@Zackr27 Because that way it looks like the riff is more complicated. I never play open strings when I can avoid it while playing to an audience. Plus it just plain feels better.

@flooperduck Totally agree. I prefer 4 fingers/fret intially to help me decode the scale pattern. The later after thousands of repeititions I might start using opens. However, for all learning beginners who know root and scale patterns ditch the opens.

Why would you play 7th fret G string in the begining first measure (of the first riff) when you could play the same note as an open A string?

You play it differently that I do. I think your way is better. I play it on the G and B string closer to the headstock.
