Adding my two cents, I wasn't born when R/H and A/D happened. I just found out Kate existed a couple of months ago. I discovered all of these classic GH couples last year. I first watched A/D on youtube, then I kind of watched R/H in the Mexico Adventure but ended up liking F&F more. Then I was really confused wondering where Robin was. So then I saw a clip of R/A on the beach, I was hooked from there. Something about R/A just pulled me in. I like all the other couples but R/A is my favorite.
I enjoyed K/R and H/R while it lasted. Couldn't stand D/A or R/C. But R/A were just such a saga from beginning to end up to their most recent appearance. There is just so much history, backstory, and chemistry between actors for me not to root for them as a couple.
I Love this scene. The way Anna talks so fast and then Robert sort of fast and then they just reply to each other with one word. They have a real friendship and see Anna encouraging the the Robert and Kate relationship. I like all three of them at this time.
I will have to throw my two cents in and agree with "feck" I am a R/K fan all the way. Back in the day it was all about Anna and Duke for me. (before Kate came along) I always felt that R/A did have a special bond and chemistry together. However, once Anna found Duke and Robert found Kate I really felt these people had finally found the ones they were suppose to be with.
R/A leaning over at the same, too cute. Oh, wait, I'm supposed to be a R/K fan while watching these. The show didn't make that easy did they? I gues TR/FH were playing up the R/A connection, but on the docks, they seemed more like a couple than best friends. And then here comes Kate and it's like you just completely forgot she's around.
Funny, I think the show made it really easy to be a R/K fan. But I also wasn't a R/A fan going into it (I hadn't really watched soaps before). SO I'm watching that scene on the docks thinking that it's nice that R/A are such good friends. Ånd I genuinely enjoyed their relationship at this point. And when Kate shows up I am thinking "Oh, good. I was hoping she'd come along!" There was no way I was forgetting she was around. I guess it all depends on when you started watching :)
I started watching a little after this, and I don't remember having negative thoughts about R/K. But, during the Faison story I became an R/A fan and have been ever since.
Watching these scenes, I guess I started as a R/A fan. I recently stumbled on the R/K breakup and even though I know it had to happen for R/A to happen, it had me in tears. R/K do have chemistry and a great connection, but the R/A connection is stronger I think.
Hmmm.... to me, Robert and Anna always seemed to have more of a friendship and support connection than undying romance. Especially at this point in time. They were great together in their scenes, like I think Robert and Anna need each other as friends as that voice of reason and the little bird in their ear for things they don't want to admit. Personally, I think they are more comedy and friendship. Guess that's why their reunion seemed so hokey and fake to me when it happened.
I agree that parts of their reunion were hokey and forced. I think much of that was due to the sweeping changes GM made when she returned. Everything was fast, forced, and didn't germinate at the pace we were used to. BUT when I think of scenes between R&A in '91after Mac arrived and all the old wounds came to the surface (betrayal, hiding Robin, Robert's sanctimoniousness) those scenes rang very true to me. Not comedic, but painful. I do believe thru friendship R&A rediscovered a deep romance
@sweetcamera Yeah you are right! Robert and Anna as a couple was fast and forced! During the valentines day when she tied him up I thought it was funny at first and then it felt like their relationship was changing and I was thinking they aren't going to be a couple are they?! Cus I really didn't want them to be a couple!
@spazzo47 - @spazzo47 - Yes Kate, Jimmy is blond...this is where Soap writing is so dense. Kate worries about every other blond person but doesn't think it could be him OR Aunt Iona. Ugh!
@parisjade26 This is a women who went to a deserted location with her ex-fiance and then told him, while hundreds of feet above the ground, they she spend multiple weeks alone at the cottage with Robert. They were just writing in character....

Mac's arrival prompted some powerful scenes between Robert and Anna--and that train ride with the three of them is just outstanding.
