  • 20 people under 25

  • 70's man, these guys had an element of rock to them that appealed to all teen-agers at the time.....

  • I wonder how they came up with a name like "Slave."

  • @HomelessOnline - I don't know. Good question. But it's funny that in the 30 or more years since I've heard of them, the thought of bondage or oppression never entered my mind when I thought of the group.

    good

  • @HomelessOnline I've always wondered that too,..I have no idea. I'm also confused as to why there was a song in the 80s called "Shackles" (Shackles On My Feet). It was considered a fun danceable song that i actually liked. I guess we were just stupid back then, lol!

  • Funk is some of the most creative music there was...is. It had a sprinkling of every genre in it.

  • I really like this song, and it is one of those songs you really never forget , especially when you were a teenager when this song came out

  • Slave was one of those 70's groups that took the funk to another level. Slide is a classic and it represents the music of that decade so well. the groups like Parliament/Funkadelic, Bar-Kays. Cameo, and, the Time were rebelling against that blase' disco shit by bringing the funk back to the forefront. The era was represented by funky dance grooves and sterling musicianship. In fact most of the songs had some kind of killer solo either by the guitar or a horn It was a great decade to party in!

Young people today have missed out on natural talent and style in music. The 70's music has had a lasting effect right into the 21st century.

    What memories!

  • Hot slidding punk ass!!!

  • Hot slidding punk asS!!!

  • Prince was and is a brilliant performer. However he is only ONE of a small number who shaped the decade of the 1980's. That's my point. The '70s presented a unique period in time where American music was SHAPED and ALTERED by a MANY groups and individuals as opposed to only a few. The 50's and 60's had influential performers for sure, but the 70's provided a plethora of talented performers who blasted through any ceilings that may have remained in popular music's short history.

  • Pimp down....

  • Dam....

  • It was artists like Slave, Dazz Band, Curtis Mayfield, Earth Wind and Fire, Rick James, Parliament Funkadelic, Bootsy Collins, Ohio Players and many many others whose music paints a road map of the 1970's. Now, a young cat with a little curiosity can listen to all the beautiful music that came from that decade and get a good picture of what it was like. The 70's kicked the crap out of the 60's (trust me, I was there). The 80's had no soul and the music sucked. The 70's was the best decade ever.

  • @Rabshakeh9 did you ever hear of prince? he made most of his music in the 80s

  • Pure PIMP Bass Line.

  • Man, todays teens and young adults totally missed a HUGE cultural experiece that we enjoyed in the 70's and 80's when great R&B and funk flowed so freely. Even alot of good music came from the U.K. during these decades. Way too much of rap and hip hop is ''music'' that doesn't unite people but instead it' s coast againt coast crap.

  • kiddies, you just don't know what you missed...nowadays you have to LOOK for good music....back in the day, we used to just turn on the radio. It was just that easy. Turn on the radio today & hear the crappiest, synthed-out, autotuned, no singing, soul-less, image-driven syncopated noises from some unknown-last-year-joeblow. I know, I know.... I'm getting older... but boomers in the house, you tell me, don't you think today's music MAKES you turn into your father?... LOL !

  • @btinsley1 you realise that some people turn the radio on today and like what they hear. Actually a lot of people

  • @btinsley1 I tried to thumbs up 20x...but it wouldnt work..it only let me do it once.! But u get my point, agree 100% with what u said!!

  • @btinsley1 ~ Amen, amen, amen.....bring back the days when music was music.....

  • @btinsley1 ....hey do you remember BRASS CONSTRUCTION??!!! HERBIE HANCOCK??!! MANDRILL !!! Yeah.......Yeah!!!! The Great old dayze!!!!!!!!!!

  • @btinsley1

Man fuck you this music is garbage.....

  • @Kaikai9987: same to you heffa !
