  • jordan es el mejor

    jordan is got

  • Michael Jordan... one of the biggest ball hogs in basketball, gets most of his points from the free throw line. and that's only because the refs baby him because his name is "michael jordan" Larry Bird... one of the most unselfish basketball players ever and still averaged many points a game. Michael jordan... overrated .

  • Jordan vs Bird, Ainge, and Walton... pretty much the whole celtics lol

  • Who wound up winning this game?

  • @MrVegiita bulls

  • They stopped it at 20:24 because jordan lost lol

  • @liveamovie lol dude Im reading your comments and absolutely laughing right now. The only thing Bird and Magic had over 80's MJ were that they were on better teams. Jordan played with no one the calibre of Kareem or McHale. Pippen was on the bench when he first got to Chicago. And you say MJ never won without Phil, Magic never won without Kareem either so kill that bullshit. You either have to be a huge Laker or Celtic homer to say half the shit you do. If Mike had the 96 Bulls he'd kill Bird.

  • Basketball back then looked boring as shit...

  • @nechikens trolling trolling trolling!

  • @nechikens Your mind is slow and disorganized

  • @nechikens your mom must have dropped you when you were a baby

  • Larry Bird was better

  • @3millman At plugging your dad's ass maybe?

  • Thanks.

  • I understand the bulls lost that game if at the end we have to watch how great MJ in authors' opinion?

  • SICK hesitation move at 12:58!

  • 7 people can't guard MJ.....

  • 23:02

  • 6:04 ...wha'ts Jim Carrey doing on the Boston Celtics?

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!! FINALLY I GE TO RELIVE THIS GAME ALL OVER AGAIN. ME AND MOM WATCHING THIS GAME THE DAY IT AIRED. THANK YOU A TON!!!!

  • his is Larry in his prime and Jordan in his second season. This is a championship Celtics team and a so-so Bulls team. You can see the potential in Jordan though. He carried that team. Look at the way he burried the fould shots with no time on the clock to force overtime. He was always tough under pressure. This was the Magic and Bird era though.

By the way, did anyone catch the Tim Tebow reference at 4:48? I guess he used to call plays at basketball games...

  • This is when the NBA begin to change and MJ got about 20 phantom foul calls a game in the playoffs. The sad thing is he was a great player and didn't need all that. It was nike and gatorade trying to build the next superstar. Basketball has never seemed real ever since, it's just a homogonized, bland, cookie cutter product. This is just my $0.02.

  • The difference between Bird and Jordan....Jordan had to score to control the game...bird did not.

  • @hazmatone1 Jordan grew out of that as a player, but I mean that IS Larry Bird

  • @hazmatone1 Jordan in his prime> Bird in his prime.

  • @hazmatone1 Also, Bird won championships during the toughest period in NBA history (80s) and Jordan did not.

  • @hrivethead What makes it the toughest period?

  • @hrivethead Dude you're old, MJ won 2 sets of 3 peats which is impossible in any era of the game, but he still did it.

  • @hazmatone1 Nah, MJ did everything imaginable to win games. The difference between Jordan and Bird: Jordan could get to and above the rim whenever he wanted Bird had to hit jumpers which don't always fall even if you are Larry Fuckin Bird.

  • @FrankensteinsTV Athleticism only gets a player so far. Sure, Jordan could do all that you say. Bird was more than just a shooter to win the game. Bird could win it on all accounts, drives in the lane, passing, shooting, defense etc...just like Jordan did.

  • gervin and jordon on the same team??

  • micheal is the best.... michael es el mejor

  • @molibu Okay. Now just imagine if Bird had the athleticism of Jordan, combined with his shooting and game IQ. He was deadly enough with what he had, if he was far more athletic, it was a wrap.

  • oh this the the bullshit 2OT game where it never shoulda went to @Ot because bullshit call on mchale to not have celtics win in regulation, someoine post jordans shot numbers and free thrwos buz half ft are shots too

  • 1500 warding off jordan shoves defeender with off hand wtf

  • 1320 another bullshti call this time on walton

  • 1030 bullshit call on ainge

  • 846 holy shit bird

  • jordan coddled by nba refs cuz of amrketing, 800 not foul on walton jordan initiates this is why jordan did better than doctor who had to make those shots without bailouts

  • Crazy, it was only his 2nd year when he did this.

  • Bird vs Jordan!! Why can't we have this today??

  • Lebron traveled.

  • Comment removed

  • you can tell who's crowd this is XD

  • lol I love how you can hear the commentators talking about MJ early on in a condescending tone.. ahh you can tell this was well before he achieved his respect as the GOAT.

  • did he say "Tebow" at 4:49?!?

  • Very Nice Vid....Thanks for the upload!...MJ GOAT!!!!!

  • For Jordan to do this to this team in this building is legendary. Bird won and he was a great player on a great team. But what Jordan did is phenomenal.

  • Bird looks like Nowitizki backwards 08.56 Thumbs Up if u think so

  • Larry Legend played 56 minutes in this game and put up 36 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists, and came away with the win. People say Jordan played with nobody on that team. You kidding me. He had George Gervin, Charles Oakley, John Paxson, and Orlando Woolridge on his team. He wasn't playing with a bunch of 3rd stringers. Bird faced Jordan twice in the playoffs, and both times Larry Legend swept Jordan out of the playoffs. That's getting owned.

  • @BeatLAAgain orlando woolridge shot 9-27 in this game, and .403% in this series. gervin wasnt even half the player he was in his prime when he played with jordan, played a grand total of 11 minutes in this playoff series, and finished with zero points. charles oakley was a rookie here. this supporting cast bird had is widely considered the best of all time. john paxson was indeed a 3rd stringer, and a feeder

  • Larry Bird and Magic Johnson saved the NBA. Celtics vs Lakers without that rivalry the league SUCKED in the 80's. Go watch the video titled ....When the game was ours.

  • Great video but it would have been nice to see the end of the game I have done seen it but it would have made the video better

  • When Tommy Heinsohn is marking out for you...and you're not a Celtic, you have done something epic. Those two "Oh Boy"'s were the equivalent of the guy from Scanners having his head explode.

  • miss the time where players had to build their own reputation and acquire our respect by giving 100% on the court every night. Players like Kobe,Jordan,Bird,Magic,Kareem,Shaq,Big O,Wilt ... I born in 1994 but even I know that today media has take over the game . That's a shame!

  • @CkBalantines 1993*

  • fux jordan da C's got da dub

  • I know Jordan played an awesome game here and he was awesome I'm not knocking him. But the refs gave him a ton of those points. Some of those calls were just terrible, the call on McHale at the end was complete nonsense. Makes you wonder whether the refs were up to something....

  • I love how Larry Bird wasn't trying to play into that "white hope" bullshit. In the very beginning of this clip its says he is the best all around player in the NBA. Bird was good...REALLY good but to put him on a pedestal like that is frikken retarded. They are ALL good thats why they made it to the NBA, and some are more refined and flashier than others.

  • 7:44 Owned

  • The 80s <3

  • This vid is AWSOME!!! Cut up some more this way, I like how you did this. and the quality is great too!

  • 49 pts and 63 pts in back-to-back playoff games against the best team in the NBA. MJ was the baddest mofo to ever lace them up.

  • やっぱ、ジョーダンはカッケぇ〜。

  • 22:04 jumpman logo...

  • What was the name of that song at the end?

  • thanks for blowing out my ear drums at the end

  • imagine if bird was as athletic as michael

  • How did you get footage this CLEAN tho!? Thank you!!!

  • I question 90% of the fouls on Jordan!

  • @KingCaballero777 DO agree with you,

Seems those ref. are parts of the Bulls.

What the hell is the Mchale's fouls? obviously Michael jordan's cheating.

  • @ckw3216 u have no freakin idea what goes on whenever a player goes to the hoop and shoots the ball during that era my friend... everyone is being pushed, shoved & pulled! even MJ got called for a foul while holding on to DJ's side...hand checking at its best...

  • @wornoutshoes11 Obviously you are the kinds of fans which are totally falling in love in watching bitch's basketball ! XD

you entirely don't understand what is legal body contact and fouls, you are just like a normal primary school kids, and when someone just touch your hair, you will pretend like being shot! just like D.wade in 2006 finals ¬¬

  • @VictoriousTrojan and also where he did it, the boston celtics had a home record of 40-1 that season

  • Great Vid. Thanks for uploading

  • i like trains

  • Still lost

  • Great video nice to see some good videos that have meaning again.

  • 13:04 truly legendary...

  • my right ear love this video

  • even dirk as better numbers them bird

  • @wilzusuki idiot

  • bird was shit compare to air jordan he won cause he has better team

  • its funny because that ending was better than any mix that iv'e heard from todays ballers

  • great video, great quality, so sensational at the end i almost cried, MJ = god of Basketball, he simply invented the game, he put the NBA on the map, his airness FT dunk must be used as the logo of the NBA, his Jersey must be retired, his number must be retired from all teams and in all kind of sports in all countries from all over the world, he is the best athlete/sports man that ever walked on this earth. Thank you MJ for what you've done for us. Cheers uploader.

  • @2busy4you thanks i apperciate it happy thanksgiving to you as well thats a nice comment you made it made me smile thanks ....HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL ON MY CHANNEL AS WELL

  • @2busy4you How can u say he's the best athlete who EVER walked this earth? Have u seen EVERY SINGLE athlete to EVER walk this earth? God Himself is a better athlete. Subscribe! :)

  • @ForeverFlame88 If you are referring to Jesus Christ then i got nothing to say, (Jesus is our Lord and savior) but except from that yes most definately, Michael Jordan is THE BEST athlete that ever walked this earth and i'm not the one who's saying it you might wanna take a look at those 2 videos:

    watch?v=u69SCU79_O0

    watch?v=N6og_pOVi2w > here u can forward to 5:00 min

  • @2busy4you settle down.

    jesus.

  • @2busy4you MJ wasn't known for his sportsman him and bird was notorious for trash talking

  • @2busy4you So, I take it you like him, eh?

  • @2busy4you Maybe you should watch more sports. Because Football/Soccer and Cricket have players that were equal to and better than Jordan.

  • @2busy4you Don't forget about Wayne Gretzky who was undoubtedly a better Hockey player than Jordan was an NBA player.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores rofl, football ? name me 1 famous player in football, the best football player of all time ?...unknown. and it's not based on 1 player it's a team effort.

Soccer? who Pele ? when no one knew how to touch a soccer ball in his era ? or Maradonna the crackhead? Wayne Gretzky ? Hockey's not even close to Basketball, and it does not require athleticism, all you do is surfing around, no need to mention the indian sport.

  • @2busy4you Ronaldo. And yes Wayne Gretzky was better. So was Donald Bradman. Let's not forget Usain Bolt. I could go on and on.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores rofl, never heard of any of them, except for Ronaldo R9, it's pretty clear that you don't know who Michael Jordan is.

If you go to china and tell them about Bradman and Bolt and names like that they won't understand who u talking about.

While 90% of the population of the entire earth wich means 90 % of 7 billions human beings know who is Michael Jordan (at least during the 90's)

    Stats talk.

Put it in your head bud, Jordan is a gift from God !

    Period.

  • @2busy4you You really think Michael Jordan was that famous? He wasn't. The NBA in itself only generated at best 50-65 million views for a game in the NBA Finals when Michael Jordan played. So your assessment that 90% of the world knew who Michael Jordan was is false. The NBA is not that big outside of America.

And Donald Bradman is undoubtedly more famous around the world than Michael Jordan since at best Cricket generates 20 times more viewers.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores I don't have a clue who Donald Bradman is and im English we are the inventers of Cricket.

No one in this generation really likes cricket that much anymore.

  • @2busy4you You only think Michael Jordan was very famous because you live in America (I do too) but if you were to go to Japan, Poland, Spain, Germany, India etc the majority of the population would not even have heard of Michael Jordan.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores SPAIN? HA Spain have a huge basketball following so think again. Of course india wouldn't but seriously MJ is more famous than that cricket player.

  • @TheMainEvent2k9 England is a small country. India has over a billion people. And Spain does not have a huge NBA following.

I doubt you've talked to Asians, Africans etc because they have ABSOLUTELY no idea who Michael Jordan is.

Someone like Pele, Lionel Messi etc are much more known around the world than Michael Jordan.

I'm not trying to diss Jordan as he was a phenomenal player but the NBA does not generate that many viewers.

  • @TheMainEvent2k9 To put it in perspective in the top 40 most watched TV programs in American history 21 of them are NFL games and none of them are NBA games. The most watched NBA game of all time didn't even generate 50% of any of the last 4 Superbowls.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores talking about viewers, lol? totally wrong, it's the exact opposite, Asia, Africa, Australia, Middle east, Europe, America, Canada, the entire earth knows Michael Jordan, even the mountains, the trees the clouds the oceans would tell ya who is Michael Jordan, and honestly i don't know what are u doing here putting unknown names besides the GOAT, the Man is untouchable, he's perfect in every way.

Who cares about sports viewers, we're talking about MJ.

  • @2busy4you The point is that the NBA doesn't have that many viewers and therefore is not that famous. If you actually think for one second that people in Asia, Australia and the Middle East know who Michael Jordan is it's EXTREMELY obvious you know nothing about what's going on in the world and that you haven't actually spoken to anyone from those places.

  • @2busy4you Seriously man Michael Jordan couldn't even draw as many vewiers as Ben Roethlisberger and you think the whole world knows him? I like Michael Jordan's game and am not trying to diss him but it's gross how people slobber all over him without knowing the facts and no he isn't perfect in every way the guy himself said he doesn't take pictures with niggers so I can't see how you would think he's perfect.

  • @2busy4you It's truly sad how much emphasis you put on sports and no Michael Jordan is not a gift from God. He's a Basketball player and that's all.

  • @2busy4you If you can't respond with facts then what will you say? "omg MJ is an angel from heaven and fish know him and sing songs of jubilee about him!! OMGZ!!!".

Let me remind you. The NBA doesn't even generate half as many viewers as the NFL in America so what the hell makes you think he's going to be known all around the world? He's not.

Just because someone is famous in America doesn't mean they're famous all over the world.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores i can't believe this guy is still talking about viewers, haha, who da hell cares about sports viewers, we're talking about the great Michael Jordan, and how popular he was, the man used to be the most famous person on earth back in the 90's wake up, even more than Michael Jackson.

Everytime u came in here u brought some unknown ppl and compared them to MJ, Ben Roethlisberger ? are u kidding me ? who the fuck is that ? get serious dude.

  • @2busy4you You still don't seem to get it do you? The NBA in itself is not even that popular in America let alone in the world. How is the world going to know or care about Michael Jordan if only 25% of America watches the NBA? The answer is they don't know who he is.

  • @2busy4you And no he was not more famous than Michael Jackson. When Michael Jackson went on Oprah the show garnered 90 million viewers in America. That's 7th all time in the history of American broadcasting. None of Michael Jordan's games or interviews are even in the top 40 all time. Therefore he's not more famous.

  • @2busy4you You think Michael Jordan was more famous than Bill Clinton, Osama Bin Laden, Princess Diana, Margaret Thatcher or Saddam Hussein? Keep in mind if you don't know who these people are that's exactly how the rest of the world sees Michael Jordan..they don't know who he is.

Maybe you should stop being biased and see the truth. Michael Jordan is NOWHERE near being the most famous athlete of the 90s, all time, let ALONE person in the world.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores rofl, what's the point of bringing all those names on Mj's video, thanks for lettin us know that you're a hater.

And actually you're wrong, none of those ppl u mentioned were even close to Mike.

MJ is the best athelete of all time > watch?v=N6og_pOVi2w > 5:05 min.

MJ is the GOAT > watch?v=u69SCU79_O0

I don't think you're more knowledgeable than magic johnson, charles barkley, Isiah Thomas, kenny smith.

MJ is the most popular person of the 90's.

    Period.

  • @2busy4you I'm not a Michael Jordan hater. I think he's the greatest or 2nd greatest NBA player of all time.

But when you falsely say he's the most famous athlete, person etc it truly is sad. Michael Jordan was never the most famous athlete, person at any time in his life.

  • @2busy4you You said he was the most famous person in the 90s and anybody with common sense would tell you otherwise. Nevermind that I gave you facts to prove you wrong and you ignored them. You WANT Jordan to be the most famous person of the 90s. The problem is he never was even close to being that.

The facts is Basketball doesn't even have as many fans around the world as Baseball and so not that many people would know who Michael Jordan is.

  • @2busy4you If you really think Michael Jordan was more famous in the world than Bill Clinton, Margaret Thatcher and Osama Bin Laden you are clearly deluded.

The NBA is not big enough to attract much attention from outside of America and no one outside of America really cares for the NBA.

Michael Jordan can only be known as much as the sport he plays and the fact is not that many people care for Basketball in America let ALONE the world.

  • @2busy4you You can say that Michael Jordan was the most famous person of the 90s all you want but it won't make it true. It has nothing to do with being a Michael Jordan fan or even a homer. It's just common sense. Anyone with common sense knows that Michael Jordan was NOWHERE near being the most famous person of the 90s. To say that he was is pretty disturbing.

  • @2busy4you You haven't given me proof as to how Michael Jordan can be the most famous person of the 90s. I didn't come to diss Jordan. I was actually watching many of his videos the day I replied to you.

You said Michael Jordan was the most famous person of the 90s and I refuted that by bringing up politicians and terrorists who were much more known around the world.

  • @2busy4you This isn't about whether Michael Jordan was a great Basketball player as he was a phenomenal player and much better than anyone playing today. This is about your claim that Michael Jordan was the most famous person in the world and that 90% of the world knew who he was. I'm a Michael Jordan fan like every other person watching this video but you are speaking nonsense to a degree that is pathetic.

  • @2busy4you You're going to tell me that Michael Jordan was more famous than Princess Diana, Bill Clinton and Osama Bin Laden? You're going to tell me that he was more famous than Michael Jackson? You have no proof of that and only a deluded person would say such a thing.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores most definately he was, it's not an opinion, it's a fact. who cares about politics and terrorists, sports are way more important to people than these liars hypocrites politicians and their stories. And who's on top of sports again? Michael Jordan. thank you.

  • @2busy4you If it's a fact then show me some proof that would indicate that Michael Jordan was more famous. There's no proof that he's the most famous person of the 90s. I've never even hear anyone but you say that.

And like I said only 25% of America watches the NBA and less than 1% of the world watches the NBA. Soccer brings in about 60% of the world and therefore the most famous soccer players are going to be leaps and bounds more times famous.

  • @2busy4you Just so you know most people don't care about sports that much that it takes precedence from social issues. Over 1.5 million were in the audience of Obama's inauguration. Michael Jordan and any other sports player would not be able to generate that many people at all.

Do you think Michael Jordan is more famous than Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson or the Beatles? Because if you do then there's no hope in having an unbiased conversation with you.

  • Comment removed

  • @2busy4you I already gave you proof. When Obama was inaugurated a total of 1.5 million people attended it. There's not one sports player that could amass that type of audience.

You ignore facts and common sense. No sports player could be the most famous person on Earth. Why do you think Michael Jordan could be the most famous person on Earth when less than 1% of the world watches the NBA?

You can't just fart claims that make no sense and expect people to accept it.

  • @2busy4you Saying that Michael Jordan was the most famous person on Earth is a claim that makes no sense and is a claim that is so high above in idiocy that you NEED to prove it's true. What makes you think he's the most famous person? Less than 1% of the world watches the NBA so what about the other 99%?

  • @2busy4you Your claim that Jordan was more famous than Princess Diana, Hitler, Obama, Bill Clinton is so outlandish that I wonder why I'm even arguing to you about it. No person would agree with you. Not one person would agree with you.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores It's been said that at his zenith, MJ's posters hung in remote Chinese Villages, and that MJ was in fact more well known across the world than then-President Bill Clinton. My guess would be that it was determined that those very same people who pinned up MJ posters in the outskirts of the Western world were discovered not to know who the U.S. President was. Once your fame and stature surpasses the U.S. President, it's not a stretch to imagine that you could be the most

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores famous person in the world. And MJ is generally believed to have been that in the '90s.

  • @Christien23 And you're wrong. Generally he is NOT considered to be the most famous person in the 90s except by his homers. In the general public the most known people of the 90s were Bill Clinton, Princess Diana and Osama Bin Laden.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores I've often heard that MJ was more popular than Bill Clinto and the rest of the world; I've heard the term "Beatlesque" used to estimate the reach of his pop cultural phenomenon. Can you really prove that anybody was more popular than Jordan in the '90s? I'd like to see some hard evidence on this.

  • @Christien23 Keep in mind that the claim that Michael Jordan was the most famous person of the 90s is so outlandish that even though I have provided proof to prove otherwise I'm not the one that I shouldn't have to. It should be those that think he was the most famous person in the 90s that need to verify that claim.

I can prove it very easily.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores But is the claim really outlandish? Is it truly inconceivable to believe that the most popular and dominant athlete in the world over a span of about 7-8 years could really have been the most person in the world? Or is it outlandish simply because you have a different opinion on the subject?

    "

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores Your grasp on the facts of the NBA's global impact and popularity seems tenuous. The NBA went global in the early '90s around the time that the Dream Team became the world's feature attraction during the '92 Olympic games. Far more than anyone else on that team, MJ, who was coming off back-to-back championships was the center of attention on that team. By that point, MJ had already been an iconic figurehead around the world for years, because of his awe-inspiring game and

  • @Christien23 There have been many famous people. Keep in mind as I said before the NBA is watched by less than 1% of the world. That statistic is used to buff up the actual number as it is in accordance to the top 5 NBA games ever watched. Michael Jordan was not more famous than John F. Kennedy, Elvis, Presley, Bill Clinton, Hitler or Princess Diana.

  • @Christien23 I'm not underestimating the NBA. I'm just stating the statistical fact that the majority of people don't watch Basketball and less than 1% of the world watches the NBA. That is a proven fact.

It's truly hilarious that you think the highlight of the 1992 Olympics was the Dream Team. The majority of the world didn't care AT ALL about the Basketball games. That is a fact.

I can keep posting statistics to prove you wrong but it's so hilarious that I even have to.

  • @Christien23 It's so funny that you think the NBA is global when the most watched NBA game of all time didn't even generate half as many views as the top 5 most watched NFL games. You think anyone in the world knows who Brett Favre, Jerry Rice and Joe Montana are? Yet the NFL has twice as many viewers.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores Interesting that you'd compare popular NFL players' fame to the cuultural phenomenon of Air Jordan. Out of curiosity, could you tell me what the most watched NBA game is (I'd be willing to wager Jordan was featured)? And are you really meaning to go on record on Youtube and try and tell everyone that Michael Jordan's fame never eclipsed a %1 portion of the population? Your answer to this question will tell everyone whether it's worth it to engage you in this discussion any

  • @Christien23 The most watched NBA game of all time was game 6 of the 1998 Finals. The game was viewed by 72 million people. The most watched NFL game of all time was the Superbowl 45 (Packers vs. Steelers). It was viewed by 153 million people.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores Incidentally, Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals was widely anticipated to be Michael Jordan's last game as a professional. I'll be darned.

Also, Michael Jordan an an individual, and an athlete, is far more popular around the globe than any other professional athlete the Unites States has ever produced. So your argument that the NFL is America's most popular sport is a strawman at best (that is because, nobody on here ever questioned the NFL's stature as the US' most popular

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores sport). The face that you've felt so inspired to repeatedly beat up this strawman raises some red flags about the substance of your claim. It means that either a) you had no idea the NFL's fame was irrelevant to the scope of America's most iconic athlete or b) you knew this all along and were being intentionally obtuse. I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt here, but your overall snarky tone suggests the ladder, in which case, you're simply embarrassing yourself.

  • @Christien23 There are some estimates that show Basketball as a whole has anywhere from 350-450 million fans all over the world. I'll double that figure 900 million to give Michael Jordan an advantage. That would come around to 13% of the world and I gave Michael Jordan an EXTREME boost just for the sake of argument. (continued)

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores Again: No one on here is doubting that the NBA isn't America's, or the world's, most popular sport. Where your logic goes haywire is where you assume that the scope of Michael Jordan's individual brand is somehow inextricably linked to that of the NBA's. Such logic is flawed, because it fails to account for the facts that a) Michael Jordan, as an entity, is NOT the NBA and b) Michael Jordan's fame transcended the NBA's. The man is notorious in sports by the

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores then-unprecedented way in which he marketed his individual brand. He starred in blockbuster Summer movies, was the face of, like, a billion different marketing campaigns for products as far ranging in scope as men's cologne and McDonald's. It's not implausible to believe that Michael Jordan's empire was bigger was and is bigger than the NBA's. Especially when he was winning championships.

  • @Christien23 You need to take into account how many people were exposed to those films, commercials etc. For example in India you'll rarely find people that like Basketball. Because of this companies will pick celebrities and athletes to advertise their products based on who they're advertising to. In this case Jordan will not be that guy. In England the commercials will have Football/Soccer players as opposed to Michael Jordan. The same is in Brazil, Mexico, France, Italy etc

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores Well, sure. But what about the fact that Michael Jordan actually toured India, Brazil, Spain and those places to promote his shoes? I mean, he physically went there to play promotional pick-up games to sold-out stadiums. And who on earth hasn't been exposed to Space Jam? Or even Michael Jackson's music videos (Michael was featured in one of those too)? Who wasn't wowed by Michael on the world's biggest stage in the '84 and '92 Summer Olympic games?

  • @Christien23 Going to a country won't significantly raise your popularity. Barcelona and Manchester played in America last year in a couple games where thousands upon thousands of people attended and yet the majority of Americans don't know who they are. The same goes with Jordan when he toured in India and other countries.

Space Jam is the 382# most watched movie of all time (theatres). If Michael Jordan was as famous as you say wouldn't that number be higher?

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores I mention Space Jam because it was a blockbuster Summer hit that has gained a reputation as one of the most cherished kids movies ever. Sure it didn't draw Titanic's or Dark Knight's box office, but that trifle detail certainly doesn't reflect poorly on Jordan's stature. Especially when you consider that the Theatrical Box Office is only the very first of a film's many channels of distribution. I'm sure Space Jam's home video and DVD sales numbers are gargantuan in scope.

  • @Christien23 DVD's and VHS tapes NEVER sell as much as the theatre viewings. Usually the ABSOLUTE best selling are only 10% of the theatre viewings.

The point is that Space Jam didn't expose Jordan that much,

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores Right, but put the two together and add up the total years of the movie's distributed life (Space Jam came out almost 16 years ago) and you have a lot of exposure. Bugs and MJ are big draws.

  • @Christien23 Using that methodology I'll use an example. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2 combined for a total of 387 million ticket sales. The movie was based on the book of the same name which came out in 2007 and by 2008 sold 44 million copies around the world. (continued)

  • @Christien23 (continuing) JK Rowling is the author of the whole shabang and is widely recognized in many wealthy countries yet I see no one suggesting she's the most famous person on Earth. Her credential in terms of fame and notoriety far outclass that of Michael Jordan.

Yet she is NOT more famous than Obama, the Pope, or Ahmadinejad.

So how is Michael Jordan supposed to be more famous?

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores No author's fame "credentials" could reasonably be said to rival that of the most dominant, celebrated and marketed athlete of the 20th Century. Not without considerable prejudice toward Jordan's unprecedented empire. This is simply false.

  • @Christien23 JK Rowling's net worth is $800 million and Michael Jordan's is $500 million. Keep in mind that she started her career in 1997 and her net worth is based SOLELY on how popular she is since she didn't inherit the money and the money is based solely on how popular she is.

In the past 15 years she's sold 400 million books around the world. So yes her fame credentials no only rival but crush that of Michael Jordan's.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores Riiigghhhtt. Nevermind that Jordan's been famous for over 25 years, and that there was a 16-17 year span in that time when his fame continually snowballed without letting up. Also, nevermind that Michael Jordan was the subject of one of the most expensive divorces ever (his wife is responsible for that 300 million dollar difference is), or that Jordan stopped getting his salary in 2003. Also, nevermind that Michael Jordan currently owns and operates a professional

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores basketball team. That's not an expensive enterprise at all. Especially when you consider what he paid for it.

JK Rowling will never see Jordan's lifetime earnings, my friend. She won't live long enough. No author will.

  • @Christien23 Actually a couple years ago her net worth was $1 billion. Keep in mind it's much harder to earn money as an author than an NBA player. And from all the sources I've checked Jordan's net worth has never been $1 billion. The whole point of bringing up money is to point out how popular she needed to be.

She's sold over 400 million books and the Harry Potter series has accumulated anywhere from 800 million to 1 billion tickets. Her worldwide popularity crushes Jordan's.

  • @ProtestAgainstWhores Even if I yielded that there was, even an off-chance, that JK Rowling was more popular than MJ today (and I do doubt it, regardless of their comparative riches), the fact remains that there was arguably no one in the world more popular than Michael Jordan in '90s.

  • @Christien23 Really? After the numbers I showed you there's no way Michael Jordan was even exposed to 2 billion people in the 90s. What numbers or evidence do you have? You do realize that Michael Jackson generated better views don't you? You do realize that Basketball is an American sport and therefore Michael Jordan was RARELY advertized outside of America don't you?

You haven't provided any evidence that could stand.

  • @Christien23 If Michael Jordan was the most famous person of the 90s there should be obvious evidence to this since he was an athlete and athlete exposure is more easily proven. He was never viewed by 200 million people at one time. None of his shoes, jerseys sold considerably outside of America. His advertisements weren't even were RARELY shown outside of America.

I have absolutely no idea how you could think he was the most famous person of the 90s. It makes no sense whatsoever.

  • @Christien23 This is one of the weirdest arguments I've ever had.

You are saying an athlete that plays in a league less than 1% of the world watches is more famous than Bill Clinton, Osama Bin Laden and the Pope? Do you realize how insane that sounds?
