hey. where from canada are you? i live in toronto..im going to japan soon in may...to tokyo first then i don't know... you say meccha..isn't that kansai dialect? when in japan do you live in osaka?
When I was living in Japan, I used to pack my suitcase full of cheese and crisps. And teabags! And a brack (traditional halloween cake! :D). I'm almost too Irish. Oh, and let's not forget deodorant, because the Japanese are very, very bad at that.
I remember buying a GRIP of beef jerky to bring back for my athletes at the climbing gym for their roadtrips... just to have it all confiscated by immigration in Japan at the airport :-(. A good bit for my friend Yuji H. training for a world record ascent of El Capitan in Yosemite. Definitely irked about that. On another note... Vancouver is my dream town. Love Squamish, and of course Whistler. If I were Canadian, I'd already be there. Also, don't sweat the makeup.. you look great w/o!
@phantomhero1994@phantomhero1994 .... you obviously haven't heard a Japanese person speak then or something, her Japanese is very good, but she has a prominent accent.
@terminallyCapriciou8 lol calm down...Her accent is good enough to pass as a pro to someone that doesn't know the japanese accent(me) 0.0 I'm checking this vid out cause I was trying to learn some japanese seeing as my college is letting me study there for a year
i am curious to know how you learned japanese enough to study abroad in japan...you sound so fluent in it!!! did they offer languages like japanese at your high school or did you learn another way?
i would bring....well, i kind of already eat only japanese food xD and m from the u.s. haha! but i think i would have to take a crap load of anything reese's xD
I'm happy to say that I am leaving my country soon and i'm just taking my clothes and some books that i might need regarding my profession. :) I like to think of the country i'm going to live in as my real home, so i'm not really attached to the country i was born in. :)
Im Italian I would take....Mountain Dew Code Red! Since its my favorite. I might be stationed in Japan soon since im in the US Air Force so I might take a few with me. (I know the fact that im Italian has nothing to do with what im bring im just following suit with the last two posts) ;D
When listening to you and your japanese accent along with your english...when you first learned Japanese how did you gain an accent. Because when i try to speak, i sound like in my ''english voice''. And a bit acward. Like i'm saying. "Wa-ta-shi-wa An-ba des." It doesn't sound like a japanese person at all!
It's kind of strange hearing Japanese with good English mixed in. I always expect the accent (or as some call it, the notorious 'Engrish'). That goes to say you're good at Japanese, though!
If I was leaving my country? Hmmm... Strawberries, vodka, Karl Marx's books, a guide to recruiting cheap labour and at least 250 types of sausage... I... am... POLISH!
Did you grow up in the Lower Mainland? I live there, it's really beautiful and a great place to live, but I still hope to go to Japan for University :)
I find this funny because I live near the Canadian border, and work at a supermarket. We have Canadians come down and buy all kinds of things they can't find in Canada. I always know because it's like six of one thing, or twelve, or like, literally 50. And I'm like " So your from Canada, huh?" and they look at me surprised and say " How did you know? " Cracks me up. It makes me feel like an exotic country instead of just being the neighbor to the south.
i would take a picture of my family so wherever I'd go in my future adventures, I'll have the memories of my past, good and bad, to give me the motivation to strive and continue to live on!!
@YoungKoolness17 There are a variety of accents in Canada, but generally speaking Canadian accents are closer to American ones than British ones. This is because most of the English that conquered Canada and established the first English speaking settlements (outside Newfoundland where people sound more Irish) came from the 13 colonies before the revolution. Many more came as refugees after the revolution. Of course, many European Brits came later but the early Anglos had a big impact on accent.
they are nice, but name brands?? Call me cheap but they cost A LOT MORE in Canada, especially things like koolaid and fruitloops because they are american. I freaked the first time I bought them in Canada, I guess they are imported? They jacked the price up for like 30% in Canada.
I like that beer. I am in Van and I don't know we have it here. Trying it tomorrow!
I'm from California so I HAVE to have tortilla and taco seasoning whenever I stay in Japan for a prolonged period of time! Also, I've found that sweet cereals are well received in Japan because of their uniqueness. Whenever I go to Canada, I stock up on maple nougat. LOVE those.
Wow! How did you learn Japanese so good? How long do you live in Japan?? I just want to learn it! And you are so cute ^^ No, really, how? I am Russian, but i live in Latvia, so i feel weird most of the time.. Answer please)
@akusuette she lives in Japan... I think 5 years if I read comments right... I'm trying too. It's hard when there are no teachers or books in the place like Lithuania :\
We just got the crazy cores Skittles in the UK, but I really wanna try those Big Foot sweets!! And if I was leaving the UK... well, I'd have to take a suitcase full of Cadbury's and Mars and Galaxy chocolates!! Oh and Milka Chocolate! Can't forget that!
@yvelii oops, I just sawt the last video where you tell you are student ^_^ I'm french (this explain my english :P) and I want to learn Japanese and maby leave on Japan, I'm sure I will love your channel !
Cranberry juice and blueberry wine, mineral water named after the Iceberg, bottling that sounds like a glacier. Another sugar maple good as well HERITAGE YAMASKA.
Everytime I leave my country i bring anything regional, national cakes or sweets, Home-made or fresh Artesian gourmet quality foods. No dead, processed foods!! Bringing unhealthy foods with so much food preservatives & colorings are not good gifts in my opinion! =)
Another thing i like to bring as a present are "Lebkuchen", a franconian speciality of cookies for advent and christmas.
To Japan i brought "Sauerkraut with Bratwurst" from Nuremberg. You can get it at the most german airports after the security check in a package that is pre-cooked and just has to be heated, but i think this is just made for tourists because i have it never seen it in german supermarkets
I also brought from souvenir stickers. One of the biggest hits was the little candies though. I brought maple candies from Montreal and Salt water taffy from Nova Scotia. Then the next biggest hit was the little sets of pencils and erasers covered in Canadian-ness lol. Basically the erasers were little red maple leaves and the pencils had the flag all over it. But they were the biggest hits because they were yummy or useful. Hope this helps.
Well since i just left my home country (also Canada) and moved to Japan I brought many things. I brought the TY beanie baby for Canada. He's a polar bear holding a red maple left cushion. I visited Montreal and Ottawa before I left (I'm from Nova Scotia) so I brought postcards from all over Canada. As well as Canadian flags ... I brought sew on patches, flags, t-shirts, magnets galore... as well as some pins and some souvenir pencils of Canada from "The Great Canadian Dollar Store".
oh so sweet. I also Miss Kraft dinner, I was able to order some online to deliver in Switzerland. I had order also Apple Jack and Raisin Bran Cereals. :))
I would take some corn flour so I could make arepas (it's a tipical venezuelan dish, like a corn bread that you fill with whatever you want...it is AWESOME xD)
I would take some corn flour so I could make arepas (it's a tipical venezuelan dish, like a corn bread that you fill with whatever you want...is AWESOME xD)
I'm going to Japan in a few weeks and as a proud Aussie, I'll take some Caramello Koalas, Vegemite (but thats for me - no-one else likes it over there) Cadbury chocolate, Aussie macadamias plus some mini toy animals - koalas, kangaroos, platypus (or is it platypii?) echidnas, cockatoos and dingoes for the kids.
I would bring mac n cheese too! When my friend had gone to Turkey, she brought little boxes of cereal, and some other things like that, because they make most of their meals from fresh stuff, not really a lot of processed stuff there, only like candies, sodas, and stuff like that.
I would most probably bring food too. Most of them will be dry food or sweets :D Nice video video between! You make me wanna go Japan more!!!! Ikitai na......
If I were to leave my country what would I take with me? Hmm... I don't know. Maybe cereal and candy as fruits get rotten quick. I don't know honestly. I would hope they'd have ingredients to make things like flan, arroz con leche (rice pudding), burritos, and pancakes/flapjacks, even if fron scratch.

I would take some corn flour so I could make arepas (it's a tipical venezuelan dish, like a corn bread that you fill with whatever you want...it is AWESOME xD)

When I visited my fiance during Obon, I brought him seven packages of Kraft mac 'n' cheese. XD He loves the stuff.
