  • Nicely done, keep up the good work.

  • In my humble opinion conphuzhun and aiko4321 specially are correct. There is a proper way to generate power. Do not confuse having pleasure with been lazy. I do shotokan and bojutsu in both I find pleasure even when I go full force and speed delivering Kime. I have also studied Aikido which is soft but devastating. In this form I do not see one nor the other. There are plenty of Shushi no kon kata here please research and keep working hard as you seem to have very good heart. Thumbs up for you!

  • This is not a Matayoshi form, though it does have some aspects, The importand thing is to enjoy your art and try different things with your kata, It is not a bad thing to first learn a tech. at slow speed until bal. and power come. and then go to a middel speed and finaly full speed.

  • Matayoshi kobujitsu teaches real combat methods this kata may lack a lot of things however, when health is an issue things change and can cause misunderstanding. The rule is enjpy your art have fun with it and simply do the best you can.

  • Nice form ;)

  • Hello,

I think you could practice your kata with more precision and tonus and still keep it meditative.

But since you're already having fun, you don't need to change anything.

    Keep enjoying it, you're great!

  • I appreciate the meditation aspect of it, however as one who has actually studied the style, I must say the subjects form could use a little work. No offense, but it seemed very lazy.

  • Id love to see a video of your Bo kata.

  • Of course it's easy to say that a bo kata must contain kime and so forth, however, what I find interesting in this vid is that a kata can also be done in a "meditative" way, a bit like Tai Chi. The essence is to have pleasure.

  • Many thanks for your kind words, of course it's about pleasure. :)

  • You can post comments.

Sorry I deleted one by accident, the one where you acknowledge that due to health problems it was ok.

    Please post again soz xlolx

  • BTW, I'm sorry, I hv posted same thing again and again few times.. What happnd was, after I posted the comment and refresh, I didnt see my comment posted :).. Then I typed same thing again, hahaha. Sorry for that.. gambatte Kudasai.. You asked abt my kata, u can visit through my profile, ok? :D All the best my friend

  • Many Thanx

  • Absolutly However today Karate is for everybody and we have to teach. We use Utube as an association to help people have a ready available referance point, and although what you say has merit this vid can be used as a referance. Also Kobudo has links with Sothern Chinese Hakutsuru, and kobudo Bo jutsu has a direct link to the Hakatsuru Hakukon, or White stick spear form which is refered to as a dance. :-)

  • Different people hv different views abt martial arts :) No offense.. Bt, I'm sure she has to work a lot on the things I pointed out, unless she has health probs.. I think tht comment will help her, not making her down.. Only with real focus, power (may not b muscle power), kime, and reality only can learn the siprit of MA.. MA teach us many things more than physical health. For gain those valuable things for life, MA need it s spirit :)

  • Actually the power is there it's very relaxd. I know as I have had my Bokken bashed by her Bo. It is better to have internal power and release (Fajin) than to have an outward apperance of power. Somtimes I feel that people act power and strength rather than have power and strength, As some kata performance's look the part but the karate-ka actually has no real understanding of the internal energy actually required to performe a posotive well focused, technique.

My opinion. Thak you for posting.

  • I knw abt fajin and relaxed power, Ki, Chi, because I learnt TaiChi from Chen Style Master.. But, I'm sorry to say this lady doesnt hv such thing.. She's week in performance.. Sorry to say that.. But, that s the fact.. I'm not pulling her down.. Just she has to work more on that.. Also, not an offense.. BTW, if she wnts to show the soft power, she has to chose TaicHi, Aikido or something.. Shushi No Kun from Okinawa Kobudo, and there s a proper way of generating power in Kobudo..

  • Kata is not a dance.. But odori and Karate/Kobudo has some similarities... But, id doesnt say it s a dance.. Some times when weapons banned in ryukyu, they hide techniques in Odori.. But, the lady is doing a Kobudo Kata, not an Odori.. If she s doing Odori, it must b named as an Odori.. This is Shushi No Kun Kata of Kobudo, not Odori for sure.. It's ok to train like this just for fun and health, but no real spirit of Kobudo.. If so, my personal view is, it's not good to post a video..

  • Bad performance.. No power, no kime, no speed, not realastic, no concentration.. Kata is not a dance.. Not an offense, but to understand and practice more :) Gambatte Kudasai

  • Actually Kata is a dance check out your history of Okinawa and Chinese forms. No Offence taken. Before making comments on peoples performance one must know the person and any health problems that may exist, if there is a condition, then practice must be taken carefully.

Please post your Video many thanks. :)

  • Kata is not a dance my friend.. But certain kata and Okinawan Odori have similarities.. Therefore, some odori teachers learnt karate and vice versa.. But, sure certain kata created with the help of Odori and some techniques were hidden there... Some girls cant geberate power, they always do like this.. Instructors also hv nothing to do with that.. But, it s ok for them to keep health as exercise, but no spirit of Kobudo there :)

  • I learn this kata one year ago and all I have to say is put some strengh and life in the kata, make it look like a real battle

  • A lot of it depends on your sensei as well as how much practice you have with the kata - I've been doing it about a year and still wouldn't want to post a clip of myself on YouTube! My videos include a tutorial of this, but I won't post a video reply, so find it if you want.

  • Awsome Bo Kata. Im learning that one now. Im still having trouble on the last 3 moves
