@cameralabs i have watched videos of people reviewing brands like Hasselblad, Mamiya and Leica S2s on their respective channels on youtube. Obviously none of those experts reviewing those cameras were the owners of those cameras. Why do people at pentax think that their product in someway is better than those above mentioned brands and shouldnt be reviewed??
@kaisar1 I have no idea! It frustrates me that they can't get their head around the fact that they may have to ship some products a little further to get them reviewed by certain publications. They clearly don't care about cameralabs or anyone who reads / watches my reviews. As I said above, feel free to complain to pentaxian1
Hi gordon. Big fan. I just have some thew questions. It could be really cool if you could make a review about the pentax kx. One more question... What is best.. Pentax kx, canon eos 550d or nikon d5000 ?? :)
@bboylilsoul But I don't live in England, I live in NZ. Since the majority of my visitors are from the US, I don't think it's unreasonable to be supplied by the US.
It's called Live View. It uses more power and isn't all that usefull really. Try shooting using only the viewfinder when actually making shots. The screen is better used to review your shots, checking exposures etc. rather than for making shots.
The K10D has a bigger sensor (less noise at high ISOs), bigger viewfinder, weather sealing, can be used with ~30-year-old lenses with no problems whatsoever; new DA lenses are excellent and cheaper than Zuiko lenses.
The oly has better image stabilization and anti-dust facilities, and is somewhat smaller and lighter.

That's too big a question to answer here, but if you like, post it on the Cameralabs forums... it's important to pick up both models in person though to see which looks and feels best in your own hands.
Hi, we have sample images with and without Shake Reduction in the full review at the Cameraabs website. There's also an excellent user review in our forum.
very good review, after owning one for about 6 months i can say this review is spot on, while i cant comment on its performance compared to other models, i find i am quite happy i didnt shell out the extra money for the D80. although i do find the statements about how the K10D is inferior out of the box because it requires you to learn how to use it to get vibrant pictures out of it as a bit of a moot point, if you didnt want to learn how to use a SLR camera, buy a point and shoot.
Good point, but remember some people might want the low noise and interchangeable lenses of a DSLR, but still want something which works great in auto with the default settings... the Nikon D40 and D40x are great for this...
In our full review on the cameralabs website we talked about the dedicated RAW button, the option to record in the DNG format and the ability to process RAW files into JPEGs in the camera.
How is it better? Do you have examples with all three cameras which demonstrate this? I would say the K10D's RAW can be much better than its JPEGs, but that's because its default JPEG processing is quite toned down.
Ah, I just saw the video from that review, forgot to check out the full review :) I'll do it now. Want to see how sharp and detailed the images become.
Hey gordon !! ur reviews rock man !! I have never seen anyone review a camera combining the technical points and the ergonomics as well from a consumer viewpoint... keep reviewing... !!!!!
I just ordered mine :) Also ordered teh 18-55mm and 50-200mm. But they're just temporary while I wait for the new DA* lenses :) Might get one or two of the Limited Edition lenses.
However, I wonder which lenses from Pentax are the clearest right now. Any idea about that? I know the K10D can use lots of the older lenses, and I'm sure some of them must be very clear and draw beautifully sharp pictures on the sensor.
Samsung makes a version called the GX10. Has some slight styling tweaks. Has a schneider lens instead of smc pentax. The k10d battery grip wont work on the gx10 but samsung made a battery grip for it too. Has a slightly different menu. The gx10 only supports adobe raw while the k10d supports both pentax and adobe. Other than that they are the same camera.
Hi,I guess it is worth to say that on Pentax K10D you can use your "old" K mount Pentax Lenses. So this makes this camera a "green" camera because it allows to recycle very nice asahi-pentax lenses. So if you had or you still have a K1000 an ME or an MX, and you are thinking maybe to buy a digital SLR well... this is what's for you.
I've read their review - these guys totally blind if they don't see K10D's adventage in image quality... Less consumer friendly... Yeah, right... Go and buy P&S instead of DSLR - I'm sure you'll get pretty "consumer friendly" pictures.
Hi jaad75, the K10D is capable of great image quality and that's why we Recommended it in our review on the Cameralabs website, but it does take time to learn. I believe there's many people who've outgrown a P&S and want the benefits of a DSLR like swapping lenses, low noise, quick handling and easy focusing, but they don't want a camera that needs significant manual intervention for good results. That's why I'd only recommend the K10D to people who don't mind tweaking.
Is there not a blitz in the camera?

Can anyone help me with the PENTAX K110D?
When you turn the Camera on...It shows on the LCD Screen for 3 Seconds.
Well, how do you get the LCD Screen to stay on, and show you what you are Shooting?
Is there a way? Please Help.
:)
BradleyHowingtonENT 3 years ago
Short answer: you can't. It was designed as an SLR, not a point and shoot. Looking through the viewfinder gives you a lot more control of the shot.
However, I believe that they have only just started to implement this feature across many brands, including the K20D.
poonandcheese 3 years ago 6
Thnak You.
I found out that only the Pentax K20D has it.
It works great.

The manufacturers loan cameras to publications for review. But they always take them back again!
