Johnny used a Mosrite based on the Ventures II model. Those are out of production for decades and have become very rare and extremely expensive. I use a Mosrite copy from Eastwood Guitars.
picked up the CD yesterday for 3 euro, today I started playing "blitzkrieg bob and teenage lobotomy" by watching that there I see where I went wrong on Lobotomy I got blitzkrieg like you there.
man every morning i get i play this whole album with my guitar you know whats cool my mom used to see them in there CBGB's days and one time joey was talking to someone and backed up into my mom and turned around and said iam sorry and once deedee asked my mom for a ciggerete
Awesome! Those were the days that band members mixed with the audience before and after a gig instead of being escorted to their limos by bodyguards lol!
Guitar into Boss ME50 compression 2, level 5; into Marshall MG50DFX dirty channel, gain 4. bass 7, contour 5, treble 7. I post process the sound in Pinnacle Studio+ .
1 Playback speaker is 40 cm away from the camera at an angle and the other I use as a monitor; amp approx 2.5 meter, pointing almost straight to the camera. It's a matter of trial & error.
this fxxxing great!! i see you have the eastwood. are you using their stock pick up or you installed a dimarzio fs-1. i ask beacuse i'm about buying the eastwood and was wondering if their stock pickup is any good... thanks for the great videos!!!
Thanks for your comment. I have indeed the Dimarzio FS-1 installed. The stock pickup is not too bad but I found it pretty noisy and a little unbalanced. I also changed the tuners for Grovers and the roller bridge for a Gibson LP bridge to get a lower action and a better sustain. One advice: try before you buy! I got mine used and the setup was horrific: bowed neck, nut not cut deep enough and intonation way off and I doubt if it was the previous owners fault...
I have a Boss-ME50 but for Ramones I only use the compression function from the Boss (only a little) and the overdrive channel of my Marshall. (gain: 4)
Loco Live is played faster as a whole (too fast maybe?) but -paradoxically- because of that, Johnny basically plays sort of 4th note downstrokes instead of 8th note, which is much easier to do indeed.
Thanks. It's amazing how quick you lose your endurance after 1 week of doing nothing:) It took me 2 days to get the right speed in the downstrokes again. (and I was still sweating like a pig...)
I can get about half way through this album before my hands and arm start cramping up. ;)
