  • If I had $1 for every pixel in this video, I would be in debt.

  • @chumleechumlee Hit the road and watch some one else's page.

  • When I go to town I remember this song.

  • stop complaining about the poor quality of the video.. at least the guy put the video up (2006) when no one else did

  • b/w Help

  • my eyes... :(

  • You've got to remember, pixels weren't invented back then. The Wurlizer-zoo-optromatiscope that recorded had a very frail bakelite cylinder...hence the shitty quality.

  • The Shittenist song of all time. . . .

  • If I had $1 for every pixel in this video I would have $1

  • @reeceracing123 Go watch a different one then.

  • @NazNomad Lol! Nah, just joking i love the song though!!

  • Well too bad it was recorded in the 70's you dumb fuck up cunt.

  • @radiomindtherapy You know, I was trying to think of a good way of saying that but you pretty much nailed it.

  • @WafflesandWhales - I just now figured out that you want to see that particular member of the band. Sorry. I did not pay enough attention to your fascination. He is interviewed on Normal Bobs website. Look it up. You will get plenty of close ups for your "whatever".

  • @QuietBeige Oh my God, you fucking wanker! What if I wanted to see the poster's in the background? The point is, the quality sucks. It has nothing to do with what I want to see specifically. I just want to clear distinct faces and not a giant blob of colors.

  • @WafflesandWhales - Nice sense of humor but misdirected. You must spend a lot of your time brushing your teeth (and we all know why) to come up with a comment like that!

  • @QuietBeige Haters gonna hate! As if you don't think this bad quality? You're just trying to start something for absolutely no reason. Good day, child.

  • @WafflesandWhales - I've changed mind - you ARE funny! You don't understand what art is old maid. And stop with the "Haters" bull. It is just a cover for a weak perspective. Go back to your HD quality vapid existence! This is ROCK N ROLL!

  • sweet it is, gets better with age

  • the first punk record

  • used to race home on my bicycle to this song like a fucking mad man! just letting you know....

  • @hejafish use to?......i still do... im 45 but i got a vespa instead of grifter nowadays....x

  • @hejafish Love the fact you said that mate. Thats what this is all about,.....your memories may seem personal but will spark off other memories in people we may have forgotten.

    xxx

  • @hejafish I still do

  • cool song from the damned

  • Sorry if im interrupting but my mum used to be a rodie for them :D

  • @xXgorillazboosh11Xx dont you mean a groupie :D

  • @JustusGregorius

Nah,groupies just hang round the band and get off with them, rodies do actual work. She used to help put the stage up,work out the eletricals and help with the drums.NOT tyipical groupie behavouir!!!XD

  • RAT SCABIES.......FTW.

  • @DamanAlbarnFan ...if something is simple and great why mess with it??? This Damned song is just killer ..a guitar sound that is to weep for....and fantastic energy...from the whole band. Nick Lowe's production is raw as...

  • awesome punk rock song !!! I love the intro !!

  • Punks can`t play ? Brian James can ! And so can the other James in the Stooges. Most of the punk guitarists were a fucking musical and assholes too.

  • @aivopark Most punk guitarists can't play. I haven't really heard Brian James play anything outstanding on guitar. It is all simple rhythms and chord progressions with basic lead guitar over parts of the song. If you consider Television punk then Tom Verlaine is the best punk guitarist.

  • @DamonAlbarnFan Tom Verlain is a usless pussy, his musick was never even near to be a punk rock. Punk rock is too smart and fast to those assholess like you and the Led Zeppelin with friends.

  • @DamonAlbarnFan Yeah so it all depends on what you consider 'punk'. Stranglers could play--virtuoso guitar and keyboard. Stuart Adamson of Skids could play. Post-Jamese Damned could play--listen the Machine Gut Etiquette or Black albums. The punk ethic was to take whatever you had and come up with a song that provoked. Obviously some were better at it than others.

  • @DamonAlbarnFan You have NO IDEA what you are talking about . Both Pete Townsend & Jimmy Page cited Punk at the time. Would Thin Lizzy ever bothered to jam with Cook & Jones. Have you heard the 1st 2 Damned albums in their entirety ? The 1st 2 Stranglers lps , perhaps Never Mind the Bollocks? . Nicky Garratt of the UK Subs?? Paul Fox of the Ruts?Bob Andrews Generation X?Jake Burns Stiff Little Fingers? Mick Jones of the Clash. I could go on but I demand that YOU ACTUALLY DO YOUR HOMEWORK 1st!

  • @kingofpunk1977 i have heard all of them except generation x

  • @kingofpunk1977 and im not saying i don't like it

  • @DamonAlbarnFan Did you mean you have heard the of bands or the bands actual albums in their entirety on a decent stereo (not a lap top/squishy mp 3 sonics). And as some other chap said "simple & great why mess with it" . After 9 years 1967-76 of Rock music getting too complex & a little pretentious Punk wiped the slate clean. So your a D Albarn fan? Blurs biggest record worldwide was Song 2....mmm sounded Punky to me

  • @kingofpunk1977 i have heard some vinyl from them. Song 2 isn't the album it is the song. I would say that is the worst Blur album(self titled) and the worst Blur song. Park Life is my second favorite album of the 90s right behind Jeff Buckley's Grace.

  • @DamonAlbarnFan Just read your profile. You are 16 from the United States so unless you have a Dad or Uncle who is a Punk fan & has introduced you properly to Punk music from say the Stooges to Early 80's USA or UK , you don't know what you are talking about. It's your choice to not like Punk music but unless you have got the means to to hear original punk bands on a proper hifi system , you can not come up with the comment , "Punk guitarists can not play". I have bothered to check out ALL

  • @DamonAlbarnFan Cont ALL types of music from the early 1950's to early 1980's. From then on less so (Other than the Prodigy a lot of music that has come out since 1983 is not wholeheartly original) For example the Strokes (Velvet Underground/Television). I'm trying to do you a favor . My message is DO YOUR HOMEWORK & RESEARCH properly (the reward is for you to hear some fantastic music & you will feel happier for doing it. Lose the "cant play" attitude it's about ENJOYMENT

  • @kingofpunk1977 i know that the Strokes aren't original. No bands are completely original. I hate it when people say that one band sounds like another when the truth is all bands are influenced by somebody else. I was just saying they aren't in the caliber of playing as Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Carlos Santana, Bernard Butler. And i never said i didn't enjoy their music. There is no such thing with homework and research in music unless it is dates and what bands people are in. It is all opinions

  • @DamonAlbarnFan Yes you do have to do your homework when it comes to music. When I was your age 16 in 1983 I would not listen to any music prior 1976 or with the exception of Motorhead any band that had long hair. Very narrow minded looking back. Then on evening on TV I saw a doc on the Doors...And I lost the attitude my questions 1/ Have you heard the first 2 Damned albums in their entirety ? 2/ Do you have access to listen to music properly to a proper hi-fi system?

  • Respond to this video... You can only have an opinion in music when you have actually bothered to check out listen(my definition of homework & research) to a band . For example I have not heard Nazerth 's 2 nd album so it would be foolish of me to dismiss it. So my advice to you is listen to the first 2 Damned albums in their entirety then you wouldn't be so quick to spout your "Tom Varlaine" is the best guitarist opinion (I like Television BTW) . Everyday I learn something new in

  • @DamonAlbarnFan Cont ...Life & music & I'm 44. When you get to my age you disregard fashion/what year/cool/uncool/cult/popularity/kudos etc . Just enjoy the music. Last month I checked 1970's Status Quo (in the 1980's they were crap & dismissed them) what a great band they were. I am not a know it all I am still learning . This what makes life worth living . 2 records to listen to "Through Being Cool by Devo" & Limit Club by the Damned. Forget caliber it's about enjoyment.

  • @kingofpunk1977 Never really god into Devo but i will check it out. You should listen to Park Life by Blur or Odyssey and Oracle by The Zombies. Those are two of the best albums in my opinion.

  • @DamonAlbarnFan Parklife is a good album . I bought it the week it came out, trouble in the Message Centre is my fave. They combined so many styles & pulled it off Duran Duran meets Syd Barrett meets the Buzzcocks . I also own Odyssey and Oracle (bought 2 years ago) Beachwood Park is a great tune. Cheers for the recommendations cos if I didn't know them I would be chuffed. Please answer my original question . Have you heard the 1st 2 Damned Albums in their entirety. Thanks

  • @aivopark Are you not being the musical asshole by getting worked up over my opinion?

  • Many goth people listen to the damned though

  • I once got to hold Captain Sensible's cricket bat,

  • What's all this fucking GOTH shit ! This is very early PUNK, pure and simple.

  • whats hardcore ounk?

  • I like!!

  • I have listened to this song for over 30 years. It is still amazing. Raw and powerful. Still fresh.

  • Punk! Punk! Punk! and the God is a punkrocker!

  • Damned to Death ..

  • The funniest truth about THE DAMNED was they were the industry maneuvre of Robert Stigwood to stay up with where the money was coming from..Stigwood if you are so lovely to be ignorant was the gent behind the BEE GEES.

God everyone is taken in by the (expletive) music biz. You lovely CHUMPS!

  • Me and my mate met them in a record shop before a gig.... I said no to their autographs because I was a mod and my mate was a punk:)

  • who the fuck would dislike this? fucking outrage

  • the first single of the punk era

  • great punk rock song !

  • This really takes me back to the PUNK ROCK ERA - haven't heard this song since then - thank you - there was a great radio station in philly that played all this - WKDU - Drexel University

  • Classic :) with a nod of the head!

  • Classic :) with a nod of the head!

  • Saw the damned live a couple years ago, they're still amazing!

  • Brilliant

  • Magnificent record. Still sounds friggin' great.

  • Went to see Motorhead, The Damned and Girlschool at Newcastle city hall. Talk about money well spent! That was a fucking gig I'll not forget. The place was packed with Punks and Metal Heads and each band got fantastic cheers from both sets of fans.

  • i like :)

  • @cuutie666 me like two :)

  • good old fashioned tune!

  • Best song to come out of the Brit punk scene imo

  • 2.41 of perfection....thank you!

  • theyre playing in toronto?! im there! 4 days later Queens of the Stone Age. Fuckin Awesome

  • Hands down the BEST punk group every to come out of England. God I love these guys. I rememer being 15 in 1984 and hearing this record. It changed everything!

  • The original and still the best, saw them live a few times and with different line ups, but Vanian was always outstanding!

  • I think Dave Vanian did a lot to influence the eventual aesthetic of what would become goth, but they were clearly Punk at this point in their career, regardless of what they bacame later.

This is pointless though, I came to listen to a great song, not debate genres

  • fantastic the first punk song ever ..... released

  • @jonathanmas3n watch that punk documentary , huh?

  • For all you jerk offs arguing about shit you know nothing abou.....t the damned did progress to a gothic style with the album "Phantasmagoria" in 1986. The band was constantly changing its line up in the early mid 80's. I was surprised when Dave Vanian told me face to face that his favodite record of all time was the Doors first album (self titled). The clash progressed the same way but were more succesful

  • @NazNomad stop beeing a douche.... i said i liked bauhaus better..... xD Fuck you... i've just read an article/paper which the writer said that he thought of the damned as goth.... shut the fuck up all you fags....

  • @BnJohansen They might have become a goth band later on, I couldn't really say, but '77, they were punks

  • @ElvisChrist6 Thanks... for understanding :D

  • @BnJohansen u sound like a fag pufter boy

  • @julieanddavid why? have i offended you or something... xD stop raging... Troll

  • @BnJohansen STFU!

  • @BnJohansen im not a troll u gay tit ur the one sproutin off on a damned video PUFF

  • @BnJohansen no fuck you

  • @BnJohansen you two need to get a room ;-D

  • @goducks20101 haha xD i think it was some kind of misunderstanding.... i like em' both :D

  • @BnJohansen I've both Bauhaus (3 times in L.A.) recently and The Damned at Anaheim H.O.B.; like them both for different reasons. In any event......FLIPPER STILL RULES, OKAY ???....you can never have enough exclamation points or question marks.....or a sense of humor...say Captain, say Wot, repeat ad infinitum.

  • @BnJohansen I've SEEN (damned typo's) both Bauhaus (3 times in L.A.) recently and The Damned at Anaheim H.O.B.; like them both for different reasons. In any event......FLIPPER STILL RULES, OKAY ???....you can never have enough exclamation points or question marks.....or a sense of humor...say Captain, say Wot, repeat ad infinitum.

  • all i just said..... is that I think Bauhaus is better (my opinion is not the fact) so stop messing around

  • who the hell would ever say the damned were goth? you obviously have no fuckin idea what you're talkin about. thats like sayin the clash are sreamo. get your music right. the damned are punk. just cuz punks and emo's are anti society doesnt make em the same

  • I always thought of the Damned as a punk band... didn't they come out of Mick Jones/Tony James's LONDON SS?

Bauhaus are great too but completey different - they took their cue from Bolan and Bowie... but still without punk there would be no Bauhaus, so they owe that to the Damned.

  • just found another copy of this same vid which is clean and plays right through without the jumps. click on Damned New rose posted by skydoginternational. It's a new posting, not many views.

  • singer looks like adam lambert...still one of the best bands ever

  • Stooges!!!

  • I think this alot more death-rocky than goth.

  • excelente canción de los Damned

  • @MauriDamned IN ENGLISH

  • @qwq45 great song xD

  • @MauriDamned youre listening to an english band, singing in english. posted on american website. so why are you posting in some foreign jibberish. i could understand if it was posted in a foreign language that was relevant, but spanish?. c'mon, this isnt the ghetto now.

  • @qwq45 bueno sobame la verga entonces :)

  • @MauriDamned back to gutter spanish, when youve been humiliated and have nothing to say. just like what you say to a cop- mees no spica da ingleesh.

  • @qwq45 ahahah <3

  • wuaw que buenos recuerdos cuando salieron sex pistols clash ramones gen x new york dolls patty smith ian dury viva el punk

  • @punkero699 YOU TOO!

  • @qwq45 you have a english written tag, but you post in spanish. why not-you can get welfare without writing in english. interesting that you posted back not in spanish but english, why?

  • top tune

  • One of the greatest song starts ever

  • Is she really going out with him?

  • It's a funny debate. Suffice it to say that if New Rose is not released (first punk single ever) Bauhaus ends up a buncha hair stylists in Redding.

  • @mrblifil And what would The Damned be if MC5 had never kicked out the jams?

  • The best rock song ever recorded, so much energy !

  • THIS IS THE BEST DAMNED LINE UP. BRIAN JAMES CREATED THE DAMNED AND AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THAT'S ALL WE EVER NEEDED.

JAMES SHOULD GET A KNIGHTHOOD FOR NEW ROSE.

  • Band war....

  • Ye but The Damned Is not A goth band really, is Punk you know idiot

  • @VegaValentino OMFG.... in know that u fucking moron.... xD

  • @BnJohansen Then go listen to a bauhaus video...

  • @NazNomad ok.... i will xD no, but the damned rocks too

  • @NazNomad fucken ay, damned aint goth, they be punk rock bauhaus mofo.

  • @NazNomad

That's awesome NazNomad. No one else around like the Damned!

  • @NazNomad haha fkin tell them - fkin muppets thinkin they know it all haha!!!!

  • @BnJohansen the damned is a better punk band

  • @armandsdamanhoo yes..... they are the awsomest punk band ever..... but all i said was that i like bauhaus too ( and they are goth)

  • @BnJohansen so? these guys are more so Punk then anything. wearing black lipstick, white facepaint and dark cloths doesnt automatically make music "gothic"

  • @hellchild65 no... omfg.... bauhaus is like the original goth band "fathers" of goth music.... and yes, wearing black torn up clothing and black lipstick won't make you goth ( i mean, goth-music not goth clothing/ style) :D

  • @BnJohansen Good thing The Damned are a punk band then, besides Dave Vanian had the 'goth look' before bauhaus was formed. So your coolest goth band is a copy then.

  • @BnJohansen

The Damned were 'not' a goth band. Along with The Sex Pistols, The Clash etc they were what is historically called 'PUNK' bands!! And they were f***ing sh*t hot!!!

  • @Vampire4563 yeh.. i know, i like all the bands mentioned.... :D

  • @BnJohansen this is not a goth band

  • @BnJohansen erm no the damned are better and still going

  • @BnJohansen you are right! bauhaus are th best

  • @BnJohansen Well yes, but the Damned were first a punk band, goth came later for them. Great band no matter how you look at them. And don't forget, they were the first punk band to put out a single (beat the Sex Pistols)

  • @BnJohansen

Dude this is punk not goth music...

  • @engineeringtech i know... ofc.... punk..

  • @BnJohansen it's called punk.look it up in the dictionary.\m/

  • @BnJohansen plus, despite his appearance, the damned weren't goth, this song is nothing else but original vintage punk

  • @DamnedDamnedDamned1 why are you bothering with this cunt? goths= twats.

  • @1964chrissie It isn't goth.. it's punk, he was obviously just into vampires. just hearing the music tells you it's nothing but raw punk

  • @DamnedDamnedDamned1 Doomed from birth, Damned till death!!!!

  • @BnJohansen & what the fuck have the Damned got to do with Bauhaus!!!! Speaking as the fact I'm as punk as fuck but I love Bauhaus!!! Damned PUNK/Bauhaus Goth or POST PUNK..................... FUCKING EASY !!

  • @AgzDaRedz take it easy.. damn. i just said i like bauhaus (goth), i like the damned too !! it was a fucking misunderstanding!!!! got the fucking genres mixed up!!

  • @BnJohansen from another point of view, you are allowed to like both bands without worrying about stupid labels. I first saw the Damned live in 86 (it was the 10th anniversary tour), the same year i saw Peter Murphy live for the first time. Totally different gigs, both totally great in their own right.

  • @TheLexyboy Thanks for understanding :D !!

  • @BnJohansen

I think your fine dude, I love both bands...the last joke is on all these people insulting you=)

  • @SuperSquishface Thanks :D

  • @AgzDaRedz @BnJohansen

HAHA "I'm as punk as fuck" HAHA

  • @BnJohansen

bauhaus is gothic rock, but the damned are gothic punk. theres a slight difference

  • @BnJohansen this aint goth its punk!

  • @lolttyl143 goth came from punk, from these guys and Siouxie :D

  • honestly i like hardcore ounk more but this is still awesome. and i would have a hard tome deciding on the clash or dead kennedys. just sayin.

  • they also one of the best live bands esp if you see them at the Barras in Glasgow

  • someone needs to upload a high rez of this plz!!!

  • too compressed. how about a little quality, cunt?

  • i listened to this before i got married. and i relaxed:-)

  • @serpikris I listened to Pantera, then I got married and all hell broke loose, ahaha.

  • Wow. I like them, but have never seen this video. Keen.

  • hell yeh, the pistols were way overrated, crass were also better imo

  • smashing... :\/

  • great band one of my favorites

  • Great song.

  • He sounds a LOT like the guy from the dictators

  • Dude if you're gonna upload a rare video like this and it's gonna turn out THIS PIXILATED, then why even bother?! It's so damn frustrating trying to find an old rare video on here and the quality is CRAP.

  • they make me want to projectile vomit with happiness

  • title song for seven ages of rock

  • YEAH!

  • this was the first puck rock vid..........filmed entirely in my garage

  • Frickin' wicked track - so much energy. Long live this type of music..

  • Love it. Remember bunking off school with a pocket full of hard nicked dosh to get this from Counterpoint Records in Forest Hill when it came out!
