Predictably, therefore, I have very little respect or tolerance for the "Southern Lifestyle." Because I do not know you personally, I will not engage you further or speculate as to what I suspect you probably are.
@JohnIsaacLevy I will be a seventy-five years old in a few days with God's indulgence. Born in Florida, and raised by parents from Alabama. Children here and in New York, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma and kin in Mississippi. Though they live north and west of me, they are all beautiful people, congenial and loaded with “Southern Hospitality.” I'm sure they would – as I do – tolerate your inability to accept life on the other side of the Mason-Dixon line as meaningful, Jim Trucks
At a time in history when the country desperately requires the assistance of every region and citizen, the South steadfastly clings to fake religion, football, food, fornication, fiesta (an endless and worthless array of social events), and, of course, ultimate failure. It was my extreme misfortune to be born and raised in Mississippi during Jim Crow, (current age 63), and as an orthodox Jew, I was persecuted by the rednecks right along with my black brethren.
@JohnIsaacLevy Had you redefined fornication in your litany, you would have accurately summed up reasons for existing. I wager that even a Monk smiles now and then. There are no fake religions... only believers and nonbelievers. How can one chastise another for persecution when his own words do that very thing? And how in the world did either Jim's talent become a racial matter?
Trust me, Mr. Trucks, I did not waste 3:54 in determining that this was not the original, and highly talented Jim Weatherly. As far as your allusion to "affordable housing" for the "less fortunate" is concerned, you obviously do not understand what the expression "trailer park trash" symbolizes. It is a metaphor by which other regions of the US refer to the ignorance, backwardness, and utter stupidity of the American South and State of Mississippi in particular.
@JohnIsaacLevy “Trailer park trash.” Metaphor or not, it is used by those holier than thous that feel their donations to society are the only acts that have genuine validity. You fire your cannons at those of us in the south; especially, Mississippi “trailer park trash.” Do you except yourself from the backward, ignorant stupid residing in the south? Or are you sighting us from a northern retreat? Surely you would'nt remain where the ignorant abound... Jim
Thank God this is not The Jim Weatherly, former Ole Miss quarterback and singer of "The Need to Be." I almost lost 40 years of respect for a supreme muscial talent in the space of 3:54. This video is typical Mississippi, trailer park trash.
@JohnIsaacLevy@JohnIsaacLevy What puzzles me is: Why would a reasonable person listen to something he/she found distasteful for 3:54? I wasn't familiar with the other Jim Weatherly, so I listened to him a few seconds and determined that he was talented, but not exactly my style. I have no idea where you or your Jim live. I really don't think ones home has any effect on their talent. Affordable housing is a God-send to many less fortunates; whether they attended Ole Miss or not... Jim Trucks
Yes, this is Jim Weatherly. Obviously not the singer/song writer you're thinking of, but his name is definately "Jim Weatherly" I didn't mean to be misleading. Thanks for viewing the video. Sorry for the disapointment...Jim Trucks
