana is cheesy also...

  • Dont care what most people say! This movie is great! I watched it with my father as a child so it holds a lot of nice memorys for me and its very entertaining compared to many so called top movies these days!

  • For Real this movie was great compare to the Hercules and Xena shows back in the 90s. I was probably 9 or 10 when I saw this. I'm surprised that this was a box office bomb back then cause I loved it!

  • thanks for posting..I never knew there was a soundtrack,Im soo ashamed of myself...I love this movie.

  • Does anyone know where one can get an MP3 or CD version of the red sonja songs?

  • new red sonja video online on my you tube account with alternative music

  • this movie is epic

  • A great movie with great stars and a fantastic soundtrack. The magic of the 80's!

  • Yeah your right....

Red Sonja will return... but in 2009

    Rose McGowan will play Sonja....

Robert Rodriguez will produce the movie...

  • 2010 Red Sonja Returns. This is assured.

  • I don't wanna be offensive, but I'm not looking forward the 2010's movie. The version played by Brigittie Nielsen is, in my opinion, more faithful to Robert E. Howard than whatever other movie based upon the Texan's fiction. Agreeing with Kintire, member of the Mongoose website, Red Sonja (1985) happens in a post-Hyborian world - what has more to do with REH than a Vanir-like Hykanian with Hyperborean name, living in the Age of Conan. ;)

  • It fits the theme of a noble king, hence lord kalidor.

  • Red Sonja was one of my fav movies when I was a child! It is still a great movie!

  • I agree with you! :) A great movie, and more faithful to Robert E. Howard than Conan The Barbarian, Conan The Destroyer and Kull The Conqueror! :D

  • more faithful? as i know(maybe i am wrong) red sonja created by Howard but he never wrote a story with her

  • Yes, he wrote. It's "The Shadow of the Vulture". Though REH created Red Sonya of Rogatine as a 16th Century's character, the movie with Brigittie Nielsen is more faithful to Howard. Here's the last part of an answer I did, two weeks ago, for lyford3141:

"Agreeing with Kintire, member of the Mongoose website, Red Sonja (1985) happens in a post-Hyborian world - what has more to do with REH than a Vanir-like Hykanian with Hyperborean name, living in the Age of Conan. ;) ".

  • It's pretty obvious, IMO, that "Red Sonja" (1985) portrayed Kalidor as Cimmerian chieftain from the Vilayet's southwestern shores, who came riding across the steppes; Sonja is an Vanir/Aesir-blooded Hyperborean, while Queen Gerden is a Hyperborean without Nordheimr DNA. Prince Tharn is an Hyrkanian remnant at west of Vilayet. Plus, there are no cities in the movie: only castles, rests of castles, villages and ruined cities. The movie happens in the Ice Age, centuries after Conan's Era! ;)

  • "...portrayed Kalidor as Cimmerian chieftain". Sorry; I meant "...portrayed Kalidor as A Cimmerian chieftain".

  • Kalidor is suposed to be a desenent of Conan

  • Not true, the origanal "Red Sonja" stories featuered her as Frinch piratess of the Nepolionic era.

The Red Sonja of the movie is based on the Marvel Comics character, who in turn is realy a redress of Howard's character Valeria of the Red Brotherhood.

  • The original Red Sonya - not "Red Sonja", as in Marvel Comics - belongs to a Howard's tale called "The Shadow of the Vulture", where Sonya is a Russian she-warrior who fought the Suleyman's Turks in Viena at 1529. She was portrayed by REH as sister of Roxelana - this last one, a historical character who became later empress of the Ottoman Empire.

You can find "The Shadow...", with the original Red Sonya, in e-texts availabe at Wikipedia and Gutenberg.

  • @FNeeser I'd only like to add, that the original Roxolana wasn't Russian, she was Ruthenian ( we would say Ukrainian today ). She was born and raised in Rzeczpospolita, and some historicians have idea, that because of that reason she influenced Suleyman to maintain peace with Polish kings.

  • Thank you very much much for the informations, @blizz90pl! :) The comments I did about Roxelana, 5 months ago, were only about ficticious' one. ;)

  • As for Red Sonja in the movies, I know she was based on the Marvel's one. What I meant to say 10 months ago is: the movie isn't faithful to the Howard's tale "The Shadow of the Vulture", but it's VERY faithful to Howard's essay "The Hyborian Age". ;)

  • My appoligies, it had been some time scence I read about the origens of Marvle's Red Sonja and mis-remembered the information.

You seem quite well versed in Mr. Howard's works, and as a fan of them, I applaud and salute you.

  • No problem, busterread. :) Thanks for your praises!

  • 5/5 !!!

  • Thank you for sharing this. Love it!!!

  • Fantastic

  • The only thing that deserved from this movie is Morricone's music: tremendous, especially Calidor's Theme.

  • Morricone the best in a whole world!

  • i love this sonja theme :)

  • DANKE!!! GEILE MUSIK!!!

  • dam i love this song

  • I like the idea of Morricone's music for the Conan story, but not necessarily this one. It's a little too light hearted.

  • excellente musica de ennio morricone que casou muito bem com o filme
