  • the owner of the whalers is a vegan.

    vegans are the best athletes.

  • LMFAO The Whalers were so much better then the Montreal Expos stevedrums

  • what year is this?

  • Organ playin tune called........Ooops i did it again.

  • I hate bench clearing brawl because they never amount to anything. Just a bunch of pushing. Only once in a while do you see an actual fight breakout from the bunch.

  • man, these were the days..........

  • as long as bettman is in charge nhl hockey will never return to hartford, the nhl would be alot better off without bettman, the whalers played to over 90% capacity but bettman had it in for them yet phoenix plays to just over 60% and bettman tries to keep them there, and you wonder why hockey has lost fans, bring back hartford, quebec, and winnipeg

  • is that sam rosen commentating?? and phil esposito? ans it sounds like oh baby davidson? or am i wrong?

  • @bryan1282 You're right, this had to be one of the first games JD ever broadcast, a 3 man booth w Sam & Espo, what a group

  • I BLEED GREEN BABY

  • @torsie11009

I do NOT care what anyone says...the "talent" on this Whalers team was pretty good.

  • @JohnnyInHampton Hartford was like the Montreal Expos of the NHL. Hartford borne Ron Francis, Mike Rogers, Mike Kiut, Ulf Samulesson and many others. They could just afford to keep these guys. Same with the Expos: dawson, Carter, Steve Rogers, Pedro Martinez, Tim Raines, et al.

  • @stevedrums That's ridiculously incorrect..the Whalers never couldn't afford a player. The management just made awful moves sending great players away for inferior ones.

  • Glen Hanlon is always easy to detect among the mess of players with his carrot-colored hair.

  • Since somebody asked, this game was played on November 26, 1983.

  • LETS GO WHALES

  • the Hartford Whalers...Americas Team!!

  • Holy!!! I was at this game

  • What year was this?

  • It was either 83 or 84

  • Thanks.

  • Those organ players really took their shit

    serious,never stop playing.They could be

be-heading each other with their skates and this dude would keep on playing.

  • hahaha true

  • Now I'm from Boston and a die hard fan of Boston Bruins however my boyfriend was a Hartford Whalers fan and wishes that they would come back so that we could have another feud in sports.

  • are you gay?

  • @p4piper BUT U'LL ALWAYS HAVE A HOCKEY WIT BRUINS AGAINST THE CANADIENS OR RANGERS LETS GO RANGERS!!!!

  • I'm from Connecticut...

but I'm from the New York part of Connecticut! Lets Go Rangers!

  • same here. i'm from darien, ct but grew up a ranger fan. there were probably more ranger fans there than anything

  • im from meriden lets go rangers we are getting the cup this year

  • umm guys sorry but this is hawks years not rangers. sorry and whaler are better than rangers!

  • I am not from Connecticut...I'm a die hard Flyers fan...but I wish the Whalers were still around....they were never a good team, but they still had rivalries with the Rangers, Islanders, and Bruins.

  • By the way, why was it always Bruce Hood & Andy VanHellemond refereeing these games?

  • Sylvain Turgeon?! In a fight?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hospodar was one of my fave players when i was a kid/teen..looking back on him now, he was sort of an asshole.

  • SORT of??!!

  • Growing up in New York I got to meet Ed Hospodar a few times when he was a Ranger and he was a really nice guy off the ice, very fan friendly.that sticks in my mind till this day considering the modern athletes and the way they sometimes treat the fans. so off ice he was as cool as a moose. on ice however, if he didn't play for your team its easy to see why he was disliked.

  • Same with Fotiu. Couldn't have been ncier off of the ice.

  • fotiu was one of the scariest guys who ever played, tyson anyone?

  • how many teams did boxcar hospodar play for?

  • east coast hockey.....

    bring back the whale!

  • Rangers Suck !!!

  • Whalers fans join whalerwatch. com

  • Beck never came close to winning a cup. Over rated and a goof on top of that. Lots of talent, wasted in Colorado and New York. Like Lindros and many others. Nice to see my main man Ronnie Francis scrumming around as a Whaler!

  • Why was Beck a "Goof"?

  • I WAS THERE!!! WoW the efin' memories.......I have the WHALERS -H inside the whale tail- Logo TATTOOED on my calf, about the size of your hand flat,I got it 2 years before they..... I was born in Hartford Hospital, although I don't live in CT. right now,Marlborough will ALWAYS be my home, and I will ALWAYS be a WHALERS fan, and a HOCKEY fan until I die, even in this Bettman era of "Pussified" Hockey.... NHL back in Hartford?? HERE take my Left Nut....

  • A-men!!!

  • god i hate the rangers so mutch

  • Ah the Hartford Whalers....the memories.

  • White people on channell 9. wow

  • 1) Jan Erixon was a dirty bitch at times, he hit late a ton of times.

2)Although Boxcar was a POS cheapshot artist, so was "Bubba." Fotiu should've stayed in Staten Island where they dumped the Garbage.

  • I remember watching that game LIVE, about 25 years ago...

Bubba Beck was really steamed and was ready to kill Eddie Hospodar...

The Whalers definitely lost the draw, with Beck and Fotiu on the Rangers...

  • You never watched this game.

  • most all ranger games where on wor or msg t.v. iam no ranger fan , but almost all away games where on the tube back then.

  • well i did. and i didn't realize it until then, the Rangers not only had Beck and Fotiu one the ice for that brawl, a couple of years earlier they also had BOTH Hospodar and Kostopulous on the team.when you hear the phrase "goon squad" used the Flyers usually come to mind, but looking at that bunch of players the Rangers weren't too far behind them.

  • Just as I guessed, this is the 1983-84 season, Rosen gave it away when he said Turgeon(Sylvain) was in his rookie season.

Is the back-up goaltender Vanbiesbrouck or Soetart? I know Beezer was up for the playoffs that year, because I was AT the Coliseum when the Isles ended the Rangers season on Kenny Morrow's goal LMAO!

  • Duh! Did you even watch the Video? Steve Weeks is the starting and Glenn Hanlon is the backup...IDIOT Islanders fan

  • You fucker, don't remind me of Morrow's goal. j/k. I still love you Icelander fans. And boy, do I miss the Whale. And hockey on Channel 9?!? Classic. I miss those days of trooping up to Hartford, only a 2 hr drive with the old man. Always a fun trip. Brass bonanza and all. Long Live The Whale!!!

  • this was amazing. thanks. i miss the whale. look at my freaking screen name. ill bleed green forever

  • dont give up bro, i dont know if you live in ct but theres been a lot of talk about bring the nhl back to hartford:)

  • his nick was Bruce (let em loose) Hood

    and yeah hockey today sucks

  • Sam/JD and Phil Esposito in 1 booth here, oh boy, the color commentary never ends with these guys

  • Got to love Bruce "Let 'Em Play" Hood. One of the best Old School refs.

  • It really is amazing how many of the old refs I remember. Hood, Ron Sickle, Dave Newell, Andy VanHellomond. The greats...

  • VanHellemond always worked the finals never biased towards one team just called a fair game.

  • Hood used to be called "Turn'em loose Bruce". My 5 year old daughter watches hockey with me and "roots" for the refs. She says "Daddy, I like the guys in the strip shirts". Classic
