i watched all the videos from 96 and i believe the reason why this channel went down hill was because disney got a little greedy and created soundtracks for their movies just to make more money.. Hannah Montana was very profitable thats why they came up with the idea (concerts,cds,etc.)....when disney channel kept it simple including all the other kids channels the product was much better :)

there is a movie that you missed somewhere. I know it's an older movie, like maybe in the 90s I would think. It's called "Ready to Run", about the girl who could talk to the racehorse. and the racehorse used earphones and listened to music to run. It was my favorite disney movie of all time.

It's interesting- you can trace pop culture evolution through these movies. Zenon/13th year = SciFi. Cheetah Girls = Spice GIrls/Girl Groups. Even Stevens movie = Survivor/Reality shows. High School Musical got made because people were into American Idol, but it sparked its own pop culture trend. On the upside, we have Glee. On the downside, every female star with a Disney show becomes a "recording artist".

why is everyone dissing HSM i mean im pretty sure you all loved it when it premiered since it premiered but it like completely changed Disney Channel HSM was like a huge phenomenon because of the amount of viewers, and its soundtrack peaking on top of the charts selling millions of copies that Disney made it to a huge franchise and made its channel more music oriented and very pop culturish

i haven't seen a single movie from the '04-'07 era, but they all look pretty crappy. this is around the time i entered high school, so maybe i outgrew the disney channel and got too old to find the movies appealing.

OR maybe my age had nothing to do with it and the movies just truly started sucking. even now as an adult i can go back and watch old movies like step sister from planet weird and brink, and still find them entertaining. the quality in disney channel films has heavily decreased.
