Theres no such thing as a GT cobra and the last cobra ford ever made was the 2004 svt cobra...there was talk of making a cobra in the 2005+ body style but it hasnt been done yet

Chevy is making a lot of improvements to the ZO6 to were it's almost equal ZR1. The Skyline is quick because of the AWD and the launch control but it still comes short in the drag against the Z06. My friend has a Z06 and he raced a 2012 GTR and he said in the end it really comes down to the driver.

I'm a little curious about the supposed GT500... There was no high-pitched distinctive supercharger whine and the only thing GT500 about it were the badges. I'm not so sure anyone would downgrade their shelby to look like a GT but I'm thinking that's all it was. Whatever it is, those are nice times if that's a quarter and not an eighth (can't tell right away).

Why do people always pull the "Imports are better on a track" card, when all imports do is zip around on the highway at 40mph rolls?
I'd understand that old 60's road boats are good for drag only, but I'm pretty sure most newer muscle cars have just as good a chance on a circuit as the import does, because when you think about it- an eclipse or integra isn't exactly a track car...

While the newer muscle cars have been making improvements on suspension I feel they still come short compared to imports. I feel Ford has been making the most improvements to the Mustang, being compared to an M3 is impressive. While Tegs/Eclipses aren't track cars Evos/STi's are.

its not always about skill even tho properly timed shifts while you are constantly trying to floor it takes a bit more skill in a high torque or heavily turbod car than people think, just saying. Driving on a track takes a different kind of a skill, and it require many other skills than drag but I don't think you should underestimate the power of pro drag racers because they can probably shift 10x better than you or I. just my opinion tho.
@PapaPanda512 S197s handle quite well and you'd be able to take that WRX on track. However that WRX would be better for rally because it is AWD. Depends on what track you're talking about. I think AWD wouldn't be desirable for hard surface unless you really need all that much grip on the track.
Anywho we aren't talkin Camaros here, everyone knows GM flunked the course on how to make a proper all independent suspension sports car on that one.

@nickiskewl08 Congratulations on beating the odds. Actually, the head gasket issues are mostly limited to Subarus built in the small timeframe of the past 10 or so years. Subaru is one of the worst car manufacturers there is. I have a theory that the more competent a car is, the more ambivalent people feel about it (just look at say, the prior gen Honda Accord), but the more defective and poorly designed a car is, the more affection it draws.
Coming from a modded WRX owner, and someone whos helped build a 600rwhp 02 mustang gt, I can honestly say to all mustang owners, "I dont mind losing to you on a little drag race or streetlight (which still doesnt happen much) because I know the moment we arent on perfect, dry road (i.e. mud, snow, rain) you wont last a second against the awesomeness that is AWD
i don't know which one i would rather have. the mustang has it in looks and strait line but the sti has it in handling and price. but the sound of the v8 would probley do it for me
@infamousGSR Actually, it does not. A stock STi and a stock 1996 cobra are an even match. Both run (typically) mid 13s by average drivers. Both have run low 13s with good drivers. A 2003 cobra with an average driver will go 12.90s easy. That's faster than an STi in great hands. A stock 2007+ GT500 will go 12.60-12.70 in average hands. GT500s have also gone 12.20s stone stock. STi hasn't. Don't get me wrong, I like the STi, but it's not the fastest straight line car ever.

Booth cars are awesome. This is a tuned STI, a factory one could run only about 13.5, and this version is 1 seconds better. (It could be around 400 hp I think) but the Mustang must be tuned as well, becouse the 11.6 time is a lot better than a factory one could have done.
The STI hasn't got it's wing to reduce the wind resistance.
Believe me to sit in a car, what makes 12.5 in 1/4 mile, is like having a horse bunch on your chest, it isn't slow at all.
I don't think anyone would dispute that the STI is a fast car, but aren't fast cars suppose to look sleek? Subaru has failed miserably in that department. Why spend all that money just to say your car is fast? Yeah it's fast, but it looks like something that should be competing with a damn corola rather than another sports car.

I really haven't been a huge Mustang fan just because they're so common, but I always liked the Fox Body Mustangs. The new Boss 302 is amazing, and so is the Roush. Also the DOHC V6 is pretty awesome.

@rallypros One of mu colleagues at work drives an STI and I´ve actually driven it. The sound of the supercharged boxer engine is average, but at least for me it can never compete with the sound of a dual-exhaust V-8. Take the new 5.0 from FORD for example. Stock sounds awsome. With aftermarket exhaust modification it really is music to the ears. And it really is not offensive to the neighbors.

its not always about skill even tho properly timed shifts while you are constantly trying to floor it takes a bit more skill in a high torque or heavily turbod car than people think, just saying. Driving on a track takes a different kind of a skill, and it require many other skills than drag but I don't think you should underestimate the power of pro drag racers because they can probably shift 10x better than you or I. just my opinion tho.

@PapaPanda512 S197s handle quite well and you'd be able to take that WRX on track. However that WRX would be better for rally because it is AWD. Depends on what track you're talking about. I think AWD wouldn't be desirable for hard surface unless you really need all that much grip on the track.
Anywho we aren't talkin Camaros here, everyone knows GM flunked the course on how to make a proper all independent suspension sports car on that one.

@nickiskewl08 Congratulations on beating the odds. Actually, the head gasket issues are mostly limited to Subarus built in the small timeframe of the past 10 or so years. Subaru is one of the worst car manufacturers there is. I have a theory that the more competent a car is, the more ambivalent people feel about it (just look at say, the prior gen Honda Accord), but the more defective and poorly designed a car is, the more affection it draws.

@infamousGSR Actually, it does not. A stock STi and a stock 1996 cobra are an even match. Both run (typically) mid 13s by average drivers. Both have run low 13s with good drivers. A 2003 cobra with an average driver will go 12.90s easy. That's faster than an STi in great hands. A stock 2007+ GT500 will go 12.60-12.70 in average hands. GT500s have also gone 12.20s stone stock. STi hasn't. Don't get me wrong, I like the STi, but it's not the fastest straight line car ever.

Booth cars are awesome. This is a tuned STI, a factory one could run only about 13.5, and this version is 1 seconds better. (It could be around 400 hp I think) but the Mustang must be tuned as well, becouse the 11.6 time is a lot better than a factory one could have done.
The STI hasn't got it's wing to reduce the wind resistance.
Believe me to sit in a car, what makes 12.5 in 1/4 mile, is like having a horse bunch on your chest, it isn't slow at all.

I don't think anyone would dispute that the STI is a fast car, but aren't fast cars suppose to look sleek? Subaru has failed miserably in that department. Why spend all that money just to say your car is fast? Yeah it's fast, but it looks like something that should be competing with a damn corola rather than another sports car.

The sound of the supercharged boxer engine is average, but at least for me it can never compete with the sound of a dual-exhaust V-8. Take the new 5.0 from FORD for example. Stock sounds awsome. With aftermarket exhaust modification it really is music to the ears. And it really is not offensive to the neighbors.

@msuh08 Pretty sure it's not a Shelby GT 500, it's probably just a Shelby GT. You couldn't hear a blower at all so more than likely it's just a Shelby GT (Shelby's lightly modded GT)
