  • Shouldn't both tires spin in the same direction? Not familiar with lunchbox lockers.

  • Will you do mine next? :-D

  • Great video thanks for posting, love informational stuff like this.

  • Looks like you have a problem? When you turn one wheel arnt both suppose to turn if you have a locker?

  • what good this shows me u sped it up i messed my spider gears up i got the pin out but dont know houw to get the ratchets out g80 gt4 3.73 rearend 2003 chevy silverado

  • few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. a few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kid's room, the father said "take the kids and get out of the house. we'll call the police, we don't have a clown staue." the "clown statue" is really a killer that esacpedfronjail. ifyou dont post letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand; sorry i didnt want that happening to me

  • @georges7944 Why on earth would you post that stupid comment on HERE??!!! Don't spam, it's annoying.

  • what kind of jack you got? that bitch is fast

  • need to lay off the crack man.

  • how much should labor to get both air lockers installed on a stock jeep cost?

  • try not to lay the bearings in the dirt

  • i hope you enjoyed getting the smell of gear lube off your hands thats exact;y why i wear latex gloves

  • I'm sure it's replaceable. Call/Email the manufacturer and explain where the broken teeth are, some companies even have a lifetime warranty and might replace it for free.

  • hey important question. on my locker that inner ring that u repositioned has some broken teeth and i was wondering if that is replaceable/fixable

  • @Jusrin21 I'm sure it's replaceable. Call/Email the manufacturer and explain where the broken teeth are, some companies even have a lifetime warranty and might replace it for free.

  • is this an aussie locker?

  • Damn bro...you are quick! Want to do mine?? LOL Great video!

  • i LOLed at the fast forward haha

  • nice vid

  • haha thats the damn air compressor running lol 0:46 - 1:05 sounds like a car horn

  • Dam wish I could fix my car that fast

  • lunch-box in the rear FTL

  • @MetELstorm1 back at ya, i wasnt trying to sound like a dick about it. :)

  • @MetELstorm1 that what racheting lockers sound like.

you dont need a dial if you dont change the pside collar because that is the collar that will move the gear in or out. the d side is purely preload. same goes for shimmed axles, if you arent changing out the gear, bearings or carrier there is no need to dial it.

if you want to be anal and got a big enough bench vice by almeans go ahead and use a torque wrench . i never do and i do 2 a week.

  • @MetELstorm1

1 they dont always engauge unless you are putting power to it.

2 you dont need a trorque wrench

3 you dont need a dial to setup the gears if you dont back the pside collar off.

  • how long did it take you

  • GM 14 bolt 10-1/2 right?

  • @RustyCarnahan Yes.

  • @BranndonC Where did you get the carrier for it?

  • @RustyCarnahan I bought the gear set from randys ring and pinion and had a friend install them. I'm not sure about the carrier though, if I bought a new one or it was just in the axle.

  • fack

  • anyone else see the porcupine quills in the drivers side tire? sorry bout your poor swampers dude.

  • wow, if mechanics worked that fast, it would run you just under 30 bucks for labor. lol

  • tell me if im wrong but when lockers are installed and are on stands as yours was and after you put the axle shafts back in and spun the tires, arent both of the tires suppose to spin at the same time? I dont think thats an actual locker sorry.

  • @natep246 not all the time, if its a manual locker yea, but if its an automatic locker like a detroit the locker wont engage until torque is applied i.e. pressing on the gas pedal

  • @55555me no your wrong.. actual you got it vise versa... manual lockers only one tire will spin, on automatic lockers believe it or not will spin both when its on jack stands, street or dirt there actually called mechanical lockers no automatic lockers

  • @natep246 nah im right i may have just worded it wrong to you. By manual lockers i mean something like an arb where you flip a switch when u want it to lock, if its not locked yes only one tire will spin or mabey one forwards and one backwards but if it is locked it will spin both. An automatic locker like a detroit will only spin both tires the same direction and speed if atleast one wheel has resistance while torque is being applied. I'l try and upload a video of mine for you soon.

  • @55555me i agree with you on manual lockers such as arb or electric lockers but automatic lockers are locked up 100% of the time i should know i have eaton locker.. your thinking of limited slips because thats what you must have.. limited slips lock up when they have resistance, lockers are locked up all the time regardless of having resistance or not thats why there called "LOCK"ERS... learn the differences between lockers and limited slips!

  • @natep246 hey come on man im not trying to start a fight or anything lol. yes i know what your saying about lsds but a detroit does unlock usually when letting off the gas (ever hear of the infamous detroit bang?), look up how they are made there built in to allow slippage, otherwise there would be no point in shelling out hundreds more when you could just get a spool which does lock both tires all the time. And its a detroit trust me the first thing to go on my dodge was the garbage stock lsd.

  • So why was it broken?

  • Fill the entire differential with MHD fluid.

  • Should have used new ring gear bolts.

  • your removing the bolts the hard way!! power tools? XD

  • Nice work boots!!

  • the fast boy

  • good job, wish i knew how to do that!

  • Some company should employ this guy, he can build complete cars in few hours, hand made stuff never came faster and cheaper.

  • just another day in the life of 4wd

  • so are lockers on the wheels or in the pumpkin???

  • pumpkin. and its singular unless you have one up front and in the rear

  • in the pumpkin

  • man this guy works fast, wonder if he wants to do mine next

  • Well what was wrong with it?

  • just weld it up and quit worrying about it thats what i did on a daily driver and it is fine

  • now i know what an air compression running at 40,000 rpm sounds like.

  • damn dude ! ive had friends on speed who never worked that fast ! you must have sqeirrel blood,lol.......

  • dood why didnt you set the backlash? im doing a carrier replacement on my baby and dood its been hell just finding the parts for my 97 tahoe. and about the carrier bearings do you think a shop should put them on or should i do it the old fashion way with a socket and a hammer?

  • My diff dried out because it was leaking without me realizing it and I sheared off all the gears on the ring and pinion. It would have cost me like 500.00 but I did it all myself and did it for like 60.00. Mainly cause I went to a junk yard for parts. I sold it and like a month later the guy tells me the outer axle bearing went out and froze up the back end. Good thing I sold it.

  • lolz whata dick

  • Lolz.... I Use My Rachets As Hammers To :)

  • sick deaver pack looks like a yota with hoops racerunner shocks? i have a 02 with same set up what gears are you running

  • crack kills

  • Nice job

  • is it possible to just weld something, not sure what so that it is pure posi??

  • thats what we call a lincoln locker

that turns it into full possy by welding the spiders on the differential

if he were to do that and then try to take a corner his back wheels would hop and cause damage to his drivetrain

  • no no no no you are too fast lol, hey!! are you using arb or what? I just got my arb front and rear and i'm getting ready this weekend to install for the first time,i never done it before...I know it's ease\but i don't think i can be as fast as you are lol..

  • Woooooow!!!!!!!!!! you fast men, lol

  • GIT-R-DONE lmao

  • Hey mate I just got a front arb air locker, How did you damage your rear air locker?

I want to learn from your mistake lol...

  • First mistake is, that it's not an air locker, sizzle chest.

  • yeah flip-flops and no tourque wrench, a serious shadetree mechanic

  • yeah the best friggin kind no matter what my neighbor says. that work he did would have cost him 500 bucks to have done around here and it would have taken 4 days. I like people that can do all kinds of stuff. the more you can do the more self sufficient you are..

  • Have your ring gear bolts sheered off yet?

That thing is living on borrowed time dude.

  • You got to be kidding.. why would his ring bolts shear off? They are after all grade 8 tightened down with a friggin 400 foot lb impact.. You would have to put that thing in a freaking vise to get those off any other way.

  • I can answer consaka1.....Even IF you were capable of putting 400 ft pounds of torque on ring gear bolts, before they break, you would surely shear them when they get under vehicle load from driving. ...They are grade 8, but mine have 55 foot pounds on them as stated in the torque specs for a dana 44....build rears before commenting please....lol

  • My point was that he just used an impact to put it together and not a torque wrench thus unknown torque not necessarily exactly 400 ft lbs. A good impact can put 600 ftlbs in reverse though usually a bit less in forward.

Regardless of the 55 lb spec. even if he torqued them to 70 or 80 they would not be any more likely to shear at vehicle load then if they had been torqued to 55. Study some physics as I have built rearends. LOL threads would likly strip way before that grade 8 bolt would break.

  • Yeah, they would be more likely to shear at load if they had been overtightened. You're a physics major, so you'd know that a bolt holds by being stretched. I have built lunar landers and deep sea subs...see how easy that is to claim things online with no proof of anything? I build my vehicles and abuse them accordingly up to and including my engines, trans, and axles...look on page 23 of this months four wheeler magazine and you'll see one of my toys as well :]

  • That a YJ?

  • put a spool in that bitch!! haha

  • No torque wrench!?!?

  • For the gears into the axle, you don't need one, there are these 2 spinny things (it's early and my mind isn't awake for the name of them) that mark the exact position it was tightened to.

  • Now that's a very informative video. Well done.

  • I don't know if I'd call it very informative, but thanks!

  • True there isnt alot of detail but it was fun to watch.. and Damn your fast.. I got a diff Im working on right now.. want to come help? lol

  • put some fucking real shoes on.....i would hate to drop that bitch on my foot

  • yeah that would hurt either way i bet.

  • Lay off the caffeine man!!! hee hee.

  • I like your videos!
