I do not like the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" series.  Their cartoons always had them getting kidnapped. I don't even like the Chipettes. Their songs sound like chipmunks on steroids. I know they have been around a longer time than the original, but I don't like them.

I remember when the original "The Alvin Show" chipmunks from the early 1960s. I can't find a boxed set of them. Simon was tall and had a deep voice. Theodore was medium-sized and fat with the highest voice. Alvin was the smallest. They had three short cartoons. The 1st was just everyday life of mischief. The 2nd was without them but featured the inventor, Clyde Crashcup and his assistant, Leonardo (my favorite was when Clyde invented the wife). And the 3rd is where they sang popular songs.
