  • And just so you know, your hair is prettier than any of those relaxed bitches' hair will be! Hence the "hey your hair is so long, or you have so much!"

  • Thank you! Lmao this is hilarious. Like, how do they expect your hair to be longer if you relaxed it? Um, hello?! Relaxing your hair will make it look longer BUT it will break off and then cause it to get shorter or stop retaining length! Dum asses.

  • This is an old video, but the content is still relevant....at least to me. I've been natural now less than a year and usually wear twists and bantu knot outs. I get called 'ghetto' so often, I don't pay attention anymore. I've even had people ask me if they can flat iron my hair for me...like I'm too lazy to do it myself OR like I want to flat iron it...which I don't. You are so right...people need to mind their own business.

  • So glad you made this video. I recently went natural and I'm already getting unsolicited advice. I had been getting relaxers all my life & recently decided that it didn't seem healthy for my hair or scalp. I just don't understand why people have such a big problem with me wearing my hair the way it grows out of my head. I think lots of blk wmn r just conditioned to believe something is "wrong" w/ their natural hair. Really needed to hear this perspective. Thanx so much.

  • Ahh.. welcome to the sisterhood of natural hair! Unsolicited advice - " You would look so pretty if ...." " Your hair would be so long if ....." " You should loc your hair" - is part of the membership. At this point I grin, SMH, and move along (can't reason with some people).

  • Ok, I'm confused...not trying to be mean, but you seem to be contradicting yourself quite a bit. You said that no one complained about your hair but then in the other video you said people made so many negative comment about it- calling you names, etc. Then you said you've yet to see someone strong arm a person into changing their hair but in the other video you said they made the other black girls perm their hair but you just weren't going to do it. Which one should we believe?

  • @thisheadofmine Wow... there isn't a contradiction, you just didn't pay attention. It's not up to me what you "should" believe, I'm not selling you anything.

Negative comments were made at BCT, which I mentioned in the first video. Nobody complained at OCS, which I mentioned in a video after that. The videos were about two separate experiences. And I had yet to see anyone "strong arm anyone" into changing heir hair in the regular army outside of training environment I had been in.

  • ZOMG U R my inspiration... + a few other sistas. I've feared the process of going natural since last year, & now I'm brave enuff 2 actually prepare. My hair looks as good as your hair when it's straight, but lately I noticed how damaged my hair is. I can't do a thing to my own hair even after it's straightened!!

  • Love It! Love It! Love It!! You're gorgeous!! The hair is gorgeous girl!! GORGEOUS!!! Damn people!!! Leave her alone about her hair!!

Those who have a problem with it... You heard her!! She has something you can kiss!!!

A lot of our people aren't ready still in 2010! Its a shame.

  • @MsSweetHeart23 thanks

  • @MsSweetHeart23 Dreads are definitely not allowed in the Army. Now if someone gets away with it, then they do but its against regs.

  • @al00fone thats not right. some people cant comb their natural hair and have no choice but to get locs.

  • @kingdomoffspring6 Why, because they don't have arms?

  • @al00fone lol no i mean people with very thick hair. i have seen people who absolutely have no choice but to get locs because of their hair texture. for them its either locs or a perm.

  • @kingdomoffspring6 by thick i actually mean very coarse hair like 4e

  • @kingdomoffspring6 very coarse hair doesn't HAVE to be dreadlocked. Many people with that kind of hair just crop it short, or get braids with/without extensions. Definitely they aren't walking around in a ponytail or a big fro but dreadlocks definitely isn't their only option. I have also seen mini twists done too.

  • @al00fone I have a question about the army and locs. check your inbox please.

  • o yeah they also call me bald-headed and say that my hair is too nappy and im gonna look ugly. and my grandmother actually keeps telling i need a perm or a hot comb, but im sick of burning my scalp just for straight hair.

  • i understand exactly what ur saying. i come from a very ignorant and ghetto family. my hair looks like yours and they say i should perm it. i dont get why black people are afraid of the natural texture of our hair.

  • happy to see you again, like your videos and i like your hair too, me try to come back to natural, make 8 months i did not relax... thanks for sharing, kisses

  • Good vid:-) You know how people can be, dont let it bother you. Ignorance isnt bliss its sad.

  • I love your videos! :)

  • lol...that's so funny. Love the vids love you and love the hair! You would think people would have something more important to worry about than your hair. Completely random especially if you didn't ask for it.

  • I'm only playing devils advocate ... I also don't approve of unsolicited advice. With that being said, on your page, the info section reads, "Im always up for suggestions, tips, hints, questions, comments and/or concerns." which means that if, on youtube, a person gave you a "suggestion" or "tip" about your hair, you essentially asked for it. I don't think you meant "suggestions" and "tips" about your hair, but you did not specify. Just a thought... :)

  • @leeshyeternally the point of the video goes beyond the title. I am talking about when the suggestions (which aren't really suggestions, they're more liker orders and commands, telling me I HAVE to do something just because I'm natural) come from people who have zero knowledge/experience with my hair.

Im not going to change the info page because I am up for all of that as long as people know what they're talking about and its a suggestion and not a mandate based on their own inexperience.

  • LOL naw girl there's no HEB in north texas. when i moved down to austin i was like wtf is "heb"? lol

  • @spicyeve omg you were missing out! I miss that storeeeee...

  • Iol, I freaking love Whataburger - its the only redeeming thing about living in the south.

  • @Elektrix0 yea that ketchup... man that's the best ketchup ever. It's like Heinz with crack

  • @al00fone

    ahaha, agree.

  • @Mrzmuse1408 when are you renewing your glasses prescription?

BTW my hair looks different in every vid I make, since its either wet or straight or styled with different products, etc. So this comment is useless. I'm glad someone marked it as spam.

  • @al00fone wow...

  • Your hair is BEAUTIFUL!!

  • @iamsillywarm Thanks!

  • I am glad that your are a strong women and stand your ground because a lot of ppl can be mean and nasty! But keep it up and don't let them get to you! Your hair is beautiful!

  • @Jewlz4life thanks, moreso patient than strong though, I have to just hold it in because folks don't understand

  • I feel you all the way. I have natural hair as well, and all of a sudden, everybody and their mama is a natural hair expert. lol. I say forget the haters, and do you!

  • @071803love the funny thing is I have YET to hear a natural forcing solutions on me :)

  • girl your hair is your's, i love it.. i love mine as it is growing..

i like your strength.. i would not get a relaxer again either, i had long relaxed hair, but now i love my short, growing fro.. stay kool xx

  • @rndiphe yea my hair was long too, I think my family believes it was only long because it was relaxed, yet my hair is longer now (and grew out faster) without it

  • what is the music? sounds very very nice. and your hair is ultra nice, too. the reason ppl give unso advice is because they (for obvious reasons) have hair problems themselves.. it's laughable that they even try to tell you what to do. They are probably the people who want to go natural in the first place.

  • @schwarzkopf79 Its The Used... Lunacy Fringe

  • agreed. mind your own ppl..x

  • um huh! Aint NoBodys Business. SMH... Keep doin you Sis, your hair is BeaUtiful.

  • As long as you know AR 670-1 No one can say a damn thing to you! Good to see you.

  • You are right on target with the unsolicited advice. No one ever gave me hair tips that I didn't ask for when I was relaxed. Now that I'm natural, I can't seem to get away from them.

  • No El Pollo Loco! I miss that restaurant!
