What is so special about Christmas in Washington? Usually no snow, but its cold anyway, and you see bums on the street asking for money and hookers dressed up as Santa Claus.

Well I grew up near DC, and we rarely if ever get a "white " Christmas. When and if we did, it was definitely front page news.

It's Christmas Eve in Washington, and The Library of Congress is open until 2PM today, the parts of the Library that are open on Saturday that is. It's open every Saturday including Holiday weekends

I've loved this song since the first time I heard it. About two years ago I was sitting down with my daughter at the closing on the first house in her name. While waiting for the papers to finish, the realtor mentioned she had done some recordings. I was fascinated, being a writer and musician myself, so I asked if I might have heard anything she'd done. You guessed it, Maura Sullivan was the realtor. Awesome lady and extremely great realtor.

Lived in Washington DC my whole life (I'm 36), and I can tell you there is nothing special about "Christmas Eve" or Christmas Day for that matter that would set it apart from any other town/city/village in America....the singer must mean Washington state or is not from DC...and must have visited during some Christmas Eve past and expereienced something "magical"...."magical" in DC for for most people from here is not being asked for money by a homeless person.

I was back in DC last CHristmas (2009) for the first time in 25 yrs. I miss it too. Living in MI during CHristmas just isn't the same either. I Love my wife and family but I miss "America's Hometown/ My Hometown"
