  • Our school's orchestra played this for UIL and the school's band is playing this for their spring concert. I love this piece.

  • Any alto clarinet players here?

  • @nekochan706 Yes there were, but Ibelieved that we had only 1 in our band at the time.

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE! THANK YOU SOO MUCH! i listen to this everyday cause our band id playing! a middle school band! thanks, for uploading a slower version, i like it better slow. (sounds better)

  • Dude, we play it slower too, it's crazy, it seems like everyone plays it fast.

  • @Axalara Yeah. it's really easy on clarinet.

  • 'I guess Fai likes me...' LOL his face XD

  • This piece sounds good, the clarinet sounds too narrow sounding tho, beyond that, great piece.

The Alto and Tenor Sax Solo at the beginning is nice.

  • Hey just curious is there any keyboard parts for this like the marimba or anything like that?

  • @Not that I'm aware of. We were straight Brass, Woodwind, and basic percussion with tamborine

  • @dart20918 I confirm that there is none.

  • @dart20918 actually the piece we have has a huge part of percussion in it.

  • this is a hard piece. were playing it in my band right now...6/8 time is confusing..

  • the marching band im in played this. we won championships. memories <3

  • No... Not at all. I play Tuba and Clarinet. Sure, when it get's higher with the clarinet, jumping around the fingerings for high E and above get's difficult; But just saying "3valves isn't hard." is kinda wrong. Seeing we actually have to do stuff to change from note to note instead of just changing a fingering. :X

  • That. Was god fully slow. But it sounded good regardless. Be nice, it's not that easy to play the tuba, as say the clarinet.

  • Clarinet is Much harder than tuba. Dude the fingerings are insane. especially when it comes to hard songs. We need 9 fingers you only need 3 And sometimes 4.

  • @kickasstaco the reason its harder on tuba is because valves take a lot longer time to push down then keys. Buzzing on a mouthpiece requires many different apertures, than a reed does. Tuba buzzing is especially difficult since your lips are buzzing more loosely than any other instrument. Also if you have trouble with clarinet fingerings then you probably don't play it to well because fingerings usually come naturally. That is the reason wood winds usually play faster parts and brass plays slow.

  • I can play tuba. its easier for me than clarinet. but thats just me. and yeah because the clarinet parts are much faster. thats the thing. sooo. with a piece for clarinet being super fast and a slow piece for tuba. I say there about equal. it just depends on what skill you have

  • @kickasstaco you be right. I play Both, and I'm all state level for both. Both have there key spots which makes them more difficult. But in the long run, Tuba is a real pain in the ass to get, and for some people it's just not possible. Like a fat person on an oboe.

  • Lol..

my highschool band has/had a really fat person on oboe.

  • tuba doesn't know how to play in time or something? wtf

there was this girl in my wind ensemble..she only got in it coz she bitched and complained so much..i played tuba for a month (orignially baritone) and i was better than her

why is it that when tuba players suck, THEY SUCK!!!

  • Holy god your playing it so slow at least keep it together... and the intonation is ghastly

  • no actually i checked its tenor

  • If you are asking who played the solo in that recording, it was an alto (I know because we had to compromise most of the parts that year). But I'm pretty sure it should have been a tenor.

  • its supposed to be an alto solo

  • picc solo at the end was the best i've heard it played so far...

  • alto or tenor solo

  • alto

  • actually its written on both parts and can be played by either.

  • um wow you guys went really slow and the clarinets are really sharp

  • i could have sight read the tuba part better in my sleep. with one lung collapsed. and on a crappy bach 18 mouthpeice instead of my parentucci 48

  • who's stopping you? just becasue you're supposedly really good at tuba doesn't give you the right to insult this tuba player.

  • Um.. tuba man... which isn't that great anyways.... I wouldn't get such a big head because when someone goes "I'm better than him at the tuba" everyone else just points and laughs, kinda like what I am doing now. LOL

  • Love the piccolo solo at the end!

  • sasa's band beasted this song first time!

    FIRST TIME THROUGH

  • and by the way...

that tuba player is just awful........

  • just to let you know, we had three tuba players at that time. And I was stuck with both solos at the last minute because the person that usually played them got sick.

  • I play tuba in the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Wind Symphony, and i'm not gonna lie....

    that group is a beast.

we sight read that piece faster.

includiing the song of the blacksmith.

and it sounded amazing the first time we played it.

i love that group because we play at almost the same quality as the Dallas Wind Symphony, an each year, we have a concert with them.

    it's amazing.

  • Omg the sound is great yeah its slow but who cares it sounds heavanly my school is learning to play this i love it remeinds me of a leperchaun but its to repettive that makes me bored when playing XD

  • Great job on the piece, but I do agree it is a little too slow. Still good, but would be better at tempo.

  • Too slow!

  • Hey, give my band some credit, my school was only three years old at the time and we only had a handful of seniors. And also we could only record this at our UIL concert with the entire Second Suite in F Major, B.B. and C.F, and Irish Tunes on the County Derry.

If you want to talk about a torturous concert selection, that would be one of them.

  • our marching band played this at our indoor concert...yall did a great job

  • i dunno about the AMV ((i make 'em too, i have to be critical))

but this is the best recording of fantasia i've heard, thanks

  • Thanks. That was actually my band's recording at UIL (our big competition during concert season).

But yeah... I basically just threw random crap on it to make one of those out-of-whack videos that would hopefully lighten up anyone's day... So I'm not too heartbroken if you think that the AMV is absolute crap... But the recording was undeniably great. (especially that tuba solo at the end (...that just so happens to be me!!!)) lol

  • Really, tuba solo, thats awesome!

my band played it to, and the flute player couldent stop laughing the first few times during the lead up to the high flute notes+trill

    its a really fun song

  • yeah... it's really fun for me when I take my music and drop it down to petal-tone runs! Especially when we do those runs that sorta go up chromatically! (And the band director wasn't all that warm and fuzzy when he found out that I was playing it that way... But hey, it sounded great from where I played it!)

  • Transposing is fun xD

my band director would kill anyone if we did that!

i play clarinet so i always have the high voices, and when we try to play low all hell breaks loose!

    our director is no-nonsense

  • o man memories of having so many problems with the tuba solo myself, that high G was pissing me off, and you took that down an octave you jerk(im just jealous)
