Actually you should ignore the advice in this video. We are *not* pure positive new age hippies - we are people who understand the science of how dogs learn! People out there - read "The Culture Clash" and "Don't Shoot the Dog" - you'll get more out of it than you will this crap. If you are in to vids, watch "kikopup" channel on youtube. You'll become a believer:-)
@starwarssuck That pretty much describes compulsive dominance obsessed type trainers in my experience.
Also, as us "Purely positive" people use NEGATIVE punishment in our form of training, only those who don't have the foggiest idea what they are talking about believe us to be purely positive.
@starwarssuck Telling people to ignore others because they are "morons" simply makes you look bad. I'm not a new age hippie. I, and others, are people who know an awful lot about dog behavior and learning theory and have a lot of experience training dogs.
The advice offered in this video is a lot more "new age" than I would ever use. Growling at a dog before you leave? What is that supposed to accomplish? Unlike these people, I know my dog is a dog and my dog knows I'm NOT a dog.
The vast majority of this advice is BAD. Growling at your dog will do nothing. Tossing food around the yard is a recipe for disaster (I don't want my dog foraging -- what if someone decides to throw poisoned meat over the fence?). And the idea of the pack leader has been debunked. Come on John Tesh. People all over listen to you. You can do better than this load of BS!

Great Advice!
Great Vid!
Ignore this Morons who critizice your advise, they are part of the pure positive new age hippie movement on dog training.
They see what they want to see and listen only what they want to hear.
