If working with an unperfectly level foundation (be it cement or, in my case I'm taking up old ceramic tile and expect the sub floor to be anything but level!)...does anything need to be done to level the floor out before the padding? Or does the padding kinda make allowances for that?
Do I need to get self-leveling "compound"(?) or do something else?? THANKS!
@pacoblancosmith the padding will only help with a slightly unlevel floor, on this particular
job the floor was very unlevel. We used a self leveling compound made by Ardex to help level the floor. High spots can be gone over with a grinder if need be. If you are taking up ceramic make sure you get the thinset up also. Depressions will feel "spongy" and raised spots will make the wood teeter.
