I think that the USA has a cultural problem with government that other countries in the developed world don't suffer. It isn't the state that is the problem, it is the way that the state gets things done. Because the USA is so business focussed they don't have a good grasp of how to administer a government because the superimpose business models that are inappropriate.
The USofA is a mixed economy. It is a system devoid of any single intellectual basis, but rather contradicting, flawed ideas that are not connected to reality.

I remember the 1980s when trickle down capitalism was explained by Reaganomics. It took 224 years for the national debt to grow to $5 trillion. It only took Bush 8 years to burn through that much again to $10 trillion debt with foreign banks. Now he wants to take some more world leaders down with him like Tony Blair at this world summit. I think that the USA has a cultural problem with government that other countries in the developed world don't suffer. It isn't the state that is the problem, it is the way that the state gets things done. Because the USA is so business focussed they don't have a good grasp of how to administer a government because the superimpose business models that are inappropriate.

The USofA is a mixed economy. It is a system devoid of any single intellectual basis, but rather contradicting, flawed ideas that are not connected to reality.
A fusion of state political power and the function of a business means unfair advantage for the business that has the most corrupt politicians. That is one reason why politics should stay out of business.
Financial meltdown had to do with a factor of that nanny: disgusting inflation of un-backed fiat currency and massive national debt.

If there is a single country in the world that Doesn't have fiat currency, and has backed currency, I want to know (and many other intelligent people.. solid money is an excellent investment).
The main thing wrong with what the state does, is that it has no fundamental function, anymore.

What you are talking about is gold reserves and the metalist argument. I think that sentiment is what drives value which is part of why I studied psychology to study economics.
Also, governments do have a valuable function, its just that the USA has been badly led for a long time now, so you have forgotten.

Actually I think the fault for the meltdown lies with the combination of the Iraq war driving petrol up and forcing people to default on their mortgages, but more importantly, the criminal misconduct in the under-regulated derivatives market from valuation firms like Standard & Poors and Moodys. National debt by comparison is rarely important to a strongly functioning market.
