  • wait how come he sent you ditl? ive been looking for a good megaman engine, can someone send me one? need help on a projet

  • This almost feels like an entirely new game!

  • hey keep it up man!

  • Well done I can make poses of robot masters but i can't do animation if you want me to design the others standing and intro sprite poses I'll do that for you just get in touch. Check out my custom robot master sprite vid I will be doing more of them.

  • The only thing I can complain about is the laser sound. It gets extremely annoying VERY quickly, espcially if there's a bunch of them going off. I suggest that you change it, or take it out altogether.

  • I am officially impressed! Most of the fan games I've seen are complete utter shit, so it's great to see some actual effort put into a fangame for once. This stage here has got good enemies and even better placement of them, lovely mechanics that make the stage interesting and offer tons of potential to the design, a solid mid-boss, a beautiful tileset. Holy shit! This is fucking awesome sauce!

  • OMG This is absolutly Awesome !!! Great ! Can you me please say which Programm you use ? On Google i didn´t find a Programm.

  • Some of the laser sounds are annoying.

But... A Security System? Wonderful! The most creative stage ever!

    Keep up the good work!

  • When you release this let me know. I'll have my bud Manofonetitle who's a Huge Mega man fan do a run of it for you. Not to mention I'll give it a try out.

  • I love that gimmick with the mirrors and lasers. You've got some really creative ideas, actually!

  • wow, awesome.

  • laser man look like a crayon hah

  • I don't know what Saryakan is talking about, this seems like one of the most legit levels I've ever seen. The stage has it's own puzzle mechanic, perfectly designed custom enemies, a mid-boss with classic fade in intro, damn dude. This stage could have come straight outta Capcom's pocket.

  • The stage kinda feels empty, sterile and lifeless.

Also the gameplay somehow feels... rather slow paced.

Don´t know how/what to improve exactly, but it lacks that feeling that makes the classic Megaman games as awesome as they are. (The same problem had Megaman 7 on the SNES)

  • Now you need to make boss. :)

  • Nice level, but less is more. There are some nice gimmicks and enemies but the huge variations are making the level a bit chaotic, I think it would be better if you use less type of enemies but place them more frequently, better stick with those which are fitting in the robot master's style, so in this one the laser types appearently. Or it could be me, but the first room just didn't win me over with the 3 different enemies lonely walking around on each screen.

  • Any and all persons here are giving opinions and/or advice about how the game should be...

Myself, I am jealous! Your level layout is truly good!

And the art is as well. Highly inspired by MM 9 and 10 would be an understatement haha.

I hope you don't mind one more comment...

I like how every laser has a SFX of it's own but given that there are so many of them firing away constantly the music gets drowned out.

IMHO you should shorten the duration of the laser sounds and/or lower their volume.

  • Incredible! I hadn't thought to see another fangame that soon.

A bit advice for the future.

An 8x8 pixel tile of a graphic can have up to 3+1 colours. ( the +1 and higher are always reservated for the background colour)

The maximum what a NES can handle on screen are 24+8 colours.

12+4 for sprites and 12+4 for background tiles. If you have more then 3 colours in a 8x8 tile, it is no longer true 8-bit, but above.

Keep this limit in mind and you will have an authentic 8-bit game.^^

  • Hey man, would you mind putting together an engine for the game? I've been hunting around with an engine that has a pause menu and screen transitions working for a while now.

  • Wow, very cool man. You've definitely nailed the look and (I'm only assuming based on how everything moved and worked) feel of Mega Man! Nicely done. I would love to see more of what you've created.

  • The design and the details of the mapping is great, the controls looks identical to originals. This looks just like offical megaman game :D. 1 think i was expecting was 1 hit killer lasers. Some areas could get pretty hard tho if you had 1 killer lasers, but megaman2 quickman stage isnt too easy either :P

Anyways really good job making this, it looksa awesome!

  • WOW, its pretty god dam impressive! the boss master seems awesome!

also.. the stage of Laserman is so original! i <3 it

  • I must say that I think this looks very good! I like all the gimmics and hazards in the stage, never thought of the security system myself xD Kudos for that :)

Also some of the bacgound and foreground looks pretty well done I must say ^^ Also the mid-boss look like a pretty good idea as well. But if you want my opinion then maybe you should try to make a second laserman or update his sprites. Since to me they kinda stick out with the plain colorings and the sparkman design.

    Keep this up! :D

  • Great! I'm looking froward to this. :)

  • Impressive!

I must say you took time and effort into this...well done!

  • Looks absolutely tasty for a fan-game!

  • Wow. This looks really good for Game Maker. I really like all the stage gimmicks like the trip-lasers. Looking forward to see what else you can put together.

As you can see, there are plenty of people here willing to help you out with music. Just take your pick. ;)

  • Lol mega man wasted his time

  • I'm actually working on an electric-style stage theme right now, which you are free to use for Laser Man when it's finished.

  • the only problem i have with this is the robot master's name "Laser Man", the name is too overused, i suggest "Photon Man" for a new name, i hope the best for your game :)

  • Probably the best Laserman stage ive seen made yet. good work and good luck with your fangame

  • THERE ARE MANY COMPOSERS.

    THE MUSIC LOBBY.

  • Wow this looks great.

I will keep my eyes on this project ;)

  • Well done. Looks like a stable engine too. I like the mirrors!

As for music, go for HertzDevil! He probably wants to start composing for you right now. :D

  • I DO MUSIC REQUESTS TOO

  • very nice engine and stage design... like the stage tiles....

  • Megaman Unnumbered sounds like a good name

  • I DO MUSIC REQUESTS

  • Wow, 80s Capcom called: they want their production values back.

Very impressive, this could totally pass for an official MM game. I like that you brought the slide back.

  • If you're looking for custom music, may I suggest Kevvviiinnn? He does a lot of custom Megaman-esque compositions.

  • @TheKoopakirby

He's also not taking requests right now, unfortunately.

In any case I'm not going to worry too much about music until I have more of the game completed.

  • awesome !!!!!!

  • May I suggest Mega Man - Unconquered. Since you're fighting 8 yet to be conquered Robot Masters and Mega Man himself is as such.

  • also, are there gonna be other players you can unlock?

  • @2pokepan: I don't currently have any other playable characters planned, but then I'm not going to worry about extras like that until later in development.

As for the enemies, yeah, most of them do have a distinct "laser" theme to them, but then I'm probably going to swap some out for other enemies or change them around.

  • so, almost everyone in laserman's stage fires their lazor...that's gonna be real fun to dodge... (criticism not intended)

  • Cool! So many fan megaman games now, I think if we took a Robot Master from each one, they could fill up a special stage with a "Weapons Archives" boss and it would be bigger than MM10's.

For the name, how about Megaman e? The "e" could be both Euler's number and... well something else.

  • This looks awesome!

    I only have two questions

Will we be able to buy items with bolts like in the MM games, and will we get teh charge shot upgrade or not?

  • @texanfan2777: I have no plans on implementing a shop feature. I'm going for a more "classic" style, where you have to find everything you want in the levels themselves.

There will be a Charge Buster, but not to start with- you'll have to find the adaptor for it in one of the levels (or more, if I decide to go with a "letter" system like Beat in MM5).

  • Ths is just incredible Lars. It's at least as good as an original MM level, if not even better since you manage to create a stage wwith MANY different enemies and traps/ gimmicks (mirror lasers, alarm, giant lasers, miniboss etc.) and which is a lot longer than a normal MM stage. I also like the fact that the progressing increase in difficulty is very well chosen.

Tell me, is every single bit of this hand drawn and self-made (tilesets, enemies etc. except for the music)?

  • @Slit08: Of course. It just wouldn't feel right to just recycle old sprites and tilesets and such, the obvious exception being stuff like items and other minor things that don't need new graphics. The only major thing not custom at the moment is the Title Screen picture, which is just temporary until I can think of something better to put there.

  • Mega Man: Untitled is a great name, keep it lol 8)

  • Awesome Lars!

  • Wow, definitely you have to upload one of these previews in the MKF channel, I understand you're on a break but that doesn't mean you should abandon the forums too lol, I'm sure everyone will love this, seriously this it top tier, the quality is on pair with the original games, creative designs, enemies, good graphics, etc., it's really good, nice job.
