Yeah, Muraki's really weird. You could say he wants Tsuzuki like that, but then you see the last story arc he's in, then you wonder, "was he bullshitting raping Tsuzuki or what? O_O"
I'm a villain fangirl, but I tend to pick things based on plot. And yes, I like yaoi. XD It was one of the reasons I picked up the first book. The other two reasons were the story sounded good and I liked the art--like the characters eyes.

It's a shoujo story, so the focus will be on relationships between characters, but that being said, you could see it as a building sexual relationship or simply good friends.
The same goes for Muraki. He has no preference as to gender and *spoiler* he sees everyone as dolls to be played with, like Hisoka (hence the lyrics in the background of the amv).

Give the first story arc a chance (the first three episodes) and then make up your mind. I'd rather you read the books, but I don't know if you could find them since the series is on an indefinite hiatus.

I've always held among my friends that Muraki is freakin scary and evil and not a character I want to sympathize with. He's not so bad he's good. He's so bad he's, well, bad. I'll try to avoid dropping spoilers. You can also watch the anime here on Youtube, just know that it didn't get much of a budget, so it's dated and corny.
Tsuzuki and Hisoka are shinigamis, humans that died with a strong attachment to the living world (Hisokas is revenge, Tsuzukis seems to be grief). Since they themselves cant move on to their own trials (which judges them to go to heaven or hell), they work in Purgatory as summoners for the courts. This job also works them like they are
detectives, as sometimes they have to actually figure out the causes of deaths to find the souls. Sometimes shinigami actually have to kill the person to take to court. A shinigami doesnt tend to like this part of the job.
They dont always take souls. In one story they actually have to find out why lives that were on the verge of death suddenly gained long and healthy lives.
The books provide a mix of murder mystery and tons of humor. But dont be put off the jovial overtone,
in that happiness is sadness and all the shinigami have underlying reasons for becoming a god of death.
Dr. Muraki is a very disturbed rapist and serial killer (if he died, I think he could become a shinigami. Hed revel in it, I think). He's involved in at least 3 main plots in the manga/anime, has raped and killed *insert character here* and is after Tsuzuki to...do...things...with. *looks shiftily around*

I suppose that I should thank Muraki for helping me to realise what I want to become which is a psychologist. He sparked my interest for psychopaths and personality disorders and that then made me take a psychology class in highschool. And now I'm striving to reach my goal.
I have to admit, he was my favourite the first time I watched YnM but that faded when I realise how disturbed he really is. He makes an excellent villain non the less and I do still like him, in a nostalgic sort of way.

The author obviously did something right if people can be seduced by Muraki, however. It makes his ability to manipulate others all the more believable. I like this an a lot. I myself like Muraki, as the way he is. Not as a sex symbol, but as a man. Not so easy to explain, but I enjoyed watching this. I can see why the audience was so quiet. I was too.
I love Muraki for his sex symbol status, /and/ his horrific evil, both. His sadism and obsession with Tsuzuki can be unapologetically sexy. x'D Only in anime, however.
Even still, Hisoka/Tsuzuki is my my favorite pairing... and I like the cruel and disturbing side of Muraki better, because it makes for an interesting villain.

This amv is perfect for Muraki, the combination of the song and the clips gave me the chills. It made me even more fascinated and actracted by him; he's a sadist, a psycho, a murderer, a rapist and that just increase the appeal he has over me. I admit I love psycho and twisted characters, they have a haunting and extremely seductive appeal to me. Plus I see him perfectly with Tsuzuki, in many ways. He's one of my favorite characters ever, so I thank you for this masterpiece.

this relay is truly brilliant. I especially like the last shot, and how the last bit focuses on Saki and portrays the emotional damaged caused. When I first watched this video, it hit me that this is possible the first YnM AMV, and cirtenly the first Muraki-centric AMV, that doesn't have a single shot of him molesting Tsuzuki-san. I think this is realy the essence of muraki, well done.

I loved the video, but frankly I wouldn't mind seeing it flaged as inappropriate for minors... mind you when i was a minor that just made things more intriguing. I much prefer this take on Muraki than the sex symbol crap. Rape isn't sexy. Power play between consenting adults can be great fun, but raping a thirteen year old isn't my idea of weekend fun.
Amazing! And definitely one of the more interesting views of Muraki I've ever seen (like his doctor personality). That quote at the beginning was a little weird, sounded like that guy from Saw, but I liked the beat thing with the heart.
I don't think Muraki has "hott" appeal BECAUSE he is a serial killer. It's just part of his looks, attitude and personality.
I, personally, find him extremely sexy, despite his sadistic tendancies. However, it needs to be understood that someone like this in real-life and non-fiction would not be sexy, no matter how attractive he is, so I don't really see the problem with people finding him, a fictional character, "hott".

I believe this is the greatest video of Muraki I've seen yet. It was perfect down to every clip. The timing was great as well. I know that there many fans that really don't see him as serial killer and rapist he actually is. Or at least not fully. Ther are times when I don't even think that of him. It was a gret take on that side of him. I loved it.

i've always seen Muraki as a derange obsessed rapist/serial killer more then a sex symbol (thats what i love about him), and this vid portrayed him so perfectly--it was gory, disturbing, creepy, and haunting-- which made it so unbelievably beautiful!!! the music went perfectly, this vid seriously gives a peak into his lovely deranged heart, total justice for his character-- the music alone gave me shivers, beautiful work to the creater, *faves!*

I suppose that I should thank Muraki for helping me to realise what I want to become which is a psychologist. He sparked my interest for psychopaths and personality disorders and that then made me take a psychology class in highschool. And now I'm striving to reach my goal.
I have to admit, he was my favourite the first time I watched YnM but that faded when I realise how disturbed he really is. He makes an excellent villain non the less and I do still like him, in a nostalgic sort of way.

I really like how this video captures the disturbances underneath Murakis white mask and it makes you realize how drawn in we are to this caracter despite all the horrible crimes he's commited. I mean you can't help but like him and hate him at the same.

This is a wonderful video capturing the mind of a troubled doctor turned killer. He's a twisted, manipulative sadist, not a lover.
The author obviously did something right if people can be seduced by Muraki, however. It makes his ability to manipulate others all the more believable. I mean, I'll admit it; until I thought very hard about all he had done, I had really liked him. I mean, isn't that funny? It's because Muraki can be so lighthearted despite what horrid things he has done.

I like this an a lot. I myself like Muraki, as the way he is. Not as a sex symbol, but as a man. Not so easy to explain, but I enjoyed watching this. I can see why the audience was so quiet. I was too.

I love Muraki for his sex symbol status, /and/ his horrific evil, both. His sadism and obsession with Tsuzuki can be unapologetically sexy. x'D Only in anime, however.
Even still, Hisoka/Tsuzuki is my my favorite pairing... and I like the cruel and disturbing side of Muraki better, because it makes for an interesting villain.

It's part of the song. Making the lip flaps line up was one of my more obsessive moments of video editing... (I was actually editing frame-by-frame for that section of the video in order to get the mouth to open and close in more or less the right way).

This amv is perfect for Muraki, the combination of the song and the clips gave me the chills. It made me even more fascinated and actracted by him; he's a sadist, a psycho, a murderer, a rapist and that just increase the appeal he has over me. I admit I love psycho and twisted characters, they have a haunting and extremely seductive appeal to me. Plus I see him perfectly with Tsuzuki, in many ways. He's one of my favorite characters ever, so I thank you for this masterpiece.

this relay is truly brilliant. I especially like the last shot, and how the last bit focuses on Saki and portrays the emotional damaged caused. When I first watched this video, it hit me that this is possible the first YnM AMV, and cirtenly the first Muraki-centric AMV, that doesn't have a single shot of him molesting Tsuzuki-san. I think this is realy the essence of muraki, well done.

I loved the video, but frankly I wouldn't mind seeing it flaged as inappropriate for minors... mind you when i was a minor that just made things more intriguing. I much prefer this take on Muraki than the sex symbol crap. Rape isn't sexy. Power play between consenting adults can be great fun, but raping a thirteen year old isn't my idea of weekend fun.

I don't think Muraki has "hott" appeal BECAUSE he is a serial killer. It's just part of his looks, attitude and personality.
I, personally, find him extremely sexy, despite his sadistic tendancies. However, it needs to be understood that someone like this in real-life and non-fiction would not be sexy, no matter how attractive he is, so I don't really see the problem with people finding him, a fictional character, "hott".

I believe this is the greatest video of Muraki I've seen yet. It was perfect down to every clip. The timing was great as well. I know that there many fans that really don't see him as serial killer and rapist he actually is. Or at least not fully. Ther are times when I don't even think that of him.
