well the old lady tried controlling her whole life since the old lady had a problem in the past regarding her wedding day that the guy didnt show up at the wedding day and since then she wanted to teach this girl (gwyneth paltrow) to learn how to break everyones heart. But in the end the old lady regrets all she did to the guy (ethan hawk) and the girl (gwyneth paltrow).
