I think I like this version better then the one on the Fallen album. Don't get me wrong, both versions are great, and this has always been my favorite song long before today when I discovered this... amazing-ness.

Honestly I couldn't care less about their genre. Does it matter? They're an odd mix of electronic, metal, rock, opera, classical and some pop influences too ... so what does that make them?

I couldn't care less what genre they are, they are what they are. Why try to put them in a box? If they're metal, then they're just this one thing, and if they're rock, they're limited to certain instruments ... why categorize? They're Evanescence. Let's just leave it at that ;)

@Altezzaify Ben left in 2003. But Terry replaced him and it's been a long while since their last album, but their new album, self titled 'Evanescence' is out this October. Their single is already out. The album has a very different sound apparently, but it's still Evanescence.

@mizushadow well that may play a part, but Amy said that music evolves and they had to take time to really get "into the right creative space" ... yeah the band is different people, but it's still very Evanescence. The band has mostly the same people as it had for 'The Open Door' as it does for their new album, but it's still got quite a different sound, it's just them exploring and going beyond their comfort zone, trying new things, new styles.

It'll bring you to a page with downloads for all their pre-Fallen stuff. "Bring Me to Life" is in the Demo CD section. Download just this song by right-clicking and selecting "save target as" or get all the demos by selecting "DemoCD_MP3" under the track listing. Hope it works for ya!! Enjoy!! :D

Actually, both Evanescence and Linkin Park were recording in the same studio at the time, so Mike was offered the part. However, because they were busy recording Meteora, he declined, and Paul McCoy got to do it.

It wasn't Linkin Park, it was Paul McCoy from 12 Stones.

The "Fallen" album was recorded in the same studio Linkin Park recorded Meteora or whatever and that rapper guy from the band was supposed to be featured for the song, but in the end it was McCoy.
