6. It might actually be fun... to collaborate on the casting process (with someone who has the know-how to make videos) to make a video FOR Five Smooth Stones, so if you are at all intrigued by the idea, let me know. Btw, I like Sandra Bullock and her movies... (pretty much all of them in fact) I just really don't see her as Claire. Sorry about the length of my comment... (as you can tell, I am on the wordy side) I'd probably be dangerous with a video camera... LOL.
5. it managed to inspire me to receive an A for my book report on it. Anyway... you did a good job on the video, although if you make more similar to this one, it would be nice to move the written events to the bottom of the screen, (away from the middle of the character's faces) and leave them on screen a tad longer. Of course I have never made a video, (except a few short ones on my phone) so who am I to criticize? It is meant to be constructive though, so please don't take it the wrong way.
4. ALL of the people I had originally chosen, would now be too old. Some are even dead. This book should have been made into a movie YEARS ago, but probably will not be, in my lifetime. If you have not read it, I heartily recommend you do so... although devastatingly poignant, it is nevertheless a thrilling read which I believe should be required reading at the high school level. It was considered to be on the controversial side when written, but but as a senior when it was new,
3. whose talent and looks would measure up to the characters in my favorite novels... to be in movies both already done, and as of yet NOT done. A prime example of a story which totally deserves a prominent spot on the silver screen, but has NOT yet been immortalized on film, is the under-promoted novel (out of print for several years, but finally available once more) "Five Smooth Stones" by Ann Fairbairn. At this point, the casting would need to be entirely redone... because
She is stunningly beautiful, and I believe underrated as an actress... I'm just not certain she could pull off the accent. It begs the question of who else COULD (currently) properly fill Claire's shoes. The Outlander series of novels is among my favorite EPIC stories of all time... and I have lived a good bit of it. The reading of the entire series is quite an undertaking, which I have managed twice...and am contemplating another go. I have always found it fun to cast (in my imagination) actors
Good effort... but SORRY, Sandra Bullock ( although gorgeous) is just NOT the right TYPE to be cast as Claire. I would say if she were younger, that Meryl Streep would have been a perfect choice... She is a brilliant actress who is widely known to have an uncanny knack for taking ANY role and making it her own. It is truly a shame, that she (although she looks young for her age) is obviously beyond a believable age to play the part. LOOKS-wise, Keri Russel would make a perfect Claire... (cont.
Babs as Mrs. Fitz?? Only if this story were to take place in Brooklyn and all she was not Scottish but jewish! Sandra Bullock- definatly not! However- give Orlando Bloom a slight reddish tinge to his hair and he is could definately be Jamie! And Gwenyth is a good choice!
very good with your "Cliff notes" about the book. It doesn't matter who we would want to be playing the roles of the the characters in the book. The matter is, that we love the story and Dianna Gibaldon has captured our imagination and hearts.
I agree that she has captured our imagination and our hearts.. but i do believe that it is important to get the right jamie.. and i dont feel that was him. I think she hit it closer with gerard butler..but where is the red hair... it would help me invision it better. I think many people have imagined what jamie and claire look like. I think it would totally dissappoint me if the character wasn't up to par.
Sandra Bullock and Madeleine Stowe are too old for Claire. Claire needs to be younger and fresher and someone who will have a chemistry with whomever plays Jamie, hopefully an unknown Scotsman, with the look of a Viking.
Hair can be died to look naturally red if done right...but Jamie must be young, tall, broad with the long nose, cat-like eyes and the all around 'viking-ness' is that a word? LOL! I think Gerard is a fine actor but he is too old to play Jamie. I hope they find a strapping (unknown) scottish man to blow us all away.
Orlando Bloom als Jamie? Himmel nein! Ich mag beide Personen aber die passen ja mal gar nicht zusammen! Orli ist ein Schönling und Jamie alles andere als das!
I svw david tennant in something the other day and I think he would be a great Jamie!!!! acting wise not looks. except thvt he tottally has the right nose. he is just not tvll enough!!! so funny you should think of him too!!
I've read the book and I hope they make it into a series of movies from all 5 books about Jaime and Claire. I could not help put love these fictional characters. If there are and producers reading this - please do it! It will be sucessful as long as the characters are believable.
when clare came I was like no... she isn't Clare. but I continued. actualy murtag is good and even Dougal McKenzy could work but then I saw Orlando Bloom and I was like: What was she thinking, he is NOT Jamie!!!!
You might want to start with an editor, and then move on to have someone else cast this thing. Jamie IS Gerard Butler, although it amuses me to think of Barbra Streisand as a maid.
this is, without a doubt, the worst casting ideas for the movie. I am sorry, but Orlando Bloom is not what I had in mind for Jamie. That should Gerard Butler, hands down. As for Claire, I am stuck between Kate Beckinsale or Rachel Weisz. Fergus, possibly Bloom, but probably not. Gwenyth Paltrow as Lagoheir, I DON'T THINK SO. Leave that to Sophia Myles. Ugh..this is the worst compilation of actors/actresses for these parts!
Orlando Bloom would not be my first choice. I wanted Heath Ledger, but now that can never be. I want to see someone with Jamie's red hair and heighth get the part.
I cannot picture Orlando Bloom as Jamie Fraser. He could be Roger...but i think even Roger was taller than him. Sorry dear I'm one of those women who can picture Gerard Butler as Jamie Fraser. But Gwyneth Paltrow can definitely be Laoghaire!(But then I think, she's too tall!LOL)
Nicely done!! I love the music clips!! I keep hoping if enough people hit these videos someone will take notice and just maybe... we will get a long awaited wish to have these books brought to the big screen.
uhh..haha NO. Pride and Prejudice was written by Jane Austen and published in 1813. Diana Galbaldon written these literary works in 1991, plus the whole time scale is off; about 60-65 years off.
Pride and Prejudice was written well after the American Revolution, whereas Outlander was in written in the time prior and during the American Revolution.
Interesting, but I wish you had someone edit the text. And a few of your cast (like Barbara Streisand) were just too well known to be credible as Scots.
I think you did a beautiful job on your video. But I must say Orlando Bloom is not a very good choice for Jamie. He is not large enough of a man. Orlando Bloom would make a good Young Ian. Or maybe even Roger. But he certainly is no where near a Jamie.
