that 700r4 trans is goin to blow if u run 100 shot with out a new stall shift kit severo and cluches shit sun shell to .... u need that for anything over 75 shot 3 times max then the heads gaskets go
the 170 hp rating for the 305 5.0 is for the base model camaro called the RS. z28 or iroc 305 5.0 in 1985 HP was rated from 155hp to 215 hp depending on your intake system in 1985. in 1992 the last year of the z28 of the 3rd gen HP peaked to 230 hp with the 5spd trans. or get the option of a 350 5.7 and get 245hp.

is6guy your 85 5.0 does no such thing stock. i own 5.0 my 81 cobra has 185 and my 88 lx has 195 my 87 gt only came with 190 don't believe everything you read unless it's the dyno screen manufacturer claims mean shit.

Looking recently at the IROCs and saw the 89 5.0 puts out only 170 HP stock. Is this the true HP, because it seems like a 5.0 V8 should put out more than that.

You must suck ass at driving. I have gears, RV cam, and full exhuast and I do 13.2 in Tucson. We have crap for atmospheric pressure. Mines a vortec 350 with a 700R4.

You would have known if it was only running on 7 cylinders. The whole car would be vibrating HARD especially under full throttle. It would have felt like the motor was about to come apart.
