i watched this after watching a Japanese docu. on Mongol empire, the biggest ever that ended in around late 1300s - and whose official religion was Tibetian Buddhism...this is a very good docu but it's so stupid to hear the repeats from westerners with the 'nobody had seen this hidden kingdom until 1950 etc' - yeah except most of the world knew about it and loads of them visited the area, back a few hundred years ago.

the capital has Islam, Christianity, and Tibetian Buddhism side by side there.

life was so short because the monks did not help people. They just exploited them.No compassion with the low class people. For these people the take over of the chinese was the best that happened to them.

@ruzickaw if tibetan monks and followers followed the teachings of atisha and his school wasnt forced to be ingtergrated with the tantric schools we might of seen a differnt type of tibetan buddhism for the kadam school was a sutra school not tantra and the dali lamas tradition broke from the kadam tradition to seek tantras its really sad how it all came to an end. i personaly think (lo jong)(mind training)is one of the best meditations ever peace and love

It seems like precious spiritual knowledge and practices have had to be stored in a safe place over the centuries until the time came for them to be reintroduced to the whole world. It is easy to see how the Tibetans may have become over-protective and how it was necessary to release their priceless possessions by force. That is not to condone for one moment Chinese atrocities - but I doubt the Tibetans would have voluntarily shared their wisdom had not the holocaust 'opened them up' as it were.

I like the view, that Tibetan life is so hard it gives you an understanding of how precious life is and forces you to look inward, hence the importance of aspirations of joy-happiness and compassion for all.

First of all you are wrong when you say that the Hindu yogi just does contortions for the public, that is pure bull, the Tibetans learned all of their yoga practice from the Indian monks living in the cave monasteries, or from the system of Hatha yoga, which included the arts and science's and especially control of the mind, second not to put down the plight of the Tibetan people but you will find most Tibetans uneducated and living in old superstitious ways, that was even said by the Dali lama.

I use to download dharma movies pirated such as ; the milarepa move, i downloaded mantras for free that were not suppose to be posted up, it even says on the cd.

@GreenShadedThing . Okay I am just giving a possible heads up. On a lot of dharma materials such as book it is strictly not to photo copy, or to do anything without permission if it says so. I even had this CD of mantras where it says do not make copies , play it out in a huge public area, ect. I am not trying to ruin anyones fun I am just trying to stop people from doing my mistake. But the only way some people will learn from their mistakes is by doing them.

Karma isn't originally a buddhist idea it's a term borrowed from the theistic schools of Hinduism and basically a matter of choice, cause and effect...

What Choices you make alone or in a group (as in following a party line) will effect your karma (as does everything). The actions of a those making decisions effect the karma of them and possibly their country.
