This is an old road below Mishongnovi Village that runs to the Sunlight Mission. and a few skattered houses. they are heading east. This is one of the least interesting roads on the whole Hopi Rez.
LOL! I agree! This road is not that great. The one that leads around the Mesa into Mishongonovi from the Cultural Center is better. However, these people did catch a quick image of Corn Rock.
Attention Hopis! Which area of Hopiland was this filmed at? I've visited many Hopi villages when I lived there. 1st Mesa(Walpi/Middle/Tewa). 2nd Mesa: Shungopavi/Shipalovi/Mishongavi. 3rd Mesa: K-Town(Kykotsmovi)"Old Oraibi"/Hotevilla/Bacavi.
Also used live in Tuba City and got to know the village of Meonkopi both "Upper Meonkopi" and "Lower Meonkopi" I'd like to say a "Hello" to my old buddies in Meonkopi: Valerie(Val)& Joe Lucero, Bobby Telahaitewa,Carol Chimerica and Vermina Sakiestewa!
Meandaha..(again). I seem to hear a Sioux speaking in the 1st minute or so. I know some Sioux words, my grandpa was Sioux from Pine Ridge. Wash-tay(waste)= Good. Wa-Con(wakon)= Holy. Although I speak english I do know certain words in Sioux/Chippewa/Hopi. Anyways, I still love this video. Just thought I'd add a bit of info. I think it would be cool if someone who spoke Sioux could translate those those words since I can't but it sure sounds like Sioux to me.
I was just wondering which part the Hopi rez you filmed this. I used to live in Keams and I can remember only about 4 churches on the rez. There's a Catholic church in Keams Canyon,Baptist and Morman in Polacca and one other one in K-Town(Kykotsmovi). I really liked seeing this, I made alot of friends when I lived there and miss the scenery. I left Keams in '90 so it's been 18yrs since I've been there. I'm Chippewa from Minnesota but my nephew is Hopi and living in Hotevilla. Qaqwhy!
This is below Mishungnovi, you should of went to the old day school below my village(Shungopavi) ahhaaa! & see the old village that was there :P
